Fiji's former 3rd infantry commander rallies Lau

Roko Ului Mara has come out fighting a day after being charged with sedition by his former masters.

Our sources say he has announced to the Vanua of Lau (after consulting all of the chiefs in the group), that Lau is no longer backing the Peoples Charter, a statement clearly showing  non-support for Bainimarama.

Coupfourpointfive has been told the former commander of the 500-strong 3rd Fiji infantry was at his Yatu Lau office today formalizing the recommendation for the Lau provisional meeting to adopt.

Roko Ului is the youngest son of the late Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara and chair of the Lau Provincial Council.

The military was also out today to show its might. Predictably, the current land force commander, Mosese Tikoitoga, said the RFMF was 100 per cent  behind Bainimarama and would continue to protect Fiji citizens.

The police commissioner, Iowane Naivalurua, meanwhile refused to say if anyone else will be charged.

Coupfourpointfive would like to remind readers of the list it printed just over a month ago (March 28) of those being  investigated by the police and the DPP, and those  shortlisted to be charged for allegedly trying to overthrow Bainimarama.

Our list went like this:
a) Roko Ului, Mohammed Aziz (although he remains in the army), Pita Driti from the Army
b) Tevita Lesu, SSP Tabakau, Tevita Uluilekeba from Police

c) Epeli Ganilau (picture right), the former Minister of Defence.

The former police commissioner, Esala Teleni, was on the list to be interviewed but sources say the questions that were sent to him remain unanswered.

  4. Fark the CharterMay 5, 2011 at 10:58 PM

The so called 'people's charter' is a load of crap. it was written by some mongoose coup supporter who ripped off innocent taxpayers money - a common thief. Time to reject this regime and everything it stands for - thugs and cowards. No compromise, no mercy, just crush the vermin.

  5. Bainimarama and Aiyaz, this is a very serious warning to you and all those holding illegal leadership position in the Fiji Goverment today. Matanitu TOVATA is marching out right NOW and stand behind our Chiefs, in this case are Ratu Epeli Ganilau and Roko Ului Mara. You used us all the way to put you where you are today. We took the streets of Suva before since 1987 uptil 2000 in MAJORITY NUMBERS including the Prisoner's mass outbreal and escape from Naboro Prisons to have breakfast with the then Governor General, Ratu Sir Penaia Ganilau, in the supports of our Chiefs, Vanua and Lotu. Do not forget the LOVO infront of Ratu Sukuna's statue at Government building where one indian Richard N, about to be roasted alive, if it was not for the quick action of the soldiers Richard would be eaten to prove that we were from cannibal decendants. Though I was not at the Love on that day but I am ready for it now. Roko Ului it is your call and let us do it. Look what Bainimarama and Aiyaz had done sacks everyone once they got up there ... To you Judge Gate and other judges, you were illegally sworn in for the post so beware of the day that you will be thrown out of the balcony.

    Backagain

  7. Would the Chairman of the Lau Provincial Council have the sole mandate to rescind the Council’s previous pro Bainimarama/Aiyaz resolution? Has it come a bit too late for the young Chief to attempt renege on his previous water tight support.

Last time we checked, the other 3” bui ni masi “ pledges of support for the Government road map to democratic process stands! These support are in addition to the Burebasaga and Kubuna confederacies.

The Chiefs and elders of Lau may just counsel the young Chief to step aside until after the Court case against him.

  13. Roko Ului is not a soldier -- he's a cry-baby running back to his province to withdraw support for the Charter. BIG DEAL!! Lau's non-support for the Charter doesn't matter one iota anymore.
Bainimarama kicked him out of the army and now he's charged with sedition. He needs to be a man and front up to the fact that he's not a politician but an incompetent soldier who hasn't got the balls to test Frank's military might.
Roko Ului should leave politics to the real politicians and do some soul searching about why he supported (blindly and like a fool) Bai's rape of democracy - and DO THE RIGHT THING - correct the wrong that he has done to the people of this country - COUP Frank.
Roko Ului needs to face reality - Lau doesn't have the political power it once had ... it's simply suckling survival milk from the taxpayers of this country and Lauans will tell you quietly that they're ready to cow-tow to Bainimarama for survival's sake - Roko Ului doesn't offer an alternative for them. He doesn't even command the same degree of respect that's accorded his older siblings. Remember that song - From a Jack to a King? Well in Roko Ului's case the song is: From a King to a Thing!! And when he gets into Prison it'll be: How Do I Protect My Ring!!

