So-called leader goes after small fries instead of tackling the big one

Letter published by South China Morning Post

Why brave shark infested waters when it's easier to go after those who apparently never did anything for Fiji before he came along and saved the country in2006?

The national airline, Air Pacific, is facing yet another controversy but Frank Bainimarama, who is in France to collect the second A320 airbus that was bought with pensioners funds, is staying well away from the debate.
While the leader of most countries would front to answer the damaging allegations, this self-appointed prime minister is sticking to his well-worn repertoire of repeated dismissals of people who dare to challenge the regime's legitimacy and effectiveness.

That's in spite of a revealing South China Morning Post story that this week
In France to collect second A320
exposed Air Pacific as one of the world’s major carriers of shark fins into Hong Kong.

The SCMP article shows that Air Pacific (soon to be Fiji Airways) and its new Airbus A330 aircraft were, according to a group of pilots familiar with its operations "basically a thinly-disguised freighter", carrying shark fins to the territory from Pacific islands.

Hong Kong is the world centre for shark fin trading with the fins used to make an expensive soup.

The South China Morning Post story quotes a coalition of environmental groups who say in a letter to the airline that a “substantial amount” of the shark fins imported into Hong Kong arrive on Air Pacific.

"Hong Kong government data indicates that more than 1,162 tonnes of shark fins were imported into Hong Kong in 2012, of which 14.1 per cent was by air cargo," it said. "Of that percentage a substantial amount would have been flown to Hong Kong on Air Pacific's planes.

"As you may already know, Cathay Pacific took a great step in the right direction last September by making a public commitment to stop carrying shark fins and related products on its subsidiary airline, Cathay Pacific Cargo.

"As a code share partner, this places Air Pacific in a difficult position regarding the continued revenue stream enjoyed by your airline from the transportation of shark fin."

Air Pacific's PR man, Shane Hussein, has told media the airline is investigating but has been quick to suggest the claim is over the top.

Hussein will have to be on his game because there's already talk the second plane will likely carry similar cargo to the first A320 to make money for the newly-branded company.

Air Pacific's involvement in trafficking shark fin comes at the same time as reports the International Court of Justice is sending a team of private investigators to Fiji in 10 days time to look at human rights abuse.

The complaint was reportedly lodged by the International Law Commission and Amnesty International, specifically Sir Michael Wood, a member of the Commission, who gave evidence to the Iraq Inquiry in November 2009, and who was also Principal Legal Advisor at International Court of Justice advisory opinion on Kosovo's declaration of independence.

CRW victim: Investigation at last?
Reports say those that will be interviewed include the families of those who've died at the hands of military, such as the CRW soldiers, and leaders including the country's last democratically elected prime minister, Laisenia Qarase.

C4.5..I suggest whenever you print an item on human rights abuse of any kind by the illegal regime, you display as many photos showing torture victims as possible. That way it will drive the nail deeper into the bainimarama regime coffin in the minds of the people.

Bainimara is a good leader and all quarters of Fiji are now supporting him. The latest is the village from Rewa. With this level of support Bainimara will cruise to victory. He and his government have only done good for the country. Parties like FLP and NFP are dead as they have nothing new to offer. Who wants a nationalist, Mahen Chadhury to come back as an MP. He has done more harm to Fiji than any good. Time for Fiji Indians to pledge their support to Bainimara.

But everyone here in Fiji has known for years that the Asians have been using this place to offload the fins.

How else did they think it was sent out to China quickly ?

C4/5 please stop bullshitting about ICC! It seems that motormouth Rajesh Singh has passed on he ICC story putting our people on the ground in trouble. As you bloody well know, ICC just doesnt walk into a country and starts investagating crimes.

If Fiji was really involved in trafficking the fins of sharks, then explain why Sayed-Khaiyum still has his arms!

The shark fin trafficking is organised by the same Chinese who are trafficking drugs and prostitutes into Fiji. It's a triad operating with the knowledge, blessing and assistance of the Chinese Embassy, and the Chinese People's Liberation Army and its front companies. Fulluck Travel is at the epicenter of these lucrative businesses in Fiji. Its patron is Bainimarama. You can bet that he gets a healthy cut of all action -- probably kept offshore in a Hong Kong bank account.

