  1. I am actually surprised to read in the regime mouthpiece newsletter the Fiji Sun (16/5) that "questions are asked how a certain businesswoman in Suva was given major renovation contracts even though she does not own a construction company".
This kind of negative, regime image damaging publicity is not suppose to be coming out of this regime propaganda paper. But I suppose some shit is hard to hide even for a shitty paper like the Fiji Sun!

  5. editor,
we read in the shitty regime propaganda paper the Fiji Sun (16/5) that Fiji's illegal Minister for foreign affairs and international cooperation Ratu inoke Kubuabola ( a key man in the first fiji military coup of 1987)has gone to attend an anti-crisis conference in Kazakhstan.
He has gone to the right place to learn the ropes on how to hang on to power. we learn from Wikipedia Kazakhstan's communist era leader Nursultan Nazarbayev became that country's first President after the former Soviet republic became independent in 1991. He has retained his position for more than two decades. Nazarbayev maintains strict control over the country's politics. (Not hard to guess what that means!). Kazakhstan was reported on the Economist's Democracy Index for 2010 as an authoritarian regime.(Now that should make clear what strict control over the country's politics means).
You can bet on it that our illegal Minister will pick up a tip or two to bring back home from his anti-crisis conference in Kazakhstan.

  6. Hello?..Mrs Obama knows! Come on!...the first lady's support staff are not dumb!

As if she and Mr Obama cares about Fiji affairs any longer!!

Fiji US Embassy is probably used as a Siberian type exile hole for naughty US diplomats…uh… according to friends within.

Apart from their lust for Fiji Water, nothing else about Fiji matters to Mr & Mrs Obama. Not only are their hands full in other more volatile spots around the globe, but domestic problem…phew!!...84 Million homeless…Million begging on the streets. Of course, few billions for goose chase to Mars and other planet and some mystical habitant some where in the milky way.

Do you really think US gives a damn about Fiji??...really??...in the last 7 years??...really???

  9. Chaudhry the chorMay 16, 2013 at 3:26 PM

Latest on Chaudhry, the 'chor' (thief):

Yesterday (15 may) Court dismissed Mahen's application for a stay of proceedings on three charges of breaching the Exchange Control Act.

After 2000 coup robin hood mahen travelled to India where funds were raised by various groups in India to the royal chaudhry's resettle in Australia.

Funds were deposited directly into Chaudhry's personal account in Australia by the Indian Consulate in Sydney.

In his application for a stay of proceedings, mahen, champion of the poor, submitted the funds were banked directly from Indian into his Australian account, and were not the subject of the Exchange Control Act.

mahen is not only a thief but also a liar - once he had claimed he did not receive a cent from India. Hopefully this liar and crook will be behind bars sooner rather later.

Neither were we too sleepy to notice how you slandered President and Mrs. Obama, the officers and staff of the U.S. Embassy, and the people of Fiji, before putting on your usual sanctimonious routine.

  23. editor,
Taking time out from holidaying in Fiji Robin Ottowa an Australian has wondered in a letter to editor in the regime mouthpiece newspaper the Fiji Sun (17/5) "how [Bob]Carr became Foreign Minister".
I wonder if Ottowa has had an opportunity to wonder how Frank Bainimarama became "Prime Minister of Fiji"?
I think that is a more pertinent issue for the people of Fiji where Ottowa is currently holidaying -no doubt blissfully oblivious of the dictatorial regime under which the people of Fiji have now been living for over 6 years.
Bob Carr might be a misfit (as foreign minister) but he certainly is no rogue leader. He is not a thug ruler threatening his own people,is he?

    to me
    editor,
I agree with Francis Verma of USA that for the people of Fiji "the choice is very clear" (Fiji Times 16/5) .
But my idea of the choice is very different from Verma's and I would contend a whole lot clearer.
There are those politicians who come to power through established democratic means and there are those that grab power through the barrel of the gun.
So yes Verma is right "you don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand" which kind of political leadership is more likely to lend itself to democratic accountability and transparency, public scrutiny and to abide by the norms of democratic good governance.
Not the gang who come to power via the gun.

Please, let’s direct our collective energy and efforts on to what we may be able to change and have the liberty and power to possibly control…that is the individual autonomy to choose in the upcoming elections who the next PM should be!!
We have a decision and choice make ; to follow the wise leaders of political parties already registered to campaign, stand and contest the national elections , in spite of the uncertainty of the game rules!...or…conversely, keep crowded together in this slimy slippery gutter of cyberville and inadvertently smelling each other phat

Pls talk about aust and its politics. You left fiji for the so called greener pastures so why don't to concentrate on what's happening in aust. You have no heart for fiji as people like u are interested in material things and taking limelight.

What's you problem if some people are happy with things in fiji. Its their freedom to speak. You shoot each one of them. It seems you can't tatti when you see such comments

  32. editor,
In his letter 'Press Freedom' in the Fiji military regime mouthpiece newspaper the Fiji Sun , Amenatave Malani wonders"how free are alongside western countries".
Reputable international media freedom watchdog institutions that keep a track on press freedom around the world reckon press freedom in Fiji is in a shitty state under the current regime.
I am sure as an intelligent thinking person Amenatave does not need any elaboration on this assessment of press freedom in Fiji.
But I will still offer the following. Press freedom in Fiji has been buggered by the censorship imposed by the dictatorship on the one hand and by the self-imposed censorship by media outlets on the other.
Some like the Fiji Sun newspaper have abandoned all pretence of press freedom and independent reporting by now acting as a regime propaganda paper.
The democratic space for regime critics have been almost been obliterated from the media in Fiji. And, as if that isn't bad enough even a higher institution of learning and democratic freedoms like the USP has begun to conduct itself as a regime puppet.
Press freedom is in a disgraceful state in contemporary Fiji.
People who should be championing press freedom have sided with the dictatorial regime.
    what a crying shame!
    sincerely,
    rajend naidu

  33. Semi Meo, you don't speak for 99.99 percent of Fijians. And making such a claim shows that you're cut from the same cloth as Bainimarama.

Another thing you share in common with Bainimarama is that many if not most of us on this blog regard you as a blooming idiot. Given your unfounded reliance on the 2014 elections, what else are we to think?

Nameless Cyber Bully certainly had you pegged. For two years you've been telling us just to wait for the elections, always promoting yourself shamelessly and hinting that you might stand against Bainimarama -- probably the only person you could beat. NCB repeatedly tried to hold you accountable for your statements. But you were too cowardly and dishonest to hold yourself to your own statements. Now even you finally admit that the elections won't be free and fair. Well, well, well.

Yes, we'll support whoever runs against Bainimarama, but what difference will that make? The winner won't be decided by the number of votes cast but by the number of votes counted. Aiyaz is in charge of the elections, so why should we put any faith in them?

One more thing -- you slander people with one breath but with the next put on holier-than-thou airs. You berate posters for being guttersnipes and ask them how they can call themselves Christians, but here you are again calling anyone who challenges you some very despicable things. Remove the log from your own eye, hypocrite.
