Chief's letter: immunity has no place in Fiji

The final letter that was presented yesterday to the regime by the Rewa delegation. It is addressed to the illegal prime minister's office because that is where the delegation was referred to before it was put back to the illegal solicitor-general's office, at which time it was too late to change the address.

Despite being mucked about yesterday, the delegation upstaged the regime's own so-called consultation and proved the Chiefs still carry clout and can stand up to the military dictatorship.

Sometimes it's not about choosing sides, it's about right or wrong. I agree about MC and money etc BUT Franks issue is not only about money but the future of this country. Here is someone who is desperate to keep himself out of jail for Life by using us as his scapegoat. He is using Fiji as his bitch and it's gonna hurt when our children bear the costs of Franks embezzlement.

In fact the whole population of Fiji, if they looked deep inside, will all agree that you are right.

TREASON is indeed the worst crime any person can commit against his own country. Therefore it always demands the worst of all punishments.

LET THE PUNISHMENT FIT THE CRIME!

    TREASONISTS MUST HANG!

Bainimarama knows that he commited a crime and that is why he is asking for Immunity.

I say "IF YOU ARE MAN ENOUGH TO COMMIT TREASON, THEN YOU MUST BE MAN ENOUGH TO FACE THE PUNISHMENT THAT COMES WITH IT"

  26. editor,
In her propaganda piece 'Plenty of discussion on the draft'the regime mouthpiece newspaper the Fiji Sun's West Editor Jyoti Pratibha bends over backwards to give "Full credit to the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimara and the Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum " for it. You get the impression that Ms Pratibha wants the whole of Fiji to be grateful to "the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and the Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum" for so generously allowing this robust and plentiful discussion on the constitution to take place.
I wonder whether it has occurred to Ms Pratibha that it is the people's right to discuss the constitution because the country's constitution belongs to them not to the Commodore or the illegal attorney-general or any of their cronies!

  27. If someone makes fun of Muslims and prophet mohammed, the Muslims wanted to kill those responsible. The Muslims who made fun of Jesus should be killed, don't you agree?

  28. No, I don't! That is NOT Jesus Teaching.

  29. This might just be the right time for reflection and looking forward.
We all know that any day now, the Regime will be removed and many many people will be arrested and incarcerated for their alleged crimes. They then need to be brought before the Courts and where they are found guilty, sentenced and imprisoned.
    It's not rocket science.
The question is, now, what kind of Fiji do you want?
Let's not be so easily led and tempted to go down the path of blame and retribution, for in reality, there were many many people within Fiji who quietly supported this coup in the beginning, did nothing to oppose it and were happy to benefit from it when money was thrown to them their Village, their Province or through family in the Military!
It becomes now, a case of, "he who is without sin, cast the 1st. stone"!
In other words, each has played his or her role and must be held accountable and those who can, must hold themselves accountable and admit to themselves at least, if not to their loved ones, that they made a mistake in supporting or in not opposing the coup.

"Trust", that it is within Fijians hearts, to not retaliate, to not turn on their neighbours and to not play the "blame game" once normality returns.
What must come from this latest coup, is an understanding of just what "Democracy" really stands for and means. What it means to each and every individual in Fiji.
All equal in the eyes of the Law!
The GCC and its Officers, must ensure that no violence against fellow citizens will be tolerated and that the Rule of Law under the 1997 Constitution, will be adhered to.
So those already planning to assault, attack, loot from and maim, remember that you also will be held accountable and that unless you want to end up in the same prison cell as Frank and Co. you should think seriously about the consequences of your intended actions.
For those who learn of and know of people intending harm and theft and destruction against any section of the community, it will now be your duty, within a Democracy, to report and where possible, stop this behaviour.

What Fijians choose to do with their new found Freedom, will determine the future you have chosen for yourselves, your children , grandchildren and loved ones.

I just think that this is a good time to think about and discuss these matters before they get out of hand.
Basically, for those contemplating hurting other, making trouble and causing destruction, be aware that you also will be being watched by the Police and Authorities once Democracy is restored.
We must remind ourselves and each other, to not judge and to live within the Law. This will define us from those who have chosen to ignore and break it.

    Dear Vimal:

You are no doubt aware that the program aired on FBCTV on Easter Friday at 2pm in which the Muslim Cleric openly criticised the Christian Faith and Jesus Christ our lord and saviour.

I am writing to condemn this act of disgrace of FBCTV and its CEO Riaz Khaiyum in particular. It appears that there is a wider conspiracy by Khaiyum brothers to destroy the christian faith in Fiji and promote radical Islamic agenda on its people.

The programme has deeply insulted us Christians and will not go unchallenged. I am seeking from you the details of the company that sponsored this and the identity of the Muslim Cleric.

Indeed, the CEO Khaiyum must be removed from his position as clearly demonstrated by his lack of management and leadership.

I shall await your response in due course with some urgency.

    Sincerely,

    Rajesh Singh

  38. editor,
We read in the Fiji Times (6/4) that "[The illegal] Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the draft constitution had a lot of mechamisms to prevent coups in Fiji" ('Draft aims to end coup culture')
That of course is a lot of hogwash.
Did the 1997 Constitution have any mechanism to prevent a coup in Fiji?
Of course it did. It made it abundantly clear that was not to be the mechanism for a change in government!
But what happened to the assurance under the 1997 Constitution?
It just took a handful of armed rogue military men to trash it.
Why can't that happen again in the future? Just because the illegal Attorney-General, a key member of the present coup regime, says so? That's a joke that's not funny.
How many armed thugs are needed to overthrow a government in Fiji?
The current lot of coup makers - including the illegal Attorney-General - should be able to tell us that!
WE will not be able to end the coup culture in Fiji through the constitution put forward by the coup makers of 2006. The only way to end the coup culture is to NOT recognize the coup makers and their "government" as the lawful government of the country. The coup makers should be put on trial. The 2000 coup front man George Speight was put on trial. No reason why the present coup maker should not face justice. That is the only way to send a clear message that a coup is not on. To borrow an expression from the first coup maker the third ranking military commander Sitiveni Rabuka there is NO OTHER WAY !
Any other suggestion about ending the coup culture in Fiji is spurious. The illegal Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum's suggestion is a spurious one.
Thinking people would have no difficulty in recognising it for what it is - an attempt to hoodwink the people of Fiji.
    sincerely,

United political group hits out at Govt

    06:10 Mon Jan 21, 2013

    Taken from/By: Google
    Report by: Elenoa Turagaiviu

The United Front for a Democratic Fiji claims the Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is dodging issues they’ve raised about accountability and transparency.

The UFDF wants the AG and Prime Minister to disclose all incomes and assets, including properties the two have acquired since seizing power in 2006.

They’ve questioned why the audited account of the PM’s Flood Relief Fund wasn’t published and details of audits of the army’s Regimental Funds.

The UFDF also claims irregularities in the handling of salaries of cabinet ministers including the prime minister and attorney general.

The UFD which consists of the Fiji Labour Party, National Federation Party, United General Party and Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua claims their salaries aren’t handled by the treasury as is the normal practice.

In response, the government refuted the claims saying the salaries of all cabinet ministers including the PM and AG are paid and processed by the Ministry of Finance and not by any private entity.

The statement says further laws are also being developed to ensure even greater standards of accountability and transparency for all.

It adds the government doesn’t and won’t engage in political bickering.
