Bainimarama and wife lead Fiji's 'Sinkaporean' netball defeat

FIJIAN LOSERS: Mary, Litiana and Bainimarama.
The cost to Fiji taxpayers of getting dictator Frank Bainimarama and his wife, Mary, son and three daughters to the world cup netball championships in Singapore, will emerge sooner or later.

We already know, though, that the people of Fiji have paid too high a price already with Bainimarama as leader.

FIJI SUN PROPAGANDA
The toll of that leadership now seems to be showing in the sorry losses being experienced by the country's top sporting codes. In 'Sinkapore' as we've decided to dub it, Mary Bainimarama's squad this week dropped from 10th to a record-low 13th.

Samoa (Bainimarama's nemesis Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi's team) is now is Number One in the Pacific.

Fiji's efforts in cricket, not to mention rugby, is also down the gurgler. (And Bainimarama still wants a ringside seat at the world cup in New Zealand in September?)

Obviously, the presence of Mary the Patron and Fiji's 'First' family and their sideline support was not enough to lift the performance of the squad and if fellow bloggers are right, perhaps even put them off.

Ceaucesu and wife paid for their crime against the state.
Bainimarama and family seem to be flouting their privileged status all too openly at the moment, with the illegal leader and watina and gone all oblivious to the open criticism of their good life at the expense of the people.

Thanks to access to illegal funds (on Facebook the Bainimaramas are often noted gabbling freely about having the latest gadgets like ipads and ifones), jobs and opportunties, Baini and family are leading a champagne life while the rest of Fiji, including FNPF members, are having to tighten their belt.

The world knows the fate of dictators, though. It may take time but most are eventually brought to their knees and made to pay for their crimes against the people. Such was the case of the Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaucesu and his wife, Elena, who were shot dead in 1989 by elite military soldiers after the country finally revolted.

Ceaucescu and wife had blithely continued their excesses, despite the people's growing hatred of them. Even as they were being shot, they claimed ignorance.

Manasa Vaniqi has given clear message.. that the unions can cripple the country, and that is the only way we can do it..

source: www.fbcl.com.fj

Entrenched politics within the sugar industry made it seem like the unions were the owners of the Fiji Sugar Corporation says the permanent secretary for Sugar Colonel Manasa Vaniqi.

Vaniqi made the comment after being questioned by FBC News if government has managed to remove politics from the sugar industry – as they have set out to do.

Vaniqi says the task is difficult as politics has been part of the sugar industry for more than 100 years.

According to Vaniqi, past politics saw important sectors going on strike whenever they wanted to influence the FSC.

He says farmers, lorry drivers, and mill workers would go on strike whenever their political masters wanted – crippling the industry.

Vaniqi says government has intervened to put the unions back where they belonged and has started work to try to revive the sugar industry.

News, 4 Sri Lankan Prosecutors have been sacked by AG and given 24 hours to leave Fiji. They are also threatened not to talk to public about anything.

It seems the Sri Lankans are holding their grounds and refusing to take illegal dirty orders. Of course unlike the likes of Ajit Kodagoda (Chairman FNPF and ATH) licking AG's bum. Good on you guys. Keep your name proud and gain some lost respect by Ajit and the likes of him.

Govt drives into vehicle leasing deal

writer : RACHNA LAL

7/7/2011
Government yesterday signed a vehicle leasing agreement with Asco Motors and Bank South Pacific (BSP) which will see the addition of 132 new vehicles into the Government’s fleet.

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, who signed on behalf of Government, said the facility provided by BSP was very favourable to Government as it would not put a debit in the Government accounts while at the same time having access to a particular set of assets.

“Most modern businesses engage in lease financing and this is the way Government is moving, not just to ensure better service, but because if we were to wait to buy all these vehicles, we would have spent about $10 million,” he said.

“What the lease finance does is spread that capital spend over a period of four years.”

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said Government at the same time has better insurance coverage for its vehicles.

“Previously Government used to self-insure. Therefore when vehicles were purchased, if there was an accident, it would sit in the garage or the ministry waiting for funds to fix up perhaps the bumper.

“Under this agreement, Asco Motors will ensure vehicles are serviced on time. Ordinary Fijians will be able to buy these well-maintained vehicles after a period of four years.”

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum has strongly urged other financial institutions to participate and partner with Government in these sorts of financial arrangements.

“As I can see that there is a bit of liquidity in the market and this is an opportune time for other commercial banks, as BSP has done, to participate not just with Government but other state-owned enterprises that perform some significant roles within our society and within our economy and I think it is time they participated in those ventures too.”

Asco Motors chief executive officer Abdul Hafiz said he was glad they were supplying this second lot of vehicles to Government and would do their best to provide the service agreed.

