No free lunches or bus rides in Fiji

NO FREE RIDE: Children to pay.
On the same day the illegal education minister, Filipe Bole, tells the nation children need to be taught to handle money better, the own financial shortcomings of his ministry is wide open for all to see.

Parents, no doubt many of them struggling, have been told they have to pay for their kids bus fare next week when school starts.

Bole reckons coupons are on their way to schools but it will take some time and that electronic ticketing won't be ready until next term.

He told the launch of the Fiji Financial Education Development project in Suva this week that a $2.3million Australian Aid Programme funded project will give teachers the chane to teach students to be financiall savvy.

Bole talked of something called Going to the Shop Classes, which is apparently available in Classes one and two in social studies,  saying it will allow children to learn the 'concept of purchasing and exchange'.

Noble intentions as per. But all too shallow and somewhat typical of the false magnanimity of the regime. It, for example, just announced that no VAT would be charged on stationery, (yes, there were also free education packs but these came from Save the Children) but here just one week later it is asking parents to fork out for school fares.

The fares is an example of the regime's modus operandi of robbing Peter to pay Paul. To the gullible eye, everything appears to be running smoothly but a closer look shows holes and a government juggling too many balls and one that has traded off the best of Fiji to keep afloat and to present a false, victory front to the world.

The poorly led Fiji military has caused enough chaos on the country. They are now trying to infiltrate the Fiji rugby union. Enough is enough. Remove the FRU from the rugby world cup immediately. It is time for these coup perpetrators, their bludging families and all parasitic supporters to be crushed. fiji needs to return to freedom, the rule of law and democracy ASAP.

May be this stupid government and the dumb Army should go and sit with the Class 1 students in 2011 and learn how to handle Taxpayers money wisely.
Filipe, you should "DO THE RIGHT THING" and RESIGN.
Why do you continue to be part of something Illegal? You are not really helping anybody when you continue to support this government. Think of the people of Fiji and give them back their freedom. This idiot (your boss) who thinks that he knows what is best for us is a total moron. Please save us from his stupidity.
You go to church , and surely you would have heard that God wants us to always speak the truth.
So why do you suppress the truth?
The truth is your government is making more people poor. God does not want you to do that.
So please stop supporting this moron. We have had enough of his crap.

@ Anon

What is the point of your post? You say stop complaining because you are happy being busy in your teitei?

The military are destroying our country and dividing our people for their own greed and power.

All the tavioka in the world won't pay for school or put the petrol in my car.

Why don't you think about that when you are thinking of blaming Qarase for the rise in food/fuel prices.

It has been more than four years now. Enough bullshit talk.

Radio Otiose.

The last elected government of Fiji is a matter of contention to this very day and therefore it would be imprudent to suggest it was justly elected for there were anomalies which were cited in their report by the UN observers.

So what exactly is the difference between the Qarase Government and the current FRU board and the answer to that is absolutely nothing for the board are known benefactors or supporters and or are paid members of the crooked SDL party to which Qarase was head.

It is known fact you have aspirations of serving your country one day which must be encouraged however at times one must put aside their egocentricities and self-importance and to work for the greater good of the nation regardless of who’s in control.

The major problem that best our friendly nation is one that needs to be address immediately most native Fijians have lost not only the respect for their fellowman but have flushed their allegiance to their country.

So the time is upon you to do the right thing and be counted amongst your fellowman.

Work for the advancement of not only your people but the country.

Long live our Country.

The change in policy by Bole is not surprising because he is an idiot and a failed politician who lost his seat in 1999 election during the disastrous SVT campaign.

The SVT was known for its corruption and Voreqe has recruited heavily from their ranks for their experience in ripping off the country. We see criminal elements like Jim AhKoy,Inoke Kubuobola,Berenado Vunibob, Filipe Bole,Malani,Manueli and others greedily exploiting this lawless situation to line their pockets....bastards!!

"Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" - Samuel Johnson.

The difference between the FRU, Qarase and this dictatorship is that the FRU and Qarase are held accountable for their actions - Frank and his slimy incompetants are not. They are a law unto themselves. They have NO regard for good government, justice or our freedoms.

I serve my country as I serve my family and friends - but I would never do so blindly and I am not willing to ignore the military's complicity in the destruction of our nation and degradation of our people under the boots of a dictator.

You may be willing to avert your eyes from the obvious truth, but that is a moral and ethical dilemma for you alone. If you were truly happy with your choices, you wouldn't be so eager for others to follow you down that slippery slope.

@anonymous 9:22pm. Looks like you have swallowed FB's bullshit, hook, line and sinker that "the world is the cause of our rise in cost of living". Last time I checked, our number 1 trader (Australia) is not having a recession. Our number 7 trader (China) is not having a recession.
So how come we are having a recession?
May be if we teitei more Sugar Cane that might help.Ooops sorry! O did you say FSC is not working properly. Whose fault is it? Who brought the Indian handymen to come and fix it.
What about the millions of dollars wasted with military equipment while the patients in the hospital can't get their medicine.
May be we'll teitei more Ginger.
What about the children who can't go to school because their parents now unemployed because stupid Bainimarama policies.
May be we'll just go and build a mine in Vanua Levu. That will employ some people.
How stupid is this government!
I stand by the fact that this government is run by losers and if you can't see it my friend then God help us all.
All I can say is maybe YOU do deserve to be led by a stupid man like Bainimarama.

So true.

No elections = No government = No AID = No foreign investment = No economy = No jobs = No food = No future.

It is all so obvious - but the military don't care about Fiji's future, they only care about THEIR future.

Dictatorship at its best. Now the Fiji Rugby Union is in a mess after the infiltration of Bole and the regime. Rugby is the only thing that is holding the people of Fiji together. Once this is destroyed than the worst is very near for Fiji. What have you got to prove Bole. Look at your political career. Your good works have all now been tarnished by your joining the regime. You are one of the yes man and Bainimarama's leading puppet. Grow up Bole and see the starvation, unemployment, poverty that you and the regime have created. Crime is growing day by day. We cannot stop it because this is the outcome of the regime. The police have acknowledged the fact that crime is rising. Well the worst are yet to come I believe.
