Tikoitoga confirms conference cancelled because Methodist leaders refused to bow to Bainimarama directive

A spokesperson for the illegal government has formally revealed why today's Methodist Church conference was scrapped and as suspected it's because the Church's top two officials refused to step down as ordered to.

Fiji Village reported a short time ago that Land Force Commander, Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga (top), has told it the conference was cancelled because the Church President, Reverend Ame Tugaue and General Secretary, Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu did not want to vacate their positions.

Tikoitoga says he met with Tugaue and Waqairatu at Queen Elizabeth Barracks late yesterday and the Ministers were given the option to either step down or be suspended by the church until the final ruling of a case the regime have against them is heard.

The regime say Tugaue and Waqairatu are facing charges of breaching the Public Emergency Regulation  and "are allegedly involved in politics".

Fiji Village says Neumi Leweni (right) confirmed yesterday the conference was being cancelled because the two church ministers would chair the meeting as originally planned and would not follow the regime directive.

The Church earlier told Coupfourpointfive it would not bow down to Bainimarama nor would it allow him to dictate to it. It said it had a duty to be faithful to its members and Constitution and would resist efforts by Bainimarama to intimidate it.

The dictator has been trying to pressure top officials via the church secretary to do what he wants them to in recent weeks, and in recent days has increased the pressure on the Church to follow his bidding.

Fiji Vilage is also reporting that police officers met with the executives of the Methodist Church at Epworth House in Suva earlier this morning and is quoting church secretary Tevita Nawadra as saying they are waiting for a statement from Bainimarama.

Some members have turned up at Centenary Church today and a service is underway. Nawadra says they did not know the conference had been cancelled.

See also the later Fiji Live story below where Tikoitoga refers to Tugaue and Waqaraitu: "Those two were accused by a government law which specified that they have breached the Public Emergency Regulation (PER),” he said. “They refused to accept that explanation. They (the church) maintained that a person is innocent until proven guilty."

The Church Leaders must be congratulated for defending their faith and standing their ground. Baini himself had being noted for saying that there are 201 ways of killing a cat. There must be 201 ways of achieving the conference objectives. The early Christians had done that successfully through adverse and far worse times under Nero for about 2000 years down the line Christianity and the faith on God has being sustained. The Conference is not the only way to solve church problems

What are you trying to prove Vore and Aiyaz???? Arent you tired of making a fool of yourselves????

If the Methodist Church wishes not to bow down on your terms and conditions, then so be it!!!!! The decisions were made in accordance to the Church "Constitution". If they wish to go against the Constitution, then they are liable to answer before their members(and none of the military regime will do that).......In simple terms "they will be breaking the law that governs the Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma".

Now, the question we then should ask are;

What is this regime so afraid about that it needs the top leaders of the Church to be left out of the meeting?

Are they afraid of a possible coup???

We'll just wait and see!!!

God Bless Fiji!!!

Again we say, come judgment day, Fiji’s Military Commanders, Religious leaders, like the of us will stand before our maker.

But it may be more the judgment of the Church leaders, for they should have known better..!!

Spiritual confusion in the heavenlies of Fiji is now rife.

As we said earlier, some churches pray longevity to what they profess as “God ordained Bainimarama/Aiyaz Government”. Conference of other denomination in recent weeks may have given full support to the Rear Admiral.

Yet, some churches pray” destruction to what they believe as “ an evil regime from the pits of hell”..praying God remove the Co PMs, so “the righteous rule and people rejoice”

And the confusion further compounded by other religious rites and variant across Fiji’s religious and spiritualist spectrum.

Sadly, dividing families, dividing villages, diving …uh….the nation.

We are not advocating violence at all, but could we at least agree on something…for the place of agreement is the place of power!!

Come on the Church and Government had agreed to the meeting agenda, thus the three day permit. For the record Rev Ame Tugaue had agreed to step down, the other two used the Church Constitution as the basis for staying on. Question;
Can anyone answer who use this blog-site answer, since when did Church Ministers use Constitution, I always thought it was divine calling. This is where the problem is: Calling for adminstering the flock and not to run it like a business......and besides all these were foretold if you believe;"on this day the 23rd Day of August in the year of Christ" the methodist church of Fiji will not be able to hold its annual conference". So why the fuss....if you believe.

We must get rid of these oppressors now before it is too late. They are interfering with our church, intimidating and humiliating our padres. How long can Fiji allow this kind of oppression to continue? The army must rise and take action now:
*it must remove Baini as prime minister and as commander of the army.
* It must appoint a retired army officer who is honest and god fearing as the new commander
* it must get rid of Khaiyum, Naivalurua, Teleni,Neumi Leweni and all others who have aided and abetted the dictator
*It must put an end to all corruption that has increased since the regime took office
* it must get rid of all those hangers on who have benefitted from corrupt practices - Nur Bano, Nazhat Shameem, CJ Patel, Ajith Kodagoda etc - the network of collaborators who are trying to take hold of our country.

