Tikoitoga: next target Methodist Church

Clear intentions spelt out today by the regime of what it next wants to move on - the Methodist Church - or game playing by the regime to stir people?

Land force commander Mosese Tikoitoga has told FBC that politics will be taken out of the Methodist Church to ensure the church plays its actual role.

The military spokesperson says there are a number of institutions which are political in nature and the Methodist Church of Fiji is one of them.

According to FBC, Tikoitoga says with the abolishment of the Great Council of Chiefs, "they will now turn their focus on the Methodist church."

“The Fiji Military Forces has depoliticised a lot of institutions, it’s trying to depoliticise the Great Council of Chiefs and that led to the dismissal of GCC and now it’s now trying to depoliticise the Methodist Church of Fiji.”

Tikoitoga says the Methodist Church has been politically affiliated with previous governments which is not their role.

Frank Bainimarama last week abolished the Great Council of Chiefs saying it was a colonial trapping that was no longer relevant in Fiji. He claimed the chiefs had become privileged and were no longer serving the interests of the people.

In a statement yesterday, the Fiji Freedom and Democracy Movement of Australia warned that further moves by the regime to 'decimate Fijian institutions' would lead to a backlash.

It called on the regime to reinstate the GCC and to allow key stakeholders to decide who should be appointed to the Constitutional Commission.

Fr Barr and Bishop Mataca got involved in "politics". So I suggest Tikoitoga start with the Catholic Church.
After that dismantle the Muslims
After that the Hindus.
Good work Bai
We can then become Heathens, like the Chinese.

What's up with Moceke Cekeitoga? Its the useless army that should be dismantled because they're nothing but a bunch of arseholes parading around thinking they're tough. Well they're a bunch of cowards, take away the guns and they're bloody useless.

Forget Viti or anything else - these people are intent on creating
"civil unrest" in order to stay in power - avoid prosecution.

Their playing for keeps - so please
don't be surprised if during such a civil disturbance these people start shooting us.

Even Bainimarama visited his brother in law in prison on a Sunday accompanied by Naivalurua. Is that politicised?

In fact I heard Tikoitoga speaking on radio and he sounded like a very stupid man that never went to school and is so very sucking up to Bai because once Bai kicks him out like Roko Ului and Driti..he will be very much regret what he is saying..Hoho..they think we fiji citizens are as stupid as him..being the mouthpiece for his commander..what a laugh..without them..no bread..no butter..Oh what a very sorry life..

Start a revolution and rid Fiji once and for all of these cockroaches. I wonder how they can sleep with all the evil things they have done to the Fiji people. They have no soul as they have sold it to the devil.

I hope you will be trampled on like cockroaches that your are Vuaka and your vermins.

There should be no active politics in any church, be it Christains,Hindus or Muslims.Methodists including the Fijians are generally very decent crowd.
Church in Fiji made some mistakes during 1987 and 2000 coup.It should have played bigger role in areas of social justice and protecting poor and weak.

Can tiko man answer the question what is politics and what does he mean by depolicise?

First he needs to depolicise FMF by a mother of all coups to arrest dictator, junta and himself and put in naboro forever.

FMF must be depolicised to 100 men in meke ceremonial dance customes for ceremonial purpose.

We dont need a consitution but a referendum of people on future role of FMF and gail of all coup stars.;

So what you gonna do, closed all the Methodish Churches in Fiji? Bar people from attending a Methodish Church by putting padlocks on all its doors? Closed down Davuilevu Methodish School and all other Methodish school in the country? Abolished the Methodish church meetings?Disallowed Methodish teaching in any school throughout Fiji? Seems to me that the Military are making the same mistakes that every dictators have used before they
fall? This could be the spark needed to light up the FIRE!!!However,I have a bad feeling that a
lots of innocent people are going to get hurt this time around???

The military says the Methodists should stay out of politics. The military says the GCC should stay out of politics. The military says the politicians should stay out of politics.

Maybe it's time we all trained for the military! Are any real bati still left in Fiji?

These clowns have no sense of irony and no sense of shame. In fact, they simply have no sense!

Tikoitoga, don't be surprised when you find yourself bunking with Driti. Or, like Roko Ului, you could try making the swim to Tonga or Chief Warwar's new fiefdom in Vanuatu.

Unless you're the King's cousin, don't be surprised if I'm the only one who'll pick you up.

A lonely Driti or a hungry fish? What's a traitor to do?

I hope you choose the swim -- that would really make my day. My soup de jour, actually.

You and your Mataivalu ni Solisona have lost the respect of the people of Fiji as right now the only thing that you know is - How much more do you want us to bend over Khaiyum while he rams all your arses everyday.

Get rid of the Mataivalu ni Solisona and bring back democracy and freedom to the people of Fiji

Come on Tikoitoga! The military should first demonstrate what it wants other institutions to do, by returning to the barracks. It is the only institution that has seriously abused its role since 1987. When other officers of various institutions are alleged for the same, they are dragged to court, but not military officers.
Go back to the barracks, to do whatever is to be done there, rebuild the Fiji Military reputation which has been reduced to nothing over the years, after intimidating and threatening the people, as opposed to providing them with security and safety.

The reason why this TIKO falla is making himself a big coup star???

The answer is he is chairman of HA and his hand in the corrpution deal-one billion dollar waila city development project to malaysia company.

