Dictator leaves Fiji in Aussie hands

FBC-Fiji: The Chief Justice Anthony Gates (pictured right) will be the acting President in the absence of the President says Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

Bainimarama made the announcement as the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau is currently on a 16 day international tour including a nine-day visit of China.

Bainimarama also told FBC News that he will appoint an acting Prime Minister and an acting Military Commander when he leaves for the UN General Assembly in New York later this week.

It is understood that Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has already left the country for the UN meet.

The Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is also out of the country attending a World Intellectual Property Organisation meeting in Switzerland.

  1. Can someone please get it right !
1st. we're told Frank and Sayed have been arrested, then we're told it's unconfirmed, then we're told they are both overseas in New York and Geneva, now we're being told Sayed is in Geneva and that Frank will leave for new york later this week ?
And how can a chief Justice be part of a Government ?
What about the separation of powers ?

  4. Just goes to show how f#*ked up things are when you have a foreigner as a president of your country. It would make interesting news in Australia.

  5. No it won't. They don't care. Why should they? People in Fiji don't care or else they would do something about it.
