Moving Fiji forward: Toso Viti Toso!

The fight for democracy for Fiji took the wrong turn this week, thanks to a few people pushing their own agendas and looking for a piece of the pie.

The catalyst was Nik Naidu of the Fiji Coalition of Democracy, revealing publicly the Coalition was lobbying the New Zealand government not to grant  Roko Ului Mara an exemption to visit to meet with the pro-democracy movement.

Within a few days, Naidu (and then Coupfourpointfive) were being aggressively lobbied and attacked by the former SDL MP, Rajesh Singh, and Shailendra Raju, the former media officer and trusted man of the Fiji Labour Party leader, Mahendra Chaudhry.

In the space of just a few days and  via comments on the blog and widely-circulated emails (we will reveal these if need be) Rajesh and Raju  set out to 'expose' Naidu as a 'hoax bomber', confronted him at a face-to-face meeting, formed a new group (using the name an internal group in Fiji had been using for some time to fight the cause) and started a campaign of character assassinations.

We say this is not the time for this rubbish and we are not going to play their game. Instead, we say  it's time we started looking seriously at who Fiji's leaders are and the people we need to support as we  prepare for a return to democracy.

So Coupfourpointfive tonight launches a campaign to find and name the people and their affiliations who can take Fiji forward. We would like to hear your nominations and we will publish a list after five days.

Meanwhile, we bring you the following story to remind people that Fiji can do without the bullshit that made it so easy for Bainimarama to take Fiji hostage.

Ratu Ului’s visit to New Zealand used by new democracy group to settle personal feud with Nick Naidu over $5million compensation claim
A special Coupfourpointfive investigation reveals that Indo-Fijian democracy campaigners in Auckland have sinister motives against democracy campaigner Nick Naidu, who opposes the pending visit to New Zealand of the fugitive, Colonel Ratu Uluilakeba Mara.

The feud between Rajesh Singh, Shailendra Raju and Nick Naidu revolves around the Narayan/ YP Reddy Estate in Fiji.
It seems the former SDL assistant Cabinet Minister Singh has been unwittingly sucked into the feud by Raju, who has a long running legal wrangle with Nick Naidu’s first cousin and human rights campaigner and lawyer, Richard Naidu, of Munro Leys in Fiji. Richard Naidu’s firm had acted on behalf of Y P Reddy.
Raju is the principal complainant and personal representative of the Narayan Estate, acting on behalf of Narayan’s widow Rosa Reddy, who resides in Mount Roskill in Auckland.
Coupfourpointive can reveal Raju had sought the assistance of the dictator Frank Bainimarama as contained in a letter dated September 15, 2010, and addressed by Raju to “Bula Vinaka Turaga Prime Minister - Re: Breach of Companies Act – Oppressive Conduct Estate of Narayan Reddy’s complaint of $5,000,000 Fraud of its Reddy Group of Companies Shares and Dividends by YP Reddy and Other Directors of Reddy Group.”
In his letter Raju writes as follows: “It was your promise to the nation that you would endeavour to protect and promote the interest of the weak and vulnerable in the society from rich and powerful vultures like YP Reddy.

YP REDDY
"It is time now to make good that promise in the interest of those who look for justice from your government. Prima Facie; the evidence of fraud has been established and therefore he must be subjected to the same law regardless of his prominence and wealth. The Office of the DPP is considering the evidence and I envisage that this independent process would result in charges against the directors for the $5m fraud and money laundering.”
Coupfourpointfive decided to conduct an investigation of its own when it received the following chain e-mail sent by Rajesh Singh to New Zealand TV 3, and stating the following:

The criminal case is against the following:

YP Reddy (New Zealand Resident)
Rohit Reddy (NZ Citizen)
Kalpana Reddy (NZ Citizen)
YP Reddy owns 3 hotels in NZ, 1 each in Samoa and Vanuatu plus 6 in Fiji. He is in the inner cycle of the regime and often takes trips with Frank Bainimarama.

