Insiders: Fiji prisons preparing for political prisoners

HATCHING AND DISPATCHING:  The ambitious Khaiyum.

Informers say the illegal regime is showing signs of desperation as it moves to arrest anyone who will stand up to it and manipulates even more of Fiji's laws to quell any moves for democracy.

Sources say the illegal attorney general, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum, has quickly drafted the Prisons decree which will for the first time in Fiji history allow Prison officers to be equipped with firearms and authorizing them to use them whenever necessary.

The illegal president, Epeli Nailatikau, had on May the 16th via decree granted absolute powers to the Fiji prisons services to arm themselves with lethal weapons, such as small arms and sniper and K2 rifles.

Readers will remember we reported the regime had earlier cleared Naboro maximum prison and were to charge Pita Driti and Roko Ului Mara.

Insiders say Khaiyum and Frank Bainimarama have now come up with the Prisons decree because they want to arrest anyone who is willing to stand up to them to be taken in and kept as political prisoners under heavy guard.

They say the regime will allow royal army officers to take up position at prison as guards who will carry the approved firearms.

Informers say throughout the years, all prisons in Fiji had small tactical teams of 10 with anti-riot gears, rubber bullets, tear gas and batons to counter any uprising in prisons – but the illegal government is now arming all prison officers with weapons.

Editor's Note: On Friday, three uniformed RFMF officers targeted a citizen they've previously taken in for questioning several times, holding him from 12pm to 7pm. No reason was given for his detainment in what's been described as a clear case of intimidation or arbitrary arrest. Charges have also been laid against two men from Tubou village in Lakeba for allegedly breaching the Public Emergency Regulations. One has been charged with a malicious act and three counts of forgery, the other with  inciting and giving false information. The regime claim Peni Mapa and Malakai Sobanivalu forged the names of elders in a letter to Bainimarama telling him he was not welcome at Lakeba. They appear in court this morning.

  1. The angle on this article is ALL wrong! Vutulaki Bocimaga and Arse-gonna get-Boomboom are arming the guards so that they can go and hide at Naboro with their protection...YEAH RIGHT! If this isn't another example of Megalomania gone wrong, I don't know what is!

  2. "Da sarava mada na matanimeke" just recalling the legal PM's comment. Now things are getting clearer...they'll be diverting the people's money toward the development of their defence system... the scared rats will of course run us dry as they are desperate to survive. But, it's just a matter of time .. the timebomb will surely explode at the right time...More decree will create more problem to the illegal regime.. they are digging their own grave... too scared of their own shadow.

  16. was not surprised to see FB giving out medals to his senior officers and promote some of them. He thinks that we cant read the situation. He is simply doing that to gain their support. How many Lt Col the FMF has now???? How many total officers does it have now???
How much are they paid now and how much revenue does the FMF contribute to the country's ailing economy. I believe the military is over strength and over ranked. Thus too much money is drained by the FMF.
I believe most of the FMF pers don't agree with the current course which FB is taking the country to now, but, they are just there for the sake of their family. Am so sorry for them and they dont have any other alternatives but to stay on. Poor guys..no plan B for them as well...

  17. To have effective democracy there is a need for good and honest politicians.

I Fiji's case since 1987, politicians have come and gone, however standard of living of ordinary people have not changed much.

I am not sure if there is any difference if Fiji returns to democracy.

    ReplyDelete
  18. So, now it begins, really begins. Feels like Nazi Germany and everybody is the enemy. Two men, basically who want to hold the country hostage and terrorize the people have now stepped up their campaign.

Now the weapons are not just there but they have been drawn up and aimed AT ALL OF US!

Mara, if you are a soldier at all, you know where this will go. Did you run because you realized that you were working for an insane asylum? You, of all people, know that those triggers WILL be pulled.

The rest of us are here. We still have the heart and the determination to stand down our oppressors.

At what cost? And when will you actually ACT? Plato

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is this what Frank means by "mobilising the economy"?
    How very sad!
I feel sorry for the soldiers who must go to work and to be humiliated by the stupidity of this man.
No foreign army to fight. Only to stand there and follow the orders of a demented man who is being manipulated by an even more demented egotistical maniac.
Every army fights on the goodwill and support of those at home. But this army has turned on its own population.
Because of their wickedness, God has confused their minds.
Their plans will come to nought.
Their stolen money will see no profit.
They sow but only reap weeping and gnashing of teeth.
They buy the best doctors but health deserts their bodies.
They look for sleep but are rewarded only with tossing and turning in the night.
"Unless the Lord builds the house , they labpour in vain they that build it."
Bainimarama has chosen to build a house on lies and oppression.

The house is already beginning to crumble.
    Thank you Jesus!

  21. Fellow citizens - we are now the enemy and the line has been drawn in the sand between us and two people. Those two people have their finger on the trigger and it is pointed at all of us. Why? Because we demand our freedom and democracy back. Why for them? Because they are illegal dictators with their backs against a wall.

Can they do it? It would appear so since soldiers/prison guards (what's the difference?) have been paid an additional $200 (of our money)to shoot on command. Beware, soldiers, some of those people you may be ordered to shoot at will be your own family.

Judas, for the cheap price of thirty pieces of silver. And in the end, you will do likewise, and all hang yourselves.

Use your brains and not your robot formula. God gave you brains, a heart and reason. Use them before you are lost. A martyr dies only long enough to stop breathing but a traitor and annihilator to his fellowman dies an eternal death.
Comissioner of Police, former Commissioner of Prisons, Naivalarua, is this the command you have given your successor?!
We are now officially a war zone. To speak, think or object may very well cost your your life.