Arise you soldiers! Wake up to the destruction of our country in the hands of these thugs and thieves. The Methodist church and its leaders are being targeted today. the hindus were targetted last week over their reliegious prayers; ask yourself why the Moslems are not being targetted at all. Are the taliban at work within Fiji? The army is the only ones who can save our people and our country, protect our Church and give us our freedom once again.

The army must act now and rescue our country from doom!

People Power

The alliance of the methodist church/fiji unions/all workers/NGOS/all present and future FNPF pensioners/All labor and SDL supporters which is 800000 people must march and do citizen arrest of the pisspot president, tin pot dictator/puppet master and junta- these are a gang of thugs who are holding fiji hostage.

Remove the PER then see the people revolution- the dictator will he sprinting in the cassva patch-final run.

The people have the power to arrest this junta a gang of dozen thugs and put on trial for their crimes.

The fiji gadaffi must stand trial.

Fiji people need people power and the QEB goons can wipe their bottoms with people charter.

A day of justice is coming soon, meanwhile the junta thugs can enoy their oppression.

The cancel of methodist permit shows the cowards are lamu lamu of citizen arrest.

@Anon 3.02pm..ALL of us..indeed, including murderers..will one day answer to his/her deeds..good or bad...
But before each one’s demise …Naboro may beckon to some of us!...the innocent looses no sleep..the guilty , though breathes, dies within…slowly..
..and all we wanna know is whether all Fiji’s Christian leaders have ever had a cuppa together?? Seriously!!..or have Fiji Christian leaders ever had a bowl with leaders of other Religious groups??..well, just that heaven is far far away and a Mosque, Mandir, synagogue or Pub is just down the road..
What’s the matter with us??!!

..oh..and I do not wanna be a Post Master or anything else...just that PMs survive on OPM...other peoples money..thank you

What I cannot understand is all the fuss. Seriously; the simple thing to do for all our sakes was to step down until you are cleared there are others in the Church who can hold the fort....it seems that no one cares about us the ordinary people who are members of the Methodist Church. Or have we forgotten how all those our forefathers who suffered by spreading the word of God thruough humble beginnings walking for miles to spread the gospel. No we are arguing over who should run the office with the Government of the Day. We should be more worried about how we can keep those in the fold. THIS IS POLITICS WHEN WE CHANGED OUR STANCE AND STARTED TALKING CONSTITUTION. JUST OPENED UP A WHOLE CANNED OF WORMS ALTOGETHER.
THANK YOU GOVERNMENT FOR BRINGING ACCOUNTABILITY TO THE FORE...AND KEEP AT IT. VERY SOON THE BAD WEEDS WILL BE WEEDED OUT TOO.

What is obvious from this confrontation is that, we may not have an election by 2014. The amount of white washing the Military regime and illegal government spokesperson have being doing, one can almost feel that they have commenced their campaign towards the 2014 election but instead of trying to build alliance with the church the government has just drawn the dagger and does not make any sense at all. What are they so dumb to analyze that makes them frighten of their shadows and their point five intels. The dictatorial nature of their tactics on the FNPF Reforms majority Methodist church and Union movement that perhaps make up more the 70-80% of Fiji population should be clear indication of the non-popularity of this illegal government. That plus high inflation, deteriorating health services and other social amenities should be enough justification for election to be called off come 2014.

There is no Law without the supreme Law which is the constitution. The PER is something that your stupid commander asked his illegal AG to design so that it covers his big ass like yours...
You know what Tikoitoga, you will go to jail with Bainimarama for supporting his cause.
You and your assitance bandboy spokesman are just so stupid like your Kailoma stupid commander.
Ypu said that you are for the people. Why did you come up with all this excuses to cancell the meeting in the last hr. You never take into considerations the preparations and all the money that people have used to travel from afar to come to Suva.
All you care about is that you have to hold on to your power and save you big asses.
What a shame.
The viti Revolution Movement will really show you how the people have felt and they have suffered for too long.
You will find out soon Tikoitoga...Sa rauta ni o sega ni kai Muani dina ga..Iko na kai Loma....

Who can the junta shoot and how many can they shoot?

The people are 800000 and QEB goons dont have 800000 bullets?

The people must use people power to depose the dictator and the junta now.

Who elected this junta?

Who elected the dictator?

Not even one person out of the 800000 people.

Its a war and fight of evil against god.

The military should understand the church run by a constitution, not by a decree. Now, the constitution of the church(any c---h) is being discern by GODS people for the people of God.This military people should understand this.Let me compare this two.(GOD'S people being discern by the HOLY SPIRIT to prepare a constitution for the church of GOD)They have been discern by the spirit of hatred, coward, corruption, lie, etc. should they continue running?. We don't think they should continue. TIME TO STOP.

Mate, we the Civilian members of the Methodist Church have faith in our current Leadership. You stay with Bainimarama and stop poking your dirty nose into something you do not believe in. Everything in Fiji is currently run and ruined by bainimarama except the Church which is led by Christ as the Head and not Bainimarama. Bainimarama is a human being like you and me, he will never become Christ/God.

Secondly, simple people like me, we are suffering because of bad/poor/rotten Governance of Bainimarama & Ayarse. At least our Methodist Church is consoling and praying for us. We the simple people love our Methodist Church as well as our Leaders.
