Insiders: Bainimarama's daughter nails 'sweet deal' for her and dad

LET THERE BE LIGHT: But first we need $3.4 million dollars.

The spotlight has gone on the tender process to upgrade the light stands at the National Stadium in Suva, approved last week at a hugely inflated price of $3.4 million dollars.

Insiders say the tender was signed off  behind closed doors by none other than the CEO of the Fiji Sports Council - the daughter of Frank Bainimarama, Litiana Bereso, who critics say got the job thanks to his influence.

The contract was won by Sigatoka Electrical but those in the know say local contractors valued the work at a market rate of just over $1 million dollars.

So why was the contract so high and where is the money going? Insiders claim Sigatoka is making a grand profit of half a million and Bainimarama's daughter a sweet $2 million for herself and her Dad.

Building industry sources say the cost of importing material from China would be about $20,000 per light; with installation costs and miscellaneous at $30,000, it would push it to $50,000. Removing the old posts, which would require a crane and digger and preparation etc would add another $10,000 per post, hiking it to $60,000. Add another $60,000 for labour and any other hidden costs (including a reasonable 'profit' at $10,000) would still only put the upgrade at $130,000 maximum. With four lights, the total should still be well under $1million at F$520,000.

Critics say while it looks like a case of 'like father like daughter', the irony is that the illegal prime minister was only last weekend lecturing people about corruption at the Fiji Institute of Accountants (FIA) conference saying a Commission of Inquiry is needed to look after the FIA complaints.

Sources say the push to drive auditors into a corner was mooted by the illegal attorney general, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum but had to have to come from his accountant aunt, Nur Bano Ali. The illegal AG's connections to Sigatoka is also believed to have helped Sigatoka Electrical win the competitive tender.

The four light stands at the stadium were supposed to have been upgraded late last year but the Sports Council is only just getting to them now. The multi-purpose National Stadium, which is also known as the TFL Stadium, is mostly being used for rugby, league and football matches and can hold about 10,000 spectators.

Question: Who are the people who can help build a new, free and fair Fiji?

You're watching Fiji One News! The headlines, there was a daylight robbery at the reserve bank this morning. It was the robbery of the century because the thieves walked into the bank on red carpets and personally guided by the bank manager on how to break into the safe. They even have time to have a 'taki' with the bank security officers before returning to their home with their spoils....ooo...we have breaking news...the PM have just congradulated the thieves on the job well done...yes...you heard it right...he had just congratulated them on a job well done!

Just before we go...we just want to let our viewers know that this will be our headlines for the rest of their lives....unless they choose otherwise...moce mada!

We are not interested in all these things, as we will all be accountable and answereable in front of Father when we leave this world, nothing is hidden in his eyes, he knows about everything even when you have not invented an idea. So people, relax and pray, let the Lord be the judge and he will issue the right punishment. Let this not take us down, be faithful and true to your self and the little things we do, because someone is watching and each one of us we pay for the price of our individual actions.

Well, we only hope Ratu Mara's own road map to democracy, the young Chief shared with Samoan PM, includes investigating those who were investigating the corruption of the investigation of the corruption of the investigation of the corruption…..zzzzz……

Seems Fiji’s moral psyche has been piped to the infamous Kinoya pool…all…all including the moral advocates and moral police have probably been desensitized to the alleged downwards spiral of sanity.

Where are we headed? Of course, the Aiyaz spin clouds the moral reasoning of those who see the red light of ravaging moral decay, but powerless to dig within and rebuke or rebel for the common good.
We also hear the Co Prime Minister Rear Admiral now bravely conceals ailment irreversibly eating inside of him…

Could someone tell him to quit??..(someone, who does not value his/her life or reputation)Pls do that while he has natural breath to redeem himself…just that accolades and glorious eulogies may just be too late to prepare him meet his maker…kerekere,Tauvu.

We should take a good look at ourselves for all that have been happening since arrogant Rabuka (the father of all major modern Fiji coup d'etat.

It is not Rabuka; it is not Bainimarama or whoever but it's us especially our arrogant snobbish, selfrighteous, self centred egocentric. high minded foolish traditional chiefs and leaders in Parliament, Government and Non Government Bodies.