We have documents and letters including a letter from Solicitor General of Fiji which confirms that they also lodged a complaint with police but subsequently the prime minister directed police to stop the criminal investigations against the businessman.

Nick Naidu is closely associated with the businessmen and thus the strange opposition to Mara to please Frank Bainimarama.

Please see letters attached in confidence to qualify our claim that YP Reddy is facing fraud charges but there are moves to stop the prosecution.

The question is why is the prime minister interfering in the case? where is the independence of the police and the judiciary?

Please call us for discussion.

Regards
Rajesh Singh

Coupfourpointfive understands that while Y P Reddy wants to settle the claim with the Narayan Estate, he has set a condition to exclude Raju from any talks resulting in an amicable settlement.

Raju stands to lose financially, for he strongly believes that it was he who forced Y P Reddy and the family to the negotiating table. Ratu Ului’s impending visit is now being used as a “dhoti” or “sulu” in which the democracy campaigners are wrapping themselves to settle financial scores.

Raw Fiji News
Pita Driti missing since Friday

leave a comment »

Elusive Pita Driti

There are credible reports from Fiji awhile ago that Frank Bainimarama’s former Landforce Commander, Pita Driti, has disappeared since last Friday.

It is unknown where Driti is, however, insiders say that his disappearance has come as no surprise after his renegade Ului Mara slipped through Frank’s rather loose security watch.

Driti’s disappearance is a sweet response to New Zealand government’s invitation that they will accept key members of Frank’s junta if they decide to split from him now.

There are also reports that road blocks were quite evident in key strategic spots around Viti Levu since Friday.

@9:08 PM

Lt. Col. Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara “The true story from Lau”

I want to correct the statement released by the Ministry of Information regarding Bainimarama’s recent visit to Lau.

In the papers on Wednesday they led with a story “Mara Clan seeks Pardon!” That is not true. Firstly there is no Mara Clan. There are the Mara Family and the Vuanirewa Clan. What is true is that no-one in the Mara family has asked the PM for a pardon or an apology. I am proud of the stand that I have taken. I know I have the support and confidence of both the Mara family and the members of the Vuanirewa Clan.

This apology was made without the consent of the senior members of the clan and none were present at the Matanigasau. On Tuesday two junior members of the Vuanirewa clan met with Bainimarama the leader of the illegal regime in Fiji and apologized for my actions. They had no authority to do so. Not one of the senior members of the Vuanirewa clan of Lakeba was present at the Matanigasau.

This had only happened because the regime used a very strong “stick and carrot approach.”

The carrots we have seen and read in the papers every day. Bainimarama has promised the people of Lau boats, schools, jetties; in fact everything they have asked for.

The “stick” by Bainimaraa was a threat that Lau would be cut off from government funds if they did not show their support. To make sure all went to plan, Bainimarama dispatched a Lauan soldier called Malolo to Lakeba 1 week in advance. It was his job to make sure that a ceremony took place. Even using threats, he was only able to force two junior members of the Vuanirewa clan to attend. The rest was made with members of the Vanua.

I find this laughable and shows just how desperate Bainimarama is to show he has the support of the people. But now we know it is all show and no substance. The little he has, exists only because of the promises and bribes he makes using borrowed money.

In contrast the support for democracy is growing every day. The People of Fiji now have hope there will be elections and there is a real alternative to Dictatorship

Thumbs up For Democracy

God Bless

The Racists and failed politicians are now against Aziz and Dr Neil Sharma. They were brutal of Ayiaz in past. We were hearing by these same bloggers that Bainimara regime was going to fall after Uli fled for Tonga. Read the story in fiji sun and Times today. The Lau people have apologized to Bainimara for the shameful behavior of the runaway colonel from Lau. People from Lau have said thatBainimara's visit to Lau was a god send. The Prime Minister of Solomons has said that he is not going to have Uli in Solomons. Well done Bainimara for erasing corruption in the government. The Rabuka and Qarase government were highly corrupt and incompetent.

