FBC-Fiji: The Chief Justice Anthony Gates (pictured right) will be the acting President in the absence of the President says Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
Bainimarama made the announcement as the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau is currently on a 16 day international tour including a nine-day visit of China.
Bainimarama also told FBC News that he will appoint an acting Prime Minister and an acting Military Commander when he leaves for the UN General Assembly in New York later this week.
It is understood that Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has already left the country for the UN meet.
The Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is also out of the country attending a World Intellectual Property Organisation meeting in Switzerland.