Through this heartless directionless, impractical and certainly very lousy leadership, Fiji as a society had conceived, gave birth to, bred and raised these animals; rearing their ugly heads in four coups (1987, 1989, 2000, and 2006).

If there were others who should be blamed also, then do not forget those sitting in highly strategic positions for a long time; people like arrogant Joji Kotobalavu, mentally retarded Anare Jale and the like; individuals who were placed in such positions not on merits; PS and CEOs in the 1980s to 2006 as advisors but slept on their watch.

I suggest that all those who had served in strategic executive of Government and Non Government Organisations (CEO, PS, etc) before 2007 and of course all Army people are not to be considered to take Fiji forward after all these challenges (military government leadership have come to pass.

As GOD is my witness, all these will come to pass...nothing goes on forever, even all GOD's creation...BUT ONLY GOD ETERNAL...

Seems like everything Frank does is to fill his own family pockets and labelled corrupt by you so called DEMOCRACY advocates. Starting to sound like an old record player or whining old woman.DEMOCRACY has not worked in Fiji lets all get that straight. It hasn't worked because DEMOCRACY IS CORRUPT. Let the military style leadership rule till 2014. And see what the verdict is. And dont say the economy is going to be run down by then. If it does then I don't think that there will be anywhere under this sun that the military governement can hide to face the wrath of the people. Right now unfortunately he has their support and confidence.

@Tiger Balm...appreciate what? The fact that our tourism industry is down the tubes? Or our sugar industry is worse off than ever? Or Air Pacific is losing and looking at shutting down? Or other businesses have gone bust which means that we now have more people unemployed which means that more children will miss out on a lot of schooling because their parents can't afford to pay fees or bus fares or the fact that our police posts and health clinics have vastly reduced in numbers or our roads are worse than Peru?

What do you suggest we appreciate?

We'd love to appreciate something, but what?

Why are you not printed my say, it should be transparent, isn't what transparency is all about.
Letting the propel of Fiji and the world know what was going on when Felix and his partner in crime did with the FNPF money, made themselves rich. Why hide what the world needs to read about, itf you are not printing this than you must be just as bad as what they are.
Cunning dirty ,sly Felix is time is over, naboro is waiting no more house party with his dirty Dan urai and his union mobs, that he sits with every Sunday, and talk about rotting the system how they can get rich.
Please make sure this is printed, I have written so many things and you are not printing to allow my say and let the people know what was going on. We are the people he took our money , our hard work, blood sweat and tears, money we work hard, for our children. Not for Felix and Dan.

The really sad thing as shown by some comments is that people are becoming numb and just seeing this as another day. This is not normal behaviour an we should be outraged everytime corruption like this is exposed. Thank you c4.5 for exposing and documenting this so that people will answer for the abuse of tax dollars.

I take my hat off to the Bainimarama family. They deserve to become wealthy. Bainimarama is strong. The people of Fiji are weak and stupid, so the law of nature says he should win and they should lose. I do not feel sorry for the people of Fiji at all.
However I do hope for their children and grandchildren's sakes that they smarten up.

Come on guys let the leader have some money. He works hard, never takes leave, supports his kids, like every father would and you give him a hard time. Let him have a bit of income on the side, look at guys like Mugabe, Mubarak or Ben Ali, these man have stolen billions from their countries. And we wince about two or three million of this worthless monopoly money. Get real and admire Frank. For a man with very limited intellectual capacity and practically no education he has grown into the role of the Dear Leader very quickly. So don't be jealous you would all do the same thing, given the opportunity. Make peace with Khaiyum and Marama, get on the gravy train. A bit of ass kissing and you are in. Write an e-mail to aunty Nur telling her that you admire her nephew, give her your bank details and she will send you money. And if this is not enough, get yourself a few ministerial portfolios and receive a pay cheque like no other. But stop whining.

Anonymous said...

This is how it works. If you are buddies with Frank and AG you are rewarded and offcourse there are kickbacks for them. And you wil never be charged or investigated by FICAC.
Heard through the grapevines that AG covered the Dilen /Janty Kaba post scandal. They made millions supplying goods at highky inflated prices. They were going to be investigated but through buddy AG all has been put away hush hush.
PM look into this...if Mac and Bhika went in, thse guys shoud join in. If you are genuine about cleaning up corruption, find out why and how these guys are getting away

The inflated costs go into into the same funding where the inflated salary's are going. Their is some external influence pouring money in under the pretext of wages/development. Obviously the 8 years is to build that monetary buffer in preparation for ELections whenever they its right time to have one. So yeah....the longer we sit and watch and blog day in day out we are carving out our own DOOM!!! Come Fiji let's stand for our forefathers and more importantly our future generation!!!!!! STAND and BE COUNTED!