Is the Fiji Sun OWNED by the EVIL CORRUPT REGIME????? I know that Fiji times is sold to Motibhai, because Bainivuaka doesnt like them publishing anything bad about his EVIL CORRUPT GOVERNMENT...

Because everything in the Fiji Sun newspaper is all about PRAISING this EVIL DICTATOR... Since 2006 till now, after 5 years of corruption, Bainivuaka goes to Lau... WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!! Are you playing TACTICS here Mr Illegal PM??? Trying to score points against Ratu Ului??? Just because the TRUTH about you and your boyfriend Khaiyum have been revealed by Ratu Ului.... trying to win back support from the people of Lau... You're childish... What were you doing in the last 5 years??? then all of a sudden you want to visit Lau???? Yeah right, everyone knows you were MISUSING AND ABUSING the governments money paid by all the taxpayers in fiji...

Every other newspaper around the world have FREEDOM OF SPEECH... and journalists can FREELY criticise its government for their wrongdoings... But not with our Illegal Government, you speak against them, you get taken to QEB and tortoured, beaten up or even killed... FREEDOM OF SPEECH DOESNT EXSIST ANYMORE IN FIJI...

Bainivuaka after 5 years, then you thought about going to Lau... We are not FOOLED by you... Manupilating people doesnt work... BAINIVUAKA YOU'RE JUST A WOLF IN SHEEPS CLOTHING....

@10:16 PM. AMEN.
@9:59 PM.

If you look at the real role of the military in Fiji, you will see that it is the backbone of dictators and an instrument of internal repression.

If we look through history, there is a clear "pattern of failure" associated with a military rule. In totality, this pattern found across all military regimes in past indicates the unsustainability and failure of the military experience. If military dictatorship was to be the best thing that ever happened to Fiji since sliced bread, it would have worked by now.
Instead, it has failed on each one of the three (or four) occasions that it was put into practice in this country. If military dictatorship had been this nation's destiny, the people would have happily embraced it and not repelled against it. For twenty years, Fiji and its political institutions have been suffering from a disease.

The only thing that a period of military rule, like we've seen on several occasions in the past, achieves is that it delays the inevitable. It provides the patient with a drip and a booster shot of some energy that creates an artificial impression that things are getting better but, that too, only for a while. When the signs of this booster shot wear off, however, we're left with a patient that is weaker, sicker, and nearer to its death than it was before the military intervention was administered for not only is the booster shot only an artificial and temporary remedy, it also results in considerable waste of time–years, sometimes a decade–that could have been spent curing the cancer in the first place.

The death will surely come unless we, the people of Fiji, FOLLOW COSTA RICA'S LEAD AND ABOLISH THE ARMY.

Fiji's commitment to peace and stability will begin when it abolishes its army.

Rule of law in Fiji Questioned:

New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Murray McCully says there would be some obstacles to overcome if Fiji tries to get former Fiji military officer Ratu Tevita Mara extradited from New Zealand.

Colonel Mara fled to Tonga last month to escape a sedition charge.

He’s currently visiting Australia on a Tongan passport and six month visa, and plans to visit New Zealand later this month.

Fiji’s Attorney-General has filed extradition papers with the Australian Attorney General and says he plans to seek the extradition of Colonel Mara from every country he visits.

Mr McCully says New Zealand would follow due process in considering any extradition.

“In dealing with extradition requests, countries always have some regard for the prospect of a fair trial in the country to which the person would be sent, and a look at their record for human rights abuses as well, and I think that would raise some questions in relation to Fiji.”
Meanwhile, Ratu Tevita says he’s had legal advice not to worry about attempts to extradite him.

“It’s coming from an illegal regime by an illegal Attorney-General so I don’t think we should be paying much attention to that. I’ve been given my visa and I am within the bounds of my visa.”
Colonel Mara says he’ll check on the visa he’s been promised for a two day visit to New Zealand.

