Ro Teimumu Kepa responds to Bainimarama

The Rewa chief takes on Bainimarama and launches SODELPA's manifesto

Today we give Fiji the SODELPA manifesto for national happiness, progress and freedom. I wish to sincerely pay tribute to the party members who contributed to it over a period of several months. They have performed a great service to SODELPA and the country.

SEA OF BLUE: SODELPA supporters  defy regime and turn out in numbers to march in solidarity in Lautoka with leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa
We have called the manifesto Reclaiming Fiji because for nearly eight years our motherland has been in the hands of an unelected dictatorship intent on reshaping it according to its will.

The time has come to put Fiji back into the arms of the people. We own this country and we will decide its future. Our manifesto explains how SODELPA will restore and renew Fiji and lead it into a new world of togetherness and respect, where we overcome our differences, live as good neighbours and help each other. It will be a Fiji of prosperity and opportunity. Our nation will shine again as a symbol of hope for humanity. Guided by the principles of our party, we seek God’s blessing for the task ahead. It will not be easy given the hurt, the stress and the damage caused to the country.
SODELPA UNITED: Deposed PM Laisenia Qarase among the marchers.
But we have much talent and energy among our parliamentary nominees; we are inspired and lifted by our vision for these islands. We have the ideas and the resolve to make them real. So now we are on the march! We are seeing public support for SODELPA in every corner of Fiji and overseas where our people live. They are joining with us in what is more than an election.

We are embarked on a crusade against the forces of tyranny! For all this time the dictatorship of Voreqe Bainimarama and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has kept Fiji in a tight web of control. They have encircled us with unjust decrees; inundated us with lies; limited our rights as human beings and acted with unimaginable cruelty and heartlessness when this served their purpose.

Fiji’s evolving democracy – government of the people, by the people and for the people – was crushed. Our voices were stilled as authoritarianism and fear gripped the land. Even within the ultimate sanctuary of our homes we were not safe, and did not feel safe, from the oppressive rule of the usurpers. We are still not beyond their reach. But we are protected by our solidarity and unity of spirit, firm belief in our cause and trust in God. As we go about our daily lives, we observe decline in so many parts of our national life. Poverty weighs down on us.
BLUE POWER: Party colours out in force.
The economy is not producing enough jobs. My friends …. it is time to change all of this. Reclaiming Fiji covers myriad topics and issues. Its title speaks of some of those things we must address if the nation is to be made whole. They are all to do with the welfare of the people. First we must reclaim Fiji for work, food and freedom. If our people have no jobs and little income, how can the country advance and become all that we want it to be? It cannot.

Our citizens have to be provided with the means of supporting themselves. That calls for more jobs and opportunities for earning. We devote many pages of the manifesto to restoration of the economy and development, for this is what will provide work and incomes.

We feel for all who have been driven into poverty; they groan under the burden of rising prices and struggle every day to feed their children and themselves. The second policy point in the manifesto is for them. SODELPA will continue with price control on basic food items which will be free of value added tax. We will immediately allocate $50 million annually to subsidise the cost of food. This is an emergency measure that should lead to costs below the controlled prices. Never again, ladies and gentlemen, must we allow our freedoms to be taken from us. They are a cherished part of our humanity. We are born free. Civilized nations live according to laws and rules which guarantee freedom to speak out and express opinions.

There is a natural instinct to be free from excessive control and command from those in authority; to be free to act according to our beliefs and seek the happiness of which we dream. We have lived for almost eight years in a Fiji of stolen freedoms. Even now, as we approach the election, they have not been fully returned. The Bainimarama-Khaiyum constitution contains a long list of rights and freedoms. But many of them can be limited, and the “terrible two” know this only too well; they know these freedoms can be limited. They know that these rights and freedoms can be changed. This applies to Fijian land ownership.

So how much value do these rights have? What is their worth? SODELPA stands for freedom. Our manifesto contains a pledge to abolish laws that suppress our freedoms. We will ensure that any limitations on them are justifiable in, and consistent with, a free society.

We wish to exercise our freedom to restore God to a constitution that is owned by our citizens. The constitution imposed on us in 2013 is Godless. Bainimarama and Khaiyum decided in their arrogance that Fiji should become a secular state. They should be reminded that Christianity came to these islands when the Fijian were heathens. It changed forever the nature of indigenous society. The people were converted and saw the light of Jesus Christ.

This was always recognised in our constitutions until the imposition of 2013. The 1997 document spoke of the enduring influence of Christianity and its contribution to Fiji, along with that of other faiths. But this unelected regime simply removed God from their version of the supreme law and then untruthfully claimed that we the people had established the law.

