Outrage at illegal police commissioner's decision to take wife on trip

Rank and file officers say they have again exposed the illegal police commissioner, Ioane Naivalurua, for misuse of taxpayer's money.

Photographs from them show Naivalurua on tour last week to the Northern region accompanied by four senior officers - and his wife - and she taking part in meetings and sitting down to a large meal.

Intel Source says the trip is another sign of corrupt behaviour by Naivalurua and reminds the public that it comes despite the fact the police budget is again six million dollars over budget.

Outraged rank and file officer say the wife sat in all police briefings along with the senior officers from the police/prisons department, and the region police commander.
Quote: "Amazing to note that a civilian is allowed to be "sitting" in the room when national security is discussed. Wonder how the senior police officers feel - garlanding the CP's wife and following her around like dogs?"
The source adds: "Word on the ground is, and we were first to expose this to the world, is that Mrs Commissioner has a pot plant business and all police departments are being filled with them and that it is now going to the northern region!"
Intel Source refers to a Fiji Times story on Saturday where Naivalurua urges officers to stop the backstabbing. Intel says the call for virtue is aimed at hiding the illegal police chief's own corruption rather than improving the force. Quote: "It is to hide this type of corruption where his family rides and does business exploration and expansion on tax payer's monies.

"The commissioner is becoming too powerful holding two positions and is continuing to exploit the Fiji Police and its huge budget for his own personal and prison expansions.

"We police officers want to ask the Minister for Anti-Corruption and the Prime Minister - where is justice in what you preach that your goon is  doing daylight corruption and you sit enjoying the pecks in your office? When we are constantly being dictator-ed by a prison officer who the commissioner has posted in Fiji Police  and has made a mockery of the system?"

Pictures: Naivalurua's wife tags along with him, sitting in on meetings and meals. Earlier, it was revealed her pot plant business has expanded thanks to the connections and that the plants are now in all of the police offices.

  7. Ione is a damn liar who in 2000,promised to defend the integrity of the military institution and the democratic freedoms of every citizen in Fiji.Instead,he sold out his soul to riches and power through illegal means and in doing so turned a blind eye to the murders, beatings and torture of innocent citizens around him.

During this misguided coup,Naivalurua has adopted a similar role as Hitlers henchman, Herman Goering. It is a shame that this traitor has given up his military career and all of his officer training qualifications to follow an idiot like Voreqe.

Surely Ione must realise that like Voreqe,he will end up in Naboro for the rest of his life and his family will carry the shame of his misdeeds after he is long dead and forgotten. In a similar manner, the names and public reputation of the Ganilaus, Nailatikaus,Maras, Bainimaramas and Chaudarys are now worth less than the turds floating around the Kinoya Sewerage Treatment Plant.

These scumbags are the worst type of citizens because they are drunk on the power and money. They must be always reminded that their evil gains came at the viscious murders of innocent citizens like Sakiusa Rabaka, Nimilote Verebasaga,Whippy and others. No amount of sweet talk can make their bloodstained coup clean ans we will make sure that these defenseless victims have the last say in court by sending criminals like Ione to the gallows.

  8. This means nothing.
The commissioner has been very consistent in his communication to all police and prison officers about the importance of having their families functioning well. Bringing his wife along does support that overall message.

I'm not supportive of everything that's happening but in this case, it's not as horrible as this article is making it out to be at all.

  9. I had sent i a comment earlier, does this mean those that even objectively comment on the articles do not get published..unless and only If i am to support what has been submitted...i had asked the question why we readers should believe this when I know for a fact journalists from Fiji Times, Fiji Sun, and radio accompanied Mr and Mrs Commissioner on this tour..as seen on matavuvale.com photos and no such story came out or heard along the grapevine..or are our journalists were just pampered via nice food etc ..so they did not utter a word??

" Maybe the Mrs commissioner does not trust her husband going alone to tours - thats why she went alone !"

Even the Prime Minister does not take his wife on official tours !

They visited all police stations & posts in north and calculated how many more pot plants are needed ?