Vore by his attitudes and behaviours in leadership is not a Fijian. He does not have empathy with the common people, no respect, he has no respect for traditional leadership and is arrogant.

On the other hand the Fijian traditional chiefs are missing an opportunity here to resurrect their continuing diminished status by not leading the people to reclaim power from Vore. All we lack is leadership to inspire people to topple Vore physically.

But Vore will, as night follows day, fall from his perch the way all other dictators had fallen.

Vore's time is very near.. Definitely he will not be able to land in Fiji...

@anonymous 1.57 : The main problem with Fijians, in my opinion, if you compare them with Europeans especially, is that they are not "revolutionary" people. Revolutions have always been “imposed” from outside, the first one was by the missionaries in the 19th century. That’s why nothing happens, even when pictures of Bainimarama having fun abroad are published. That man should be “working hard” to bring the country forward right NOW. Historians will remember this feature of his reign in their analysis.

My experience, talking with people in the countryside, is that most lack the knowledge required to understand what is happening in this country. The level of discussion can hardly be more than “small talk” actually. I am saddened, when I try to talk about politics with countryside people, how people are unable to decode what is happening, how they mix up everything, how confuse they are intellectually. Try to talk about trade deficit, foreing exchange, investor confidence, GDP, and so on and you’ve lost them. I am not suggesting that Fijians are idiots, but they are certainly massively ignorant. Without knowledge and vision, there are no revolutions so there we are and there we stay.

Fijians, give up your kava, give up your manipulative religions, give up your lack of discipline, give up your dependence mentality, give up your patriarchal model and you will have a new country.

But for for now, I guess it’s “taki!” and “kerekere”. Let’s watch a good rugby game and moce mada.

Still, the Greek regime might be trying to poach him - but if they're not successful - any chance you guys in Fiji could want a Brash? He comes with a lovely dial-a-bride who could be useful when its time to grovel to the Asian Development Bank.

Or are we weary of executing a citizenship arrest when the Rear Admiral’s friend Thaksin private security details offering support during all his Asia visits.

The Bainimarama family's hands are covered in blood. The dictators killing of the innocent people even beginning from 2000 with the CRW soldiers and those killed after 2006 coup will always haunt and be a curse to Fiji as long as he leads the country. Now, the Fiji Sports Council and the Fiji Netbal Association are headed by his daughter and wife respectively. There is blood everywhere. The Fiji Rugby Union is now run by his military men, even more blood in the hands of the administrators. So for as long as he leads, do not expect our sports ambitions to win anything. We are cursed by the bloody hands of the dictator and his family plus his men who are running these sporting bodies. The blood of those that died from these two coups (2000 & 2006) are crying and God heard them through and through. We are cursed.

Gone are the glory days because people no longer have pride and the victory spirit has being replaced by the cries and suffering of suffering of the people. No one must compare cricket with rugby and netball, both this two sports are funded by government indirectly, rugby $3 million and netball $100K. Unlike cricket it has all the finances to run and send its own age group senior and womens team on tour.

So I don't see the big harp about the PM watching the games in Singapore, and to add to it his family members could afford to travel to Singapore. Jealousy in the air.....

@ Sleepy 3.30 pm. I think you have a point there. So how about if we Fijians suggested, you White Falas should stop 'making enemy of countries sitting on resources you want' and then 'making war to push them out for you to claim that land' and there will be total peace in the world. Do Fijians have to give up their 'taki' and 'kerekere' and witness change. So what change are you advocating. Sudden step up of a degree of enlightenment? A change that will alienate them in their own land? Land which was monopolised by the White missionaries with their 'dab' effect of the GOD OF THE JEWS doctrine, before the colonial 'so called masters' followed through with their 'stab' of democracy?? They succeeded in achieving some autonomy in Fijis in the 1860s - 70s with the eventual deed of cession. Is that what you are suggesting? Fijians were doing 'taki' and 'kerekere' before the whitemen came, before the 'coolies' and Punjabs and other came. They came to modify and monopolise the iTaukei 'taki' system and 'kerekere' system and introduced money. Our currency was not paper money or gold. Our cultural numeracy was simple quantitative sustainable batar of products from our natural fauna and flora flavored with formal speeches and elaborate presentations and rituals. Out kerekere system is based on our communality - we were not selfish people, we shared and lived together as an extended family. We were such a small group of islands with the sea an obstacle to exploring further as opposed to you white felas who enjoyed the freedom of exploration with your so called new policy shoved down the throats of people you so called savages and cannibals to fit your greed and ambitions. Yours were individualism, greed, accumulation of wealth, in-breeding, same sex marriage, make enemies as you please ( in the guise of foreign policies) to those low class inhabitants who were sitting on resources your industrial revolution and anglican ethos would thrive on. So before you suggest shooting down at our value of 'taki' and 'kerekere', look at your so called influence around the globe and figure out how you can undo,( whether its through you carbon tax, emission control schemes, war against terrorist and WMD CONSPIRACIES ETC) the big mess of hunger, war, global warming, fricky weather systems etc etc. Thats probably where your energy should go to rather than picking on the weak like we Fijians who are still so ignorant and without the revolutionary will(as you stated). Go bark at a tree rather than a shrub.