  19. It would be better for Roko Ului/Rt Tevita to just go quietly because this government and Bai's leadership is cast in stone. Lau is just a small piece of Fiji and they do not contribute much to Fiji's economy. They can go and have their own government.

Roko Ului himself was known as a biggest abuser of military power after the takeover of 2006. His dismissal from the military is not only to do with seditious behaviour but also with personal conduct against civilians which directly goes against Frank's clean up. The only thing I can tell here is that he will be a man all alone in what he is trying to do and he won't have majority support anywhere except in his village in Tubou. Maybe they don't want him too.

  20. Reading the above blogs it looks like Ului's past is back to haunt him. The 2006 coup was orchestrated by these loser Ratu's who couldn't accept the people's decisions during elections. They backed the idiot Bai to carry out their dirty work for them. They forgot about the people and were too busy looking after themselves. Now they're in trouble they come running back to ask for the people's help in trying to reign in the mad dictator that they themselves created! How about you man up and take him out yourself since you're the ones with the guns...bunch of idiots the lot of them!!!

  22. When he waS AT THE TOP drowned in prieveledgea, money, power, ..he never cared about Lauans. He defrauded Govt through his business, sold fishing licences to Asians, supported and directed torture on innocent Fijians, murdres on Fijians and force removal of human rights from citizens.....Now that his boss has stripped him of all that , he finds it convenient for selfish reasons to use his Lauan connection against his treasonous colleagues.

Sona levu Ului, we Lauans are no fools. Let Bainimarama vutuka nomu sona o luveni yali kawa ca.

  23. Let us all pray that these developments do not end in bloodshed. While I wished that someone has the balls to stand against Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum and his dimwitted puppet the cassava patch hero, there is a serious risk that a widening rift in the military is resolved violently. It is the time now for all Fijian soldiers to take a hard look what they want to be: the protectors of the people or the protectors of a man whose agenda is the destruction of anything Fijian. And all those who believe that Fiji deserves better that being bled to death by a small group of thugs led by Khaiyum may want to ask the question: Are our brothers really going to shoot us when we demand our freedom?

    ReplyDelete
  24. @ Masivou.

Last time we checked your were not the Matanivanua for eitheir Tovata
    or the Cakaudrove.

    @ Semi Meo.
Surprised at you of all people making such an outragous and out of charactor statement - Burebasaga & Kubuna both support the peoples charter(thus indirectly the regime).
Both Ro Temu & Ratu Joni would beg too differ.

  26. The Navy is already running the show, backed by Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum.
If Francis Kean takes over as Commander of the Military and Frank Bainimarama as President, then who will be Prime Minister ?
Will Frank Bainimarama appoint Aiyaz as Prime Minister ?
Will Aiyaz as Prime Minster, having ridden on the back of the RFMF since December the 5th. 2006, disband the Military because Fiji can't afford it anymore or because it would become a threat to him as P.M. and Frank as President ?
    Check Mate !

  29. Trash the regime charterMay 6, 2011 at 4:43 PM

The regime charter is a load of crap. People are only supporting it to placate the ego of the fool dictator and get freebies. It is called coup corruption. Pigs in the trough. Once they are not getting payola the joke of a charter can be thrown in the bin.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Croz is still bleating about that roaring success.... the Fijian Military Regime Charter....'And these should be based on the principles of the People’s Charter that was endorsed by at least 60 percent of Fiji’s adult population — and is not mentioned at all by Mr Chaudhry!' because the charter to which you refer was devised by an illegitmate regime that has no business preaching to others about it's idea of democracy considering they have not the slightest intention of being bound by it or any civilian control. The charter process was not allowed to be scrutised by any non-military observers and police were present(i don't recall any security threats whatsoever)as part of a 'education team', villagers were left with the 'take it or leave it option' and left in no uncertain terms that you are either with us or against us and hence part of the problem. There was PER in place and no opportunity to voice ANY opposition. Presumably this is how you expect the new reforms to work??

  37. Bloggers let Ului & Driti travel their own journey, make up their civilian hours and learn some senses especially the 6th one (common-S) and integrity while we sit back and watch. We should not be mistaken about these two, if they are with us (force-taki) or in prison, still they are military idiots who supported FB and helped creating the monster. Ului is now saying that Lau no longer supports the pee.pee.charter, the support he had referred to was the one imposed by no other but Ului himself using goons/greens/guns (kulina!!!). He said that he had consulted all the Tikinas, is he telling the truth? Or another common lie from a mate of a serial liar (FB). Lauans, if we are not careful, this man will become a DICTATOR of the Lauans, so let us be vigilant

Stay Blessed, God Bless the Blog Site and the Bloggers.