The thug is minting corrupt monies with dictator so he show support.

This thug must stand trial for waila city billion dollar scam.

Well its all been said really. "The Pot is calling the Kettle Black".

That's right, get your opposition out of the way. How about depoliticing the army. Remember that the people of Fiji never put you in power. It was the gun that gave you the power. Don't remember and march or protest in public by anyone asking army to help. The coup was AG and FB's idea.

Wake up Fiji! Democracy is what we want and it should be here now and it should have been here since 1970!

Why can't all citizens of this country see that BAI's regime is illegal. Are some blind to this or are seeing wrongs as right for the sake of their survival?

Methodist church has done a lot in fiji than the army. I hope the idiot Tikoitoga know that. Without the Methodist Church you wont be where you are now. Go back to school and learn what is politic.Army has been politically affiliated and they serve themself. If the Army need bloodshed than u have one. We are ready to face U.

The current illegal regime claims that military leadership is best for government. Is this a self righteous claim. The BOI report into the events of 2000 has clearly revealed how military leadership stinks, and how best it for government?

My advise to the LC is to first seek audience with the Methodist church elders and address them of yr concerns of the church getting involve in politics...remember almost 80% of the Fiji Military Force are Methodist,

It will be an insult to them and to us as church members of yr proposed UN-founding attack on the church...it is true that the church had involved in politics but tell us, which country in the world that does not involve its church organizations in nation building?

...don't just follow the order and the tyrant path of VB but try and have some decency in dealing with the people of Fiji at this challenging time...most of them had been hurting silently for the past 10 yrs

....the MC plays an important role in Fiji for the past 177 yrs and you and VB knows this very well...to day and for the past 100 yrs the MC has been looking after the orphan institute of Dilkusha Home, Ba Hospital, vocational schools, bible schools and a number of primary and secondary schools around the country with no limitations to any particular ethnic group or groups....that's the role the church

...it is regarded as the mother of all Christian churches in Fiji, it was mainly through MC that other Christian denominations were born with the exceptional of the Catholic and the SDA churches

....lets try and solve our problem amicably and peacefully as true Christians that embrace the spirit of LOVE,CARE, HUMILITY, RESPECT, TOLERANCE AND INNER PEACE

..GOD PLEASE TOUCH THE LC and VB's hearts to listen to the cries of the majority of the people of this nation...GOD BLESS FIJI...

I read in Fiji Times today that Police can now throw you in jail for 12months if you are caught "gossiping".

I laughed so hard I was in tears.
That is so funny!

May be this is the new Religion.
No more Churches or Muslims or Hindus but only the Army telling us "Thou shall not gossip"
Thou shall not do this , not do that.
Thou shall worship the Vuaka only. etc etc.

Gosh! There is no leadership here. Why do they have to micromanage.
Vakaraitaka tu ya na levu ni ulukau.

MT dont get blinded by your ignorance of the meaning of politics to try and de-politicised the MC because you are dealing with God because he brought in the Methodist Missionaries here during the dark days and they are still doing their Job now.

Just look at the corruption happening under your nose. Casino with 100 sands a company run by Aliz Pacific who looks after the pay of ministers. Family business with Aiyarse, Ministry of Finance was doing that transparently but now, nobody knows what their salary is...Is this not corruption? C'mon you soldiers & military council....wake up before Fiji ends up with the dogs. It is not too late......to change now

It is futile to try and explain to an idiot what democracy is all about.
Tikoitoga is merely clutching at straws. He can see that the writing is on the wall so he's trying to convince other short-sighted people that everything's been corrupted by politics, without admitting that politics also exists in the army ranks and in the Catholic Church and Muslim League hierachies.
Tikoitoga's now trumpeting the notion that there will be no further coups after this "clean up". Maybe not by him and Bainimarama but there is no GUARANTEE that there will be no further coups ... not while you have a heavily armed military and idiots like Tikoitoga in it.
As the army's village idiot, he doesn't realise that Pita Driti was mouthing the same thing he's now mouthing JUST BEFORE Driti felt Frank's boot.
And when Tikoitoga does get the boot, he should not be idiotic enough to begin to champion democracy like RUM is now doing. As they say, you can fool some of the people some of the time but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.
Tikoitoga, together with people like Graham Davis will just be "unknowns" in the years ahead and won't even make the history pages. They'll just be "grubsheets". Davis tried unsuccessfully to change Australian government policy. Then he engineered media reports to suggest Carr was indeed considering "re-engagement" and he was quick to claim "credit" for this. When it backfired he tried to cover his tracks and blame the unions. Now he's trying to claim credit for the fact that people are now being allowed to speak their minds a bit more freely. Just as there are idiots, and there are idiots - Tikoitoga falls into one category and Davis into the other. Because Frank is laughing his head off at how they're both dancing so merrily to his out-of-tune fiddle.

Fiji Democrat, the nasty little secret is that the Fijian government actually loses money on peacekeeping -- something like FJD 2 million a year, according to a reliable foreign military source, who told me this two years ago.

I guess the government feels it's worth it for the prestige and to keep its restive personnel busy and happy.

It would be interesting to know the actual amount and the real thinking in the RFMF.

Politics is about getting a better deal for ones people. It involves fighting for justice, for fairness, for the betterment of one's community. To be political is to be human. Just as it is human to be religious.
