BREAKING NEWS! DRITI AND ROKO ULUI BACK IN THE FOLD

Oh, how quick how the winds of change - and fortunes - seem to be blowing through the Queen Elizabeth barracks of Suva at the moment.

We now hear from very reliable sources that Brigadier General Pita Driti and the 3FIR Commander Lieutenant Colonel Roko Tevita Uluilakeba Mara have made good of their sad situation.

We've been told they have apologised to self-appointed prime minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, and will be reinstated from today.

Driti and Roko Ului fell out with Bainimarama after his loyalists supporters spotted what they believed was a plot hatched by the senior officers to overthrow Fiji's leader. As is his way, Bainimarama sent them on 'outstanding leave' in what informed observers and those who have been there before believed was a path of no-return.

Two replacements were even named for Driti and Roko Ului as the regime continued to deny there was a fall out.

Coupfourpointfive has no doubt there were ructions but as has been the pattern of late within the regime and at the barracks, these messy break-ups of the military have become icky make-ups that even Hollywood would find embarassing.

  1. The Warrior is well and truely in control.

Bainimarama is indeed a man of his word for he lives and dies by the sword he wields.

    A true leader.

  4. It's clear that the best way for Frank Bainimarama and Sayed to keep a hold over Driti and Mara, is to keep them where he can watch them.
    Right under his nose !

If Mara and Driti were left outside the circle of trust, they could easily plot Frank's demise with equally disenchanted Soldiers, so it's better to keep them close by and under the watchful eyes of Frank's other supporters.

Well I'm guessing that Mara and Driti must be feeling like a couple of gilded horses right now. totally ineffective :-

  5. isn;'t it jts wonderfukll what a flexible notion this idea of loyalty and treason fijians appear to have. It appears that one mans trason is another man's 'cause' and apparently can all be resolved with an apology and some grovelling. Haven't they announced publicly that these two are going on leave? Will there be another saying what is really going on. I find the standard that is applied to the military brass (Keen, Driti mara etc) rather confusing and typically self interested and hypocritical and are quick to defend their self imposed 'special place' in fijian life , but others who may be from political parties etc are expected to be held to a different standard ?? Is there still treason in fiji or is it just sparingly applied to anyone not in green who says sorry?? I though attempted mutiny was one of those big ticket items worth addrsssing??

  7. green beret@at1.14pmYou won't see this lot doing anything as honourable as hari kari. They are incapable of honour, even though they have exposed themselves to the world (and their foot soldiers)as puny weaklings. Have it on good authority that they never amounted to much at school and were never going to be superstars in the real world. Let them remain at QEB where they can stride around in their sunglasses and false bravado until they get the rude awakening they deserve.

  8. It appears that the people of Fiji is going through some kind of hypnoses or lamusona. Why would you wanna go back and apologize to this dickhedtator. Ni yavu tamata liumuri.

  9. Diagnose - speculate all you want -but a sailor in command of a land army still remains a classic symptom of military dysfuctionalism.
Civilian affliction would involve awarding a specialist Mill upgrade contracts to a Railway Company - then hiring legal council hoping to recover damages & costs via the Indian court system.

  10. Ask Roko Ului if about early 2009he was offered to full financial and military support if he did the honours......which encoraged him to become outspoken... But still a lamu sona or a mixed mind loyalist as his sister is in the white house and also one is wife of IG Minister who also acts as PM sometimes!!

Go figure there will be no another coup and the current one is the last one.......as the military has finally learnt that there is only one leader and the rest is mutiny / treason...

  11. Military coups are not the way to effect a change of government folks.

  17. Hahahahaha.....U ppl should talk!! about false bravado, implying the incapability of the Commander and being in contact with the Brigadier General Driti and Lt Col Roko Ului...things which are not proven facts. But look at facts, the Military as been in power for 4 years now without running the country into bankruptcy, most of what past politicians promised over the years have now been fulfilled by the military within its short time leading, dont kid yourselves, ppl see whats happening. You think the ousted politicians gave or even gives a damn about all of you, look at what the military is doing in terms of development for both urban and rural areas. Politicians are like diapers.....they need to be changed constantly because they're full of the same thing!!!!