Bainimara will easily win the election.

Shark fin issue too big for Bai who has only been coached to babble fluff about the political leaders. He would put his big foot in his mouth if allowed to speak on Air Pacific freighting shark fin to HK.

The European Union is going to lift the ban on sugar aid. Another
milestone for Bainimara government. The sugar cane farmers will get a record payment of $80.00 per tonne for last year's crop. With Chadhury and cane growers council out the farmers are reaping the benefits now. More and more Fijians should start planting sugar. It is a pity that Rabuka and Qarase that did not helping the farmers in extending their lease. Otherwise our sugar production wouldn't have fallen from 400000 tonnes to 200000 tonnes a year. Thank you Bainimara for salvaging our sugar cann.

Don't know about matvuvale.com, i can't get through either, though haven't tried yet this morning. As for only 60 people turning up to the meeting in fiji, that's wonderful news because it's 3 times more than turned out for our last FDFM rally a few years ago, and we live without a dictatorship and no fear of being illegally detained and tortured.
My guess is the 60 represent the views of the 600,000 and none of those will support the mentally challenged Frank Bainimarama and narcissistic and morally challenged Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum.

If he succeed the Interpol will definitely arrest these
asseoles, during one of their next overseas

so they can nailed the bigest asseole of all

so they can have their libido back?
Hey what about us-eh?

Wadan Narsey statement on USP said...

Professor Wadan Narsey appears has posted a statement on Crosbie Walsh. He states he was invited by the USP Journalism Students Association to be the Chief Guest and speaker on their World Press Freedom Day program.

The USP management instructed the Head of School (Professor Mishra) and the Dean of FAL (Dr Kendrayate) to have his removed from the program.

USP has been systematically brought under the control of the regime by the gutless VC Rajesh Chandra and his deputy, Dr Esther Williams. One day they they should be called to account for destroying academic freedom at a once-respected institution.

Among his staff at USP SLAM, Professor Sudesh Mishra is known as an anglophile who pays lip service to academic freedom but does not have the balls to defend when it is breached and his own school is at the receiving end.

If Bainimarama is salvaging the sugar industry, salvaging the airlines, salvaging tourism, salvaging flood victims, etc., then why does he keep savaging the Fijian people? If he's so popular that he's bound to be elected in a cakewalk, then why is he so afraid of elections that he has to postpone them, gaol his opponents, deregister their poltical parties, threaten them, etc.? What ypu're saying doesn't add up. Sounds like more regime lies to me.

I wonder how much the Chinese in Hong Kong pay for Fijian testicles.

The Chinese consider Fijian gonads a delicacy. They add them to their wonton soup.

They're easy enough to harvest. All the Chinese need to do is to bribe Fiji's self-proclaimed leaders. Then they begin operating their drug and prostitution rings. Next come their gamblers and sex tourists, then their "concessionary" loans. By that point, they've got us by the balls. Simple!

The trick is harvesting enough Fijian balls, because they're so small.

I am totally in agreement with you. Labour Party has taken Fiji way back to the days of Girmit. NFP has had very decimal performance since Justice Jai Ram Reddy retired from the party. None of the present day leaders of NFP has had anything to show for. All they can show is how poorly they have performed with zero result. NFP will need a new leader to revive the party. They will have to move away from Attar, Parmod and Biman. This 3 have dragged the party down and have tarnished the party's name and now the people laugh when NFP is mentioned.

Why does FB has to be the one receiving the new Airbus? Is he just being a kaicolo? Or just an opportunity to go sightseeing? Or is he now the Acting CEO for Air Pac?