In all places, Fiji, the Garden of Eden, we find the Serpent has made his bed.

Mara act now, and I know you can because of the insider knowledge you have. Act now - because it will most probably be your own family that is sacrificed first. Act now - because you didn't before. Plato

  37. Have anyone read The Fiji Times??? It states "WILD PIGS EAT CANE"(sunday, 5th june). This have shown that the Almighty God have CURSED the sugarcane lands, where one of Fiji's main source of income comes from... loss costing millions of dollars.

The wild pigs attack on sugarcane farms started in 2009 but it was in a small scale until it got worse this year... WHAT A COINCIDENCE, it started in 2009!!!! The year in which this Illegal Evil PM Bainivuaka PROMISED the people of Fiji that there's going to be an Election... Everyone knows what happens there... ELECTION POSTPONED UNTIL 2014... So he can fill up his own pockets with Khaiyum.... Baivuaka is just a COMPULSIVE LIAR... THERE WONT BE ANY ELECTION AT ALL IN 2014...

Even the wild pigs have protested and turned against Bainivuaka as well by destroying one of our countries economy backbone, The Sugarcane Industry... The wild pigs have stopped destroying root crops such as dalo and cassava which shows how much they care for the long suffering people of Fiji... But they have caused havoc in the sugarcane farms which have Cripple the Economy... This destruction is of Biblical Proportion...

The wild pigs have started there protest by destroying the sugarcane farms... Its now time for the long suffering people to STAND UP and UNITE and staged a massive protest through the city of Suva and bring down this CORRUPT EVIL REGIME and dethrone the Evil Tryant Bainivuaka....

  40. Let's face it..the main reason the illegal interim government is running scared is because, if there ever were elections, he (FB) would have to stand AND win in order to avoid a prison sentence. As we all know - he'd never have a chance in hell of winning anything. Unless of course he keeps deferring the elections or not having any at all.

If his agenda is to not hold elections to bring back democracy, then he'd be making plans to hold PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS in 2014. We know how power hungry he is and definitely wants ultimate power over Fiji and its people but ultimately not go to prison.

He would have to stand for these presidential elections - again, not a chance of winning.

In either case if he won he would manipulate laws (throw in another decree) so that he would not face trial and jail time. However, if he lost - FB would face a lifetime of imprisonment along with his band of idiots. Arming prison officers could possibly be his way of ensuring "protection" for when (if) he goes in.

Never have we had armed prison guards but FB's insecurity is showing through.

    ReplyDelete
  41. To you bloggers and people who wants to start a protest and saying LAMUSONA to Fijian. Fiji does not have better tools like Indian and other races have to start the fire. Protesters need a starter and see if you can help them.

How about you close the shops in Towns and Cities - Shutters Down - and stop all public transports for a week or more?

These ripple effets will bring both major races closer to each other at homes, in the fields and everywhere. But if you Indian's shop and transport owners could not give that loving hands to help than please just shut up and keep operating your businesses to improve our down economy..

One thing, Bainimarama is the best option to lead Fiji for a long time. So please leave him alone and tow the line to success.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The tryant cut all the govermnent pensions to all persons even just thought of being opponents-based on illegal decree. This pension is not junta fathers monies but what the former persons who served government deserve.

now they themselves paying each other 700000 each year?

Who do this two think they are? to cut the stomach of others and feed themselves with public funds of such amount even libya gadafi not pay himself?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Fiji needs a Government of National Unity that can lead to elections and also bring about truth, reconciliation and prosecution of the junta for its crimes.

Fiji cant go to elections that is free and fair under PER or Marshal Law.

All citizens must oppose any constitution shoved up their backsides which will happen cos illegal AG already prepared this and boycott any elections

    ReplyDelete
  44. Nothing sinister about the law on arms in regards to Prison Guards. A similar provision was in the previous Prison Act.

In spite of this the department has never really acquired arms apart from riot control equipments. So the decree in intself is and should not be cause for alarm. However, if they start purchasing arms then the public should be concerned. Fiji does not have the money to be purchasing unnecessary items.

    ReplyDelete
  45. With regard Mahendra Patel and the above cartoon
FICAC's own figures have shown that last year they received 9300 complaints but only produced 15 convictions.
Motibhai & his supporters have been squeeling unfair over his one year prison sentence. Now the Baini' illegal Government get many things wrong but they got this one right. However, the sentence which should have been 4-5 yrs was rorted down to just one year. Many years ago I challenged this guy over a personal honesty matter that left me out of pocket. I got no satisfaction. Just last year, I confronted him at the Port of Call restaurant at the Sheraton Denarau about the same matter.I was an in house guest. One of his staff at Prouds who knew I was looking for him tipped me off. Once again he refused to make good. The guy is a dishonest & lying snake & has been implicated in former coups.Like gangsters Crims' often get caught on the smallest crimes. The Town Clock in itself was a nothing.

We all know that the families of these criminals are not blind to what they have done but they have been only too willing to partake of the spoils (and help to steal them). For that they will pay. The Bible says that a wife can pray for the soul of her husband to see the true Light and the Way. The PM/AGs' wives have been too busy counting their social engagements and wondering what to buy next with their new found wealth.(Our money, by the way!)

Share A new Commissioner’s Local Orders for the Fiji Prisons and Corrections Services is now in place and according to authorities it is aimed at rehabilitating prison inmates.

Spokesperson Josefa Matau said they are focusing more on rehabilitation than containment of prisoners.

There is an audio file attached to this story. Please login to listen.

The Commissioner’s Orders for the Corrections Services also has the use of firearms by authorized prison officers in certain situations.