We did not. We were not allowed the time or opportunity to properly present our views on this very emotional and sensitive issue. Now Bainimarama and Khaiyum are pushing what they call neutral prayer and an anonymous supreme being. Pope Benedict XVI told us that “without God man neither knows which way to go, nor even understand who he is …..” Our manifesto affirms SODELPA will place God in His rightful position. So that our people in this globalised world, will have a strong sense of identity and purpose. The religious freedoms of all citizens will be guaranteed.

We say to the two authors of the 2013 constitution: We do not need your advice on how to pray. We reject your attempts to encourage worship of an unknown deity. Our manifesto says we are reclaiming Fiji for truth, justice and peace. Truth has never been more important when we live under a regime that has nourished itself through lies. So let the truth be a guiding beacon for Fiji. SODELPA commits to an enduring truth: We are answerable to God and we are answerable the people.

Let justice be restored in all its grandeur. We believe in the rule of law and an independent judiciary. At the moment there are unjust limitations on our legal rights. These must end. The law must treat everyone equally no matter who they are. SODELPA asks how it is possible that the indigenous Fijians have become victims of a decree that denies some of their fundamental rights in law, including international conventions particularly the ILO Convention 169 and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People2007.

The indigenous Fijians have been pushed into a state of inequality. What kind of people are they who have written and enacted such discrimination? It is unbelievable that two people born and bred in Fiji, and brought up in our society could act like this towards a community and expect gratitude and loyalty in return. This will soon come to an end. We yearn for peace my friends. We simply want to be part of a society dedicated to this great virtue, that plays such a central part in Christianity and in the other religions which define our country. May peace be written on our hearts. Our party rejects totally the notion that our national challenges can be solved through acts of violence, force intimidation and illegality.

We have drunk from this bitter cup too often. SODELPA dedicates its manifesto to future generations. I tell myself all the time that our responsibility is not just to put right the Fiji of today.

We must leave a better country for those who follow. That is what our manifesto will do. I come to the end of what I wish to say with a message for the military. It is this: We are all of this country. You are our brothers and sisters, our relatives; our family. It is time to bring the family together. There is much to be proud of in your record of helping to keep peace in the world.

But here in Fiji we need peace too; peace in its fullness. There must be reconciliation between the army and the people. You are here to serve them through their elected representatives in Parliament. That is where the national sovereignty lies. A SODELPA Government will care for everyone in Fiji; it wants to care for you as well.

We must therefore build a new relationship founded on trust. A first step in the healing is a truth and reconciliation commission headed by an independent international jurist. It will give the people and the army an opportunity to say what went wrong; it will help to find answers that to this day still remain elusive.

We need to listen to each other and decide together how coups can be stopped. Our children surely deserve a future with no more coups. SODELPA intends that the commission will be tempered by the principles of restorative justice, forgiveness and mercy. The time-tested Fijian ceremonies of matanigasau will be part of the process. As a separate exercise, we will commission a comprehensive review of the military’s operations and role and consult its leadership on the terms of reference.

Ladies and gentlemen, SODELPA goes forward from here into the most intensive period of a long campaign for election. We are ready to reclaim Fiji, for work, food and freedom; for truth, justice and peace; for our future generations. I thank you for the love and respect you give to me. I hope I am worthy of it. I give my love and respect to you. And now I am greatly honoured to launch our manifesto. I ask that God bless us all.

Do all people remember when Military was rounding up the corrupt SDL ministers in 2006 "clean-up campaign" Kepa as the corrupt Minister of Education wound down the heavily tinted ministrial car window and challenged the the army to "come and get meeeeeeee if you can"
Got her they did. She had thought as she is the high chief from Rewa nobody can touch her.
The likes of her her are responsible for abolution of GCC by the military.
Now she has made an about turn and wants reconcilliation with the military. What a shame.....Kepa

You had your chances and squandered it.
You are one of the many high profile chiefs who are responsible for the demise of GCC.
Don't cry now over the spilt milk.

You and other chiefs thought you were God sent to rule over Fiji Islands forever and ever and kept your own people under ranson and led a Kings life by taking all lease money from your own people in the name of high chief sennt by God. your people were struggling and starving in the name of giving all to their chief.
You kept the E-taukies under spell for generations to provide for your selfish desires.

It took the courage of the Fiji military commander in name of Bainimarama to break that spell for the betterment of all E-Taukies. They have begun to see what independent life means now with all the personel progress that goes with it.