  12. I guess for Naivalurua it is - if you can't beat them - JOIN THEM!! How can you sell your soul short COMPOL??
If they all have their fingers in the pie, then what about mine? - YOU PROBABLY TELL YOURSELF.
His name says it all - translated, it loosley means 'He that has/will fight two battles/war - RUA NA I VALU!! First we saw the good/coniving side now we see the REAL side and for all he really is!!
I ask the question where is the "DINA, DODONU KEI NA SAVASAVA" that he used to preach during the time he was the Commander Land Force? Where is his preaching that as a member "YOU SHOULD ALL BE FAITHFUL AND HAVE ALLEGIANCE TO THE INSTITUTION [Army] AND NOT TO THE OFFICE HOLDER" ??
The old saying that 'POWER CORRUPTS AND ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY' has again manifested itself here. How true is the saying!!
He has now shown his true colours - a fox disguised as a sheep!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. What? A civilian in the dress of Mrs COMPOL sitting in at INTEL briefings? Never heard of it. It is simply a NO! NO! IT is not done for obvious reasons. An INTEL briefing is an "INTEL BRIEFING" and is only for those who are supposed to hear it. IT IS NOT FOR PUBLIC CONSUMPTION. PERIOD. It was never done when I was a serving member!!
I pity the career and professional serving Police officers who have to put up with this charade and grand-standing. Who exactly is the COMPOL trying to impress - his wife? What with him being addressed as a MILITARY Brigadier, a Commissioner Of Prisons [wearing the Prisons badge of rank] and now COMPOL [wearing the Police badge of rank] all rolled in one - he must be drunk with power!!
He is so drunk with power that he has failed to address the issue of re-instating those Police officers who were arbitarily removed by his predecessor Teleni who was also drunk with power by thinking that the Police Force was his baby and that he could do ANYTHING AND I mean ANYTHING!!
Brigadier/Com Prisons/COMPOL Naivalurua, you would be well advised to put into practice what you preach. The officers who have lost their jobs have families too, do not forget. All they ask is that they be given a fair hearing and put to a closure their future, concerns and uncertanties, pick up the pieces and carry on with their lives.
I end by saying that for them what ever their fate, they would sincerely want to know whether it is ' YOUR WAY OR THE HIGHWAY'.
I urge to seriously remember that when you sit down for that Xmas lovo lunch with your family, there are other members of your larger families [who have been arbitarily disciplined]who will unfortuntely be not as fortunate.
For what ever it is worth, WE wish you Naivalurua and your family a very Merry Xmas, a very Happy and prosperous New Year and may the Lords guidance and MERCY be on you.

    Well done and keep blogging.

  15. Kania tale na koli na nona lua -

Ioane was side posted to the position of Commissioner Of Prisons when he returned from Iraq because his support for the 2006Coup was lukewarm and un-enthusiastic! He was heard to have stated in public that he did not agree with, nor support the coup (Au sega ni dua vata na ka sa yaco tu oqo).

Voreqe then isolated him to the powerless position with the Prisons service.

But, slowly, and surely, Voreqe baited Ioane to come out of his hole until suddenly Ioane, without realizing what he was doing, took the hook, line and sinker!!!

The greedy fox is now exposed for what he really is - nothing but a (now naked and fully exposed) opportunist who has tried ever so hard to portray himself as a man of honour and integrity. He will now, unfortunately for him, go down in the annals of Fijian history as being one who sold his soul to the devil!

Ioane coined the term about 'NA DINA, NA DODONU KEI NA SAVASAVA' but I guess he has obviously forgotten that, as the catchphrase is now obviously 'NA LASU, NA CA KEI NA DUKADUKALI'

Isa.....sa mai caught taki tale tu o Van Damme!

  16. To Anon @ 11.33am, Dec 21 (pasted below) - what do you mean this means nothing? You are naive & your comment reflects a mind that lacks depth and knowledge. THE REAL QUESTION IS: IS COMMISIONER'S WIFE (KESA NAIVALURUA) ENTITLED TO TRAVEL ON SUCH TRIPS? If the answer is NO, then let's call wrong a wrong and not try to gloss over it as the lesser wrong than other wrongs. For those of us who know this couple, it is nothing new, they have been doing such things before but just that it has not been publicised. This just shows a corrupted mentality who has no shame using tax payers' money for personal gain.
This was another case of repetition of Ateca Ganilau when husband Epeli Ganilau was RFMF Commander and there was a big media row over Mrs Ganilau having a full time RFMF vehicle to her access. It was confirmed that was wrong and that she was not entitled to a govt vehicle & use. She is only entitled to ride in a govt vehicle if accompanying husband to public engagements where both Mr & Mrs were invited.

Whereas in this particular case where illegal Police Commisioner is on an official trip having intel meetings with his officers - wife is not entitled, that is a fact. Definitely! This is abuse of office & pure corruption at its best.

The only wife of any public office holder who is entitled to any such official trips is the legally elected Prime Minister's wife and the legal President's wife.

