New appointments: daddy's little girl and dodgy highflyers

More behind the scene movements today the people of Fiji are unlikely to be told about officially.

Top of the list is news the daughter of the self-appointed leader, Voreqe Bainimarama, Litiana Bainimarama (Bereso), has been made CEO of the Fiji Sports Council.

Litiana was deported from New Zealand following the 2006 coup because of her connections (she was apparently given the flick by her then husband for the same reason) and used to work for Transtel, the Telecom Fiji subsidiary.
More openly, the illegal attorney-General and Minister for Public Enterprises, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, has named two new appointments to the board of directors for Airports Fiji Limited (AFL).

They are Adrian Sofield, the chair of the Fiji Islands Trade and Investment Bureau (FTIB) and Faiz Khan, a lawyer. Sofield (pictured) has been appointed chair of AFL and Khan director and both have been signed up for three years.

But not stated by the Khaiyum presser today is Sofield's earlier business activities. In the nineties, he is reported to have admitted to bribing the Mayor of Suva to speed up consent for the approval of a condominium site he was in charge of at Queen Elizabeth Drive.

Sofield was struck of by the Fiji Institute of Architects and the site today belongs to the Chinese Embassy.

Worth noting, also, is the pending departure of the publisher of the Fiji Times, Dallas Swinstead, after just five months. He was brought in by owner Mac Patel to help the paper 'cross over' after the forced News Ltd sale.

Owner and publisher have both frothed about the Australian's contribution in re-inforcing the Fiji Times as the country's "most important paper" but many would agree that's an exxageration.

Less enthusiastic to discuss his future is Brigadier General  Mohammed Aziz, who is now rumoured to be off all boards and languishing at home after losing favour with fellow conspirators.

Fijivillage reports that Aziz has resigned from FHCL Board citing personal reasons.

Poor Liti, my ex-school mate...ha ha may be it pays to be a daughter of a dictator, I don't know what qualifications she has to be CEO, she used to be dumb at school and always copied assignments from me and fellow classmates.

Nepotism and favoritism are the hallmarks of any garden variety dictatorship. In Fiji these traits are exacerbated by the nearly unbelievable incompetence the regime shows consistently.

Radiolucas said...

Cream of the crop here. The military regime is clutching at straws - sooner or later they will run out of people to appoint and blame.

Once again, the Voreqe mafioso family crime syndicate are cashing in on the misery of others. Its no surprise that the in-laws are distancing themselves from this corrupt family. After all no one wants to breed another misguided kawa ni coup...bastards!!!

Is the Fiji Army so dumb or what?
They obviously can't see nepotism when it's staring them in the face.
And all the time they keep telling us they are helping clean up corruption.
Why is the UN till employing them?
Please Mr Ban ki Moon why do you keep employing such corrupt people.
Why do you support this regime which has made more poor people in Fiji than any other government in history.
Please send all Fiji soldiers home now.

It’s very churlish of you to disparage this young woman what is the matter with you mongrels if you fell so demoralised by what occurred previously than do something about it.

Whilst you spend the better part of you distorted life inveighing against this regime Fiji is moving ahead in leaps and bounds why don’t you be part of it.

Maybe you don’t want to part of the healing process because for you it’s just harder to defraud society.

Hey Jake. Where are you? You need to defend the indefensible.

Yehdo is dead which is why she jumped ship. It was promoted in the military to use as a means of payment but it seems like it has not taken off. Having seen the fortunes of Yehdo nosediving they tried their hands on school bus fare credit card which also seem to be a white elephant. So off to something more concrete as CEO of Sports Council without the normal due process. To have a jobs nowadays you have to a friend or family of the big boss man VB ruler of all and sundry in Fiji

@ Jake

"inveighing" - I am glad you are using your computer's thesaurus. But I would use simpler words than that. It doesn't make you seem smarter, just a little desperate. How about "protesting"? That is a much better word I think.

But I agree with you when you say: "Maybe you don’t want to part of the healing process because for you it’s just harder to defraud society."

Being honest and truthful is much easier. I am sure it gets hard for you and the military to remember all the many inventive lies they tell, the people they appoint, the people they have burned, the money they have stolen etc etc. Who can keep track of all that? Certainly not those idiots.

I am glad you have come to this realisation. It is a bit of a surprise from you Jake. Maybe I judged you an idiot far too quickly.