Question: Who are the people who can help build a new, free and fair Fiji? Need a Committee made of independent representatives to set up the protocols and systems for the first immediate democratic election. This political system can be tweaked and changed in subsequent elections through Referendums at each election. Have one official from NZ, Aussie, UN, USA, China, Pacific Islands, as well one Fijian, Indian and another to represent the other races in Fiji. The elections have to include Fijians Indians, other minorities in Fiji, Fijian Chiefs Council and Religions.

New Zealand has today received extradition papers sent by Fiji for former RFMF 3FIR commanding officer Ratu Tevita Mara.

This was confirmed to FijiLive by Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

He said the New Zealand Foreign Affairs Ministry received the extradition papers at 12.30pm.

Sayed-Khaiyum said Fiji has also filed Mara’s extradition papers with Tonga and Australia.

Mara was in Australia last week to address a meeting in New South Wales. He later met with the Samoan Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele on the last day of his state visit to Australia.

NBF started to be chewed up during the Alliance time. It was set up by an act of parliamnet introduced by the then Finance minister Charles Stinson. It was his baby which he himself started to eat. That was how the Stinson Pearce Group was established and later became Prouds after being bought by another Alliance stalwart Mahend Patel. Interesting to see the click work involved in the ownership change of this company. NBF was very much the financier of the whole deal.

They have two daughters but Litian was kicked out by her husband soon after the 2006 Coup, now they have divorced.

At Wellington, Litiana was employed with Prudential Assuarance/Insurance Company as a common Clients Clerk. So, she has made a giant king-kong leap from a Common-Clerk to CEO. Vinaka Baini-VUAKAzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

OBSERVER June 18, 2011 6:43 AM.

How damn true! The cause of whats happening to Fiji right now is the result of the all the lies we told about Indo-Fijians stealing oue lands. The bullshit about & threats to the Fijian land. We simply did not have the guts to say "only a Fijian should be elected into Parliament or hold the position of Pm etc. The lies are now catching up and some just seem to see that. What Bainimarama is now saying and doing is opening the eyes of the Kai Viti. Yes they say they feel the hard times but for once they can see a future and not the lies. They now know that their hands has always been safe & secure so the question they now ask what was all the 'crap' that was being given to us in previous years? It now appears they are beginning to see how much they have suffred while an elite gotup of Fijians enjoyed and pilfered from the Govt coffers. The Pacific super powers can see the good Bainimarama is doing by can't say because it might get people in their own lands thinking & hey teh Maoris migh wake up. In Aussie there are not many Indigenous people around to satge a march-they have all been killed off form their traditional lands. When did you last see an Indigenous Aussie who came form the North Sydney tribes or for that matter. The largest population of Indigneous Australian live on Palm Island in Queeensland-not one is from that one, when was the last time you saw and indigenous Tasmanian? Food for thought -when the Indigenous Fijian is happy, not getting conned; than the rest of Fiji can live together in harmony. Our politicians have brough us to this point by looking at issues that divide us, never at issues that bring us together as a Nation. So what are we builders of a united Fiji or just on the band wagon to get we can for ourselves, then disappear & create another division. Some now trying to champion the cause for democracy, they are the very reason we in this muck we are now in. We just never seem to learn.

FICAC will only investigate when they are told by their boss and this department is under Aiyaz.

Mr Rayawa who used to work at FICAC and is now in DPP will not be allowed to be a witness where he was called for a case against FICAC. What are FICAC worried about?

Mr Rayawa might spill the beans on what goes on at FICAC. After all we now know what happens in the judicial system. And the government is saying there is a fair hearing for everybody!

Reliable sources say that once a case is heard by a judge, a certain former woman judge writes the judgement. I wonder if this is what is happening? And the judgement is written according to what the leaders want.

If this the case, then really, where is the fair court trials that they are talking about.