  17. Did Andrew Hughes ever take his wife on tour with him ?
Is this behaviour a cultural thing in Fiji, taking the wife with you on tours of duty ?
What was the P.C. trying to convey to his troops, Unity, Family or was he trying to convey that he is just an ordinary guy ?
Or was there another motive behind taking his wife on these tours ?

  18. ...well results speaks for itself as far as I am concerned, the rate of recievidism has improved from Prison walls, we see former prisoners now working for their livelihood, some get out of prison with $5,000 in their bank accounts because of the farming projects established in prison...in my area I see Police man now patrolling ..in an area like Nasinu this has improved community relations, no longer do we see officers in their offices but they are on the streets, on the short-cuts, in your neighbourhoods and in your face...it has renewed my confidence in the force after a very bad experience 4 years ago

We in Fiji do not need these kind if comments because we are beginning to move forward..and people like Mr Naivalurua are helping us all...so if you want to say sumthing about our beautiful nation..please come back to Fiji and stay here like us...if you run away then you don't have a placee to say anything.

  24. To Anon, Former Police Hater & Anon Dec 22, 10.15am - you are missing the point big time! Regaining confidence, you must be joking? What confidence? Confidence in an illegal regime? Confidence in someone preacing to the police on one hand, and he & wife thieving police budget (eg. pot plant business of wife - which is unethical!) ...taking the police band to farewell his family member at Nadi airport - is that the type of person who is making you regain your confidence? YOU ARE SICK!!! Commenting from overseas or commenting here in Fiji is a non issue, the issue in this article remains that THE ILLEGAL COMMISSIONER'S WIFE IS NOT ENTITLED TO TRAVEL WITH HUSBAND ON AN OFFICIAL TRIP, FULL STOP!

This complaint OBVIOUSLY seems to have originated from within the police corp within the force, and they know that in a professional meeting where professional issues are discussed the wife of the boss is never present, IT IS NEVER DONE, IT IS UNPROFESSIONAL!

Any amount of justification or smart talk will not change the truth!

  26. Well gentlemen .. all of these are true facts and very real.

On Monday and Tuesday this week the www.police.gov.fj did carry about 70 pictures of the wife of compol and north tour.

After C 4.5 published the story CP directed all pictures to be removed and only his picture to be posted. If you dont belive all this you can call and ask the commissioner on 9905526.

He has posted prison officers at police to look after his interest -we ask the CP what powers does the decree and laws give prison officers to direct anything to Fiji Police. The only legal way CP can post the prison officers to have any authority at police is to appoint them as police officers.

At present we ask CP why is he mixing the two institutions and no prison officers have any powers in police and then why are they trying to dictate policies at HQ and police community policing.

All we officers know is beat and beat - what the heck will we achieve when we are told to go and beat and not to investigate any reports while people await for police action on their reports!

COMPOL directive is also to supress all crime reports in going to media and only to release the reports that has been solved.

  27. It's not necessarily a personal attack on the man, but the Regime he represents !
Perhaps he should put his cap in the ring and resign from the Military and sit at the next Elections, in a legal Government !
There he could do all sorts of good deeds, legally !

  29. Whatever good coming out of him being Com Of Prisons has been cancelled out by him and his wife gaining from the hire of her pot-plants out to the Police! Now that is corruption!

  31. It is more likely to be misappropriation of funds, rather than corruption.
And that could be interpreted as financial incompetence and mismanagement.
But in reality, no matter how you look at it, the P.C. is, by his own actions, or inactions, party to High Treason and will be held accountable in time.
As a Military Officer, he should have resigned his post and still has time to recognise the error of his ways.

  34. A big thank you "Fiji Police" for enlightening and confirming this MISJUDGEMENT [excuse me for doing injustice to the word] by Ioane [CP].
To me,what has happened here is THE stark confirmation that the arrogance, self-centered, lying, "do as I say but do not do as I do" , what can I get out of all this, if it is good for geese, it is good for the gander, etc, etc attitude has rubbed off from the Vore, down to his illegal Ministers, down to the PS's, the spokespeople for the various Ministries/Departments, now Naivalurua, the HOD's and even the ordinary government clerks. One has only to to see and experience the threatening manner when they talk [in the media]
or by personnally interacting with them.
If the Vore can bring in the military to be Illegal Ministers, Illegal PS's and Illegal Divisional Commissoners, what is stopping CP to do likewise?
In OUR normal world, WATER AND OIL DO NOT GEL - in THEIR world, it does in fact gel!! Sad, but that is the reality of things and how they tick!! Furthemore it is a sure sign of insecurity.