Look its a pointless exercise in futility expressing concern about the way Fiji is run when the Fijian people just lay back and take it .The answer is in the hands of the people.Except for a few who run these blogs i see no patriotism from the people of Fiji.Once we were warriors.Now.............?

Jake said...

Radio GaGa.

If this is a form of protestation by you and your ilks than you are sadly mistaken my boy because Bainimarama and Co don’t give a rat’s arse, to physically protest would be in your best interest so “inveighing” would be an appropriate word under these circumstances.

All I am witnessing at the present time is people bitterly complaining and whining about what could been now I know you not a retard or are you? so therefore I will not treat you like one however one must physically protest if one is not satisfied how society is governed.

Come a bit closer I would like to whisper in your ear a little secret are you ready I let you know later.

Come join Bainimarama and let’s make a difference my son.

Jake

@ Jake

"Bainimarama and Co don’t give a rat’s arse"

We know. That is why they do what they do. In short, they have:

1. No idea about what they are doing; and

2. No care for the devastation and evil that they do.

They, as you so rightly put it, "don’t give a rat’s arse" about Fiji or its people. If they did, we wouldn't be in this situation.

I am also surprised that you freely admit that: "All I am witnessing at the present time is people bitterly complaining". Have you thought about protesting or criticisng Frank? Do you want a visit from the army trucks? I expect that you don't give a "rats arse" either.

Now why would ANYONE join with you and Frank? They are a bunch of irresponsible, morally bankrupt traitors.

History will be their judge.

But I know that when it is all over, you will prefer to lie and say that you were one of those "bitter complainers" that you keep seeing.

@ Anony 3.15pm - I like reading C4.5 & every now & then I'll give an honest comment but when I read your comment about Litiana I was quite sad @ your lies about her in school. C4.5 does not put up lies & I think they themselves would like us readers to respect their columns and put up honest comments or else you're just as bad as the people running this country. I don't support this regime but lies from us readers when we comment is just shameful! Litiana was an intelligent girl so was her sister Ruby-anne. Maybe she stole the YEDHO idea & I wouldn't know that but as an ex St Joseph student I knew how brainy they were probably a gift passed on from their forefathers DEFINITELY not from their parents!

Some of you people simply don't (won't) get (accept)it?

Unless there's an indemnity clause Frank and his motley crew aren't going anywhere.

Even if there is there's no guarantee - he's stated publicly
"doesn't trust the people".

Radiolucas said...

@ Stealth

Not much of an alternative for any of us then is there?

Everyone has a choice. Frank & Aiyaz painted themselves into a corner and are trying to save face or at the very least, save their skins.

As for an indemnity, such a thing would chafe at the bit for many, many people after all the shit they have put us through.

Remember: each and every coup has dragged the country backwards. Each time we get back on our feet, some idiot with a half-baked idea, gets it into his head that Fiji needs their special new brand leadership.

THEY don't get it that we, the people, have the right to choose our leaders - whether or not they agree with this simple concept or like the leaders the majority chooses is irrelevant - if they don't like it they can protest, complain, rally support, get elected and become a real leader of the nation - not try to take a shortcut and use a gun.

This disgraceful"Kawaca ni coup" is reportly being paid a $85,000 salary plus house and car = a neat $170,000 per annum package. In addition to the extras for free meals, fuel, hotel rooms and other perks, the total works out to cool $4 grand per week of taxpayers money.

Not a bad effort because she has absolutely no experience and daddy's little girl cannot be forced to lift a finger at work.If daddy can do it then why not daughter??

What a great example daddy Voreqe is setting for his chldren by stealing from the people and sharing the stolen goods with them. After all wifey, son and all the inlaws of this misguided Bainimarama crime family have unashamedly, already taken nepotism to the extreme and are cashing in off the back of Fiji's hardworking and struggling taxpayers....bastards!!!

Radiolucas said...

@ Anon 1:46pm

All part of Frank's "clean up" campaign for Fiji.

His daughter is probably quite intelligent - but I agree with you and the other commentators that her relationship with our Great Leader means that she should NEVER have been given this role and if she had, her selection process should have been made public and open to criticism - so that she could stand on her own merits as a professional.