A spokesman for the Australian Attorney-General’s office says it doesn’t comment on extradition requests.

YP and FSC deals exposed:

Fiji sugar industry’s grand fraud and corruption
with one comment
The poor people of Fiji have had a guts full of the so called foreign consultants preying on them and imposing their failed prescription of reforms and mismanagement of Fiji’s public sector organisations.
The country has barely taken a breath of relief after the haemorrhaging onslaught of the first wave of mercenaries John Samy, Francis Narayan, John Prasad etc, only to be invaded now by the new trinity of ex FSC rejects- the incompetent cabal of Rasheed Ali, his life long partner in crime Gautam Ramswarup and their loyal lap dog one Anamale Naicker.
Get on the gravy train and repackage themselves as some high powered consultants and
To add insult to injury they are ripping of the industry to a tune of approximately a million Australian dollars plus major perks and benefits.
Our sources have also uncovered the deep underlay of corruption and conspiracy that surrounds the appointment of these three.
There is strong evidence of the direct involvement of business tycoon and ex Reddy Fletcher director, YP Reddy, in these machinations and appointments. Although YP is a minority shareholder in FSC, he is known to have a great deal of clout at the very highest levels of government and FSC management. Everybody knows that YP is one of the most powerful power brokers in Fiji’s political and business scene and most times whatever he wants he gets. Its the old adage “ Money talks”.
So why would YP broker the appointments of these two no hopers?
Is this some kind of payback for the many multi million dollar lucrative contracts that Reddy Fletcher enjoyed with FSC during the reign of Rasheed Ali and Ramswarup?
But the plot gets even thicker as you read what follows.
FSC has rented two separate units from YP Reddy next to his Lautoka Waterfront Hotel at $2000 per month for Rasheed, Ramswarup and Naicker. It has also been revealed that for an exactly similar unit in the same premises, a non FSC tenant pays only $750 per month. In other words FSC is paying about three times the normal rates and losing an extra $30,000 per year. Why was a comparative rental assessment not done? The best of executive homes can be rented in Simla, Lautoka and many parts of Nadi for less than that.
But as if this was not fraudulent enough, for like their CSR colonial masters they are also provided daily with maid service “Naukar” to do their cooking, cleaning, washing and ironing and all at FSC’s expense.
We can no longer turn a blind eye to this daylight robbery and naked corruption and it must be thoroughly investigated and those involved held to account.
How much of that $36 million FSC loss can be attributed to these corruptions?
Kisan ke Beta
Majoor ke Sewak

As for HON., well I think you should consider your colourful history before using this word.
Claiming these titles without due process and proper mandate is the same as the current lot in Fiji.

The Search for a new Leader in Fiji is all well and good Idea. But under the present situation, I would not suggest that hose names should be made public. This will only see that those people whose names that are nominated will be subjected to a trip to the Camp. I for one feel strongly that there has to be a better way to recruit people of interest. No right minded person will want to be subjected to a trip to the Camp. The minute any names that are mentioned, that person surely will visited. I am fully aware of one person that is now in Fiji who is a very good candide. He carries no extra bagage. To him he has only one agenda. His agenda is is "Fiji".

I have said before and will say again, behind every coup in Fiji is an Indian who benefits, when will simple Fijians realise this? Like those soldiers alleging loyalty to Bainimarama and not the constitution, Ului and Driti included! It is when those who have benefited from the coups stand to lose their privileges that they take an about turn to support democracy on their way down! A coup is illegal, anti-Christian, anti-democracy, and anti everything RIGHT under the sun full stop! We will continue to go round in circles until we finally realise the TRUTH for ourselves! And that our salvation is not in military might, clean up corruption, indigenous rights, etc etc but in putting GOD first and then working hard on your butts as he directs you to do so! Warai na kana buta, rawa taki kei na waca! Sweet honest sweat is needed!!!