Was the picture of Bai with the
smiling woman beside him taken in
France or elsewhere?
Looks like both parties were suprisingly satisfied?
Was that a part of the deal? Travel to France, get laid and be truely satisfied, before you
get on your flying carpet and take it home ?
No wonder the frieken guy
is selling out, our God of the sea,I
hear that shark fin is 100 percent
better than the blue pills-Viagra?
I just can't believe that Bai would
be willing to go this far,in selling out his very own God of the
Bai if you're listening,hear
this out, you can still be the MAN!
and you can still come back home to
But yeah gotta give it up and
you're gotta be very careful of the
side affect of both the fin & viag?
If you're feeling like
there's a Duna dragging down your pants leg,
you can be sure the fin side-effect is coming on?
If you feel the Duna is trying to burst out,you
will know that the Viag is hitting a home run? So for god sake give
Dakuwaqa a break and allow the old man the respects he deserved?

Well, I guess THIRTEEN YEARS late is better then not at all!

We have to ask; WHY the FOUR THOUSAND AND FIVR HUNDRED DAYS procrastination.

Would International Court Judge J R Ram might have any influence (if any) while he was on the glorified bench during the past 13 years of stupidity?

We ask; what influence( if any ) would that former Fiji Gov Lawyer, now in International Law Club in Brussels have ?

Former Fiji Police commissioner Hughes enjoying Champaign at the UN Police top job in the last 7 years?

All we are saying, if time is of the essence and urgency our human rights concerns, then why....why the blooming delay!!!!!!!

Or would this kinda investigation by this same mob end up like the one conducted in Argentina, Zimbabwe, Iraq, Haiti, former Yugoslavia......

Or should we now be talking about costs, mode and time for restitution afforded to all victims of the last 13 years...phew!!...a lot of work to do before we present a Coup free Fiji to the next generation!

Oh...shark fin?...goodness, have been traded since the sandalwood day on 1800...why worry!...just some greenie environmental club who may be crying for more funding are shouting!.. haven't your tried shark fin soup in our local food mart??...what the big deal!!...phew!....the wide Pacific Ocean is the huge breeding ground...so why worry!...let's get more shark fin soup...uh...let's just stop "souping" each other, for goodness sake!

The people of Naimasimasi, Serua are calling on old politicians to give way to the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama’s new political direction.
Naimasimasi chief, 66-year-old Vitoriano Koroicagica, told the Fiji Sun at the village that old politicians had already served the country but had failed to deliver to the people.
Now with the elections looming in 2014, they were trying hard to win back votes from the very people they had failed.
“We, the people of Naimasimasi, want a new leader; one who really cares for the people and also someone who can lead Fiji with a new political direction,” the 66-year-old chief said.
“To be fair, what we want is now being carried out by the Prime Minister and we will support his new political party.”
Mr Koroicagi said old politicians would bring back the politics of race.
The Prime Minister’s new political direction has totally removed this and everyone is given equal treatment.
“I’m not afraid to say that old politicians used the race card for their own political benefit,” he said.
The Prime Minister’s new political direction has prioritised developments in the rural areas and according to Mr Koroicagi the people of Namasimasi had benefitted a lot from this.
“I thank the Government for providing us with much-needed assistance.”
He admitted that the Prime Minister’s loyal and good leadership had given them hope.
The village chief said his people were loyal supporters of the Alliance Party and when Sitiveni Rabuka formed the Soqosoqo ni Vakavulewa ni Taukei (SVT), they crossed over and did the same. He added when Laisenia Qarase formed the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) they supported it as well.
“These three governments did very little development in our village.”
However, he said the Prime Minister Commodore Bainimarama-led Government had provided a lot of assistance to the village.
“This Government makes things happen.”
With Government’s motto of making things happen, Mr Koroicagi said they now had good roads, access to good health care, quality water, electricity and quality education.
“We had asked for these things before but no one heard us.”
For this year an allocation of $500, 000 has been made for the improvement of Waibogi, Wainadiro and Naimasimasi roads.
Mr Koroicagica has also given 50 acres of land for the new Nuku Secondary School.
He said this would solve the hardships faced by parents who send their children away to schools and were looked after by their relatives.
Government had given $400,000 for the construction of the new school.

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from sin and Set us free. Please

Come back and rule our nation, be number one in our nation.

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we once again can be called 'One nation under God!'