BUT, because they have done it without a semblance of transparency, it just all stinks of corruption and nepotism - the EXACT things that Frank was meant to be "cleaning up".

His great lies come back to haunt him again.

Wide Awake said...

Shame - where will these people go to when the world goes back to what it should be. Will they take to the bush villages in hiding or tough it out in Suva and Nadi? Hahaha by then they'll probably have enough money to live overseas - Malaysia, Hong Kong - won't be Europe but they will have been set up nicely to avoid those of us they've shat on from a high.

Jimioni, for your info, history has it that the Military structure was later adopted by the non-military institutions [business community if you like]and has stood the test of time.
In the non-military institutions, you have, casual workers, hourly paid workers, staff, senior staff, management staff and so on. In the military, you have the other ranks [privates], the junior non-commissioned officers [Lance Corprals and Corprals], the Senior non commissioned officers [Sgt/Ssgt/WO2 and WO1], then you have the Junior Officers [2Lt/Lt/Capt], then the Majors and LtCols in their own grouping, then the Colonels and Brigadiers in their grouping. Beyond that you have the Generals, from Maj Gen to General.
If you look closely at the "Red Tabs" on their collars, Colonels and Brigadiers are similar, whereas for Maj Gen and above it is different. The RFMF cannot make up their minds - they wear the British badge of rank, yet they refer to themselves as if they are in the US Army, where a Brigadier is referred to as a Brig-Gen [one star general].
So, in short, because they wear the British badge of rank, a Brigadier is a BRIGADIER- sega ni Brig-Gen. Only in FIJI!!

To Anon @ 9.27am - WHEN WAS LITIANA INTELLIGENT??? YOU MUST BE JUST ONE OF THEIR SUPPORTERS, IF YOU TRULY WENT O SCHOOL WITH LITIANA, GIVE US YOUR NAME??? LITIANA AND HER SIBLINGS, WHEN THEY WERE IN ST JOSEPH WERE ALWAYS GETTING FIJIAN AFFAIRS SCHOLARSHIP, EVEN WHEN THEY FAILED, THEY STILL GOT SCHOLARSHIP THE FOLLOWING YEAR, DO YOU KNOW WHY AND HOW? BECAUSE THEIR FATHER'S OLDER BROTHE (MELI BAINIMARAMA) WAS PS FIJIAN AFFAIRS, SO THEIR THIEVING HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR A VERY LONG TIME, THIS FAMILY (BAINIMARAMA) HAVE NO SHAME, THEY ARE THIEVES TO THE FIRST DEGREE!!! VOREQE, WIFE, CHILDREN - ALL THIEVES AND MATA NI TA KUNEA!!!

My prediction is that Voreqe will seek the Presidency of the FRU. He will probably succeed with this quest bearing in mind the $3 million sweetner to the FRU for the world cup campaign later this year.

Putting the broom through the FRU Board and getting a new set of members and 'yes' men will ensure that he gets his way. This has started with the Suva Rugby Union, which is chaired by his brother-in-law Kean.

As President of FRU, Voreqe will automatically qualify to attend the World Cup competition in New Zealand as a guest of the IRB with all expenses paid by them. This benefit is extended to Presidents of all national rugby bodies that compete at the World Cup. Voreqe knows this well as he had enjoyed the same benefit in Australia during the 2003 Rugby World Cup competition.

This also is a way, which I believe is the ultimate agenda here, to force the New Zealand Government to issue him with a visa and allow him to enter New Zealand. The queation is whether the New Zealand Government will do so. They may have no choice but to do so as the World Cup is an IRB sanctioned event. If that happens then Voreqe will have thumbed his nose at New Zealand and making a mockery of their travel ban on Voreqe.

If the New Zealand Government rejects Voreqe's entry visa then it may breach the IRB's protocols. Voreqe in turn may react in his childish ways and prevent the Fiji team from participating at the World Cup.

So it is laid bare there for you to imagine that the $3 million Government assistance for the FRU may have a lot of strings attached. It appears that the FRU has naively bought into the deal without fully understanding the consequences.

Another illustration of nepotism by the illegal regime but why are we complaining??? This is common for illegal and legal regimes in Fiji - look after your own!!! It is widely expected in Fiji. To enforce any "good" changes, t people of Fiji need to have an united front to wipe out these types of corruption, human rights abuses, etc...for a brighter future for the next generations!
