Fiji Times editor-in-chief and his deputy 'forced out of job'

Coupfourpointfive has been told the editor of the Fiji Times, Netani Rika, and deputy editor, Sophie Foster, are being forced to leave the newspaper by the new owner and publisher.

Sources say publisher Dallas Swinstead announced Rika's resignation to Fiji Times staff and issued a media release when Rika had not even resigned yet.

Rika still hasn't put his resignation through.

And, now, the deputy editor, Sophie Foster, has taken sudden leave.

Sources say like Rika, Foster has been told to bow down to the interim regime like Dallas and owner, Mahendra Patel want, or resign.

It's no news that Swinstead and Patel  want the paper to get on with the Frank Bainimarama regime because it's all about the money for them.

Coupfourpointfive has been told  Swinstead, who is on a six month work permit, wants to get on with the regime so the paper can re-secure government advertising.

The morale at the Fiji Times newsroom today is said to be sombre after journalists learnt the truth about Rika and Foster being pushed out.

There have been teary sessions and staff are depressed because the Fiji Times has lost its reputation as the newspaper that upheld democracy and journalistic principles.

Now Fiji will progress as both papers will be singing praise for the Lord of the Manor, Bhai Ni.

The Sugar industry will soon be right and investment on the rise. Everyone will be happy and Ching Pang supplying the $. Bai deserves a back pay...back dated to the day he joined the Wai Mataivalu.

Fiji has now truly become a dictatorship regime, the Fiji Times was the last bastion of hope holding the torch high and refusing to publish anything pro-govt.

When the media start becoming a propaganda tool of the Gov't that is when democracy is truly destroyed.

Say goodbye to balanced reporting, say goodbye to the media acting as a watchdog of society, watching the politicians and watching the government and making them accountable for their actions.

No, now Frank Bainimarama will decide who he wants judged and punished.

And his friends won't be the ones to suffer.

Fiji will become worse off now.

Thank God there are blogs like this one that still reports the truth.

May the truth prosper!

These two stalwarts of Democracy and Freedom of the press cTn hold their heads high.
The Fiji times is only the name of a business, but it's the people running that business that make it what it is or was.
Soon the Fiji Times will only be known for only being useful as toilet paper for wiping ones arse.

And that reflects on the Owners and Reporters and Journalists who stay in its employ.

these people and others, are better off starting their own business to help combat this evil oppressive Regime of Frank Bainimarama's.

The fact that Frank has chosen to destroy the Fiji times, is an indication of its worth, value and effectiveness at combating the lies of the Regime in the past.

Well done gentlemen and ladies, onwards and upwards to better things and a brighter and much more prosperous future.