FICAC's legal eagles leave
Shalveen Chand
Friday, July 08, 2011
THREE prosecutors of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) have left the country after the terms of their contracts ended on Monday.

FICAC spokeswoman Erica Lee confirmed that manager legal Madhawa Tennakoon and senior legal officers Sanjeewa Dissanayake and Ragitha Siriwansa returned home after completing their contracts.

Ms Lee said the lawyers joined FICAC in 2009.

She said two other prosecutors, Nawarathne Marasinghe and Vincent Perera, were still in the country.

Ms Lee said the prosecutors came in after the first three and their contracts were still in effect.

As for replacements, Ms Lee said FICAC was dealing with the matter and an announcement would be made at the right time.

Messrs Tennakoon, Dissanayake and Siriwansa are belived to have left the country on Monday.

Mr Tennakoon had been involved in many of FICAC's high profile cases such as the prosecution of former prime minister Laisenia Qarase and former NLTB general manager Kalivati Bakani. He also led the prosecution in the trial against businessman Ratu Sakuisa Tuisolia.

Ms Lee said their departure would not affect FICAC's operations.

His jokes hides his clumsiness and lack of initiatives, and nuttiness.

WHY BEING NEGATIVE ABOUT THE TRADE UNIONS IN THE SUGAR INDUSTRY? THE FACT IS HE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT DEMOCRACY MEANS.

He is one opportunist who should be taken to task and be put in jail.

MAYBE VANIQI SHOULD TELL US WHAT HE KNOWS ABOUT THE LYNCHING AND BEATINGS OF THE WOMEN DEMOCRACY ACTIVISTS? HE SHOULD KNOW SINCE VANIQI IS BAINIMARAMA'S LAP DOG.

Both do not have a recognised tertiary qualifications, both worked up the career ladder but got higher through nepotism and giving superiors a good time, telling funny stories and jokes.

What has Vaniqi got to be responsible for resurrecting the Sugar Industry? What has Bainimarama got to be running a nation?

Their most common denominators are firearms, reckless bullheadedness, dinosaurial mentality, chicken heartedness, dutch courage, rattish sneakiness, cattish slyness, piggish financial / resource gluttonness and human foolishness.

So what can they do? Nothing but ruining the sugar industry and Fiji.

Otherwise the illegal PM's family will think they were instrumental in the success. At the enthusiastic way the Fiji captain was always paying tribute to Vore, he must be very generous with donations of pocket money to the players. When will Fijians learn to look beyond the (and refrain from being so grateful) frivolous gifts and look instead to the intention of the giver who are getting much more than the pittance they are throwing at you.

And to the idiot Anonymous at July 7 9.44 PM - It was good they do not lose to Wales otherwise they would have been bottom of that pool. They were already out of the quarter finals with the loss to Trinidad & Tobago SO it is a victory we can live with.

All are in state of shi.! pardon the language. Netball officials have taken off & not returned to Fiji! Rugby Coach brought in to be national coach, a so called Man of God who found Christ 1 month before he became appointed the National coach. Before that he was boozing away in western Australai-like time was running out-along came the New Methodist & hey Praise the Lord was eminating out his mouth! We had the likes of Gavoka & Keni whose records speak for themselves. Gavoka has turned everything he has touched to you guess what -NOT GOLD!Stuffed up the Tourism in Fiji with his lack of knowledge so they had to bring back the Tuamoto! Soccer-well the lawyer has taken off -just like Roko Ului & Ragen Chaudry. Now tell me when Fiji has ever come close to winning the world cup in any sports! A very big fat zero-even if we had an elected Govt-we will still have no hope as we are just not that competative at the International level. Please refrine from talking about curses etc-its not in you interest to say or talk about thngs you have no idea about! If what you say is true how come USA, Aussie, NZ are up there in the world in International competition yet they should be suffering just like Fiji-(ie if your theory is correct),remember the Aborigines who were slaughtered when the when the white fallows first came. And the Maoris & Red Indians. Now to a period much closer to us what about the innocent women & children killed in Iraq from the so called 'weapons of mass destruction" or the innocent lives killed in Afghanistan?