Now after 8 years of liberty you will face a new generation of independent thinking E-Taukies. And they will say to you CATCH MEEEEEEE IF YOU CAN

To the many who do not understand my above post in the Fijian language which is the iTaukei language. I was saying that I am in awe of this brave lady, born in a chiefly household and is doing exclusively what a true chief should be doing. In the face of being ridiculed, demeaned and obscenely sworn at, she calmly and humbly braves on encouraging her people and many others to face difficult odds with determination and a will to fight the cause of true justice, honesty and fairness and that the iTaukeis will not lose what rightly is theirs so that they can be in a position play their roles well as hosts in their lands and fishing grounds and as protectors to the rights of migrants and visitors to what has been God-given to them.
This is the gist of her message which is much more fitting for the people of Fiji than the lies that Bainimarama and Khaiyum are trying to thrust down our throats.

Questions for Sodelpa - Ro Kepa.

1.When Ro Kepa was the Minister of Education how did she help the Fijian schools and children?
2.How many times did she visit Rewa Secondary School in Nalili? her own back yard?
3.How many Fijian schools did she upgrade or rebuilt?

4. Methodist Church and GCC were politicised movements which were not neutral and operated as vigilante movements. Their aim were to protect incompetent and corrupt nationalist governments.

WHAT INSTITUTION:..CARRIED OUT THE COUP IN 2006?....
This is institution's leadership is TOP HEAVY...and have engaged a lot of key positions in Govt that needs our Graduates to fill.. We should reduce the number officers working for this institution. Cause now they blame race, religion and other institution for causing the problem...it is them who carry out this thing called COUP DE TA...and blood shed...

We're not surprised therefore you have "misunderstood" the itaukei lot; obviously, majority itaukei subscribes to the Judeo -Christian faith.

Sir,May be best you ask those taunting and insulting questions to your own relatives and friends in Fiji...or may your overwhelming blind allegiance to the tyrant duo Bainimarama and Aiyuz has unfortunately transformed you to be now an enemy of Fiji and her people...oh, how you've fallen so low!!...and God have mercy on your soul!

Sir, I suggest this weekend you meditate on SODELPA's Leader speech..like.."We are embarked on a crusade against the forces of tyranny!"

..uh...meditate on those words, Sir!

Vinaka vakalevu SODELPA and Ro Teimumu Kepa. You have complied with everything according to the dictatorial process for all political parties as set out by this illegal Regime. Now you have launched your Manifesto. Speak with wisdom, courage, dignity and most importantly TRUTH and HONESTY. Up the tempo in your campaign now to September. Reconciliation is a very important part of bringing the people and the Military together for without that the way forward will be difficult. However, the bread and butter issues for the citizens of Fiji must also be part of your campaign for that is the challenge of everyday living. Talk budget in terms of dollars and how your are going to allocate to various government programs. The current state of the economy and the national debt level must be revealed to the voters. HOW you are going to repay these massive debts that you will inherit if you win the election is what the voters and the FIJI TAXPAYERS will be very interested in and that can be a real game changer because the fact is, no matter which party wins, the DEBT will accumulate and way ahead will be challenging. GOD BLESS BELOVED FIJI

Fiji's dilemma post coup!
If Fiji goes down the path of a Truth and Reconciliation Process, it should first set out the desired objectives of one!
I still say you can't build a house on sand and expect it to stand.
South Africa had a successful Truth and Reconciliation, but only because it was considered Legal and because there was no Constitution, at that time, to impinge on such a process!

The same "cannot" be said of Fiji, given that prior to the coup of 2006, such a process had already been declared UNCONSTITUTIONAL by Fiji's Courts!
Consequently,I don't quite understand the call for a Truth and Reconciliation under these circumstances and I believe it is a mistake
A Traditional Reconciliation may work among Indigenous Fijians, but that will only deal with a small portion of those involved given that it is likely that the vast majority of the Architects of the 2006 coup d'etat, are non-Indigenous!
So we can assume therefore, that a Traditional Process just won't apply, nor work, nor achieve the same results, with non Indigenous Fijians, and then there are those who are not even Fijian at all!

I believe that there will need to be clear cut decisions and processes based on the Rule of Law under the 1997 Constitution 1st. That the various Religious Leaders can play a role in the Spiritual Healing of the Nation. That accountability will have to be taken for the Human Rights atrocities, going back as far as 1987 and 2000, if only to heal the wounds of relatives and loved ones still suffering the grief of loss, including the children of those men killed. And then, as a last resort rather than as a 1st. resort, a traditional Ceremony of forgiveness and reconciliation, but it must only be done, when those responsible for their roles, come forward and proclaim their guilt and what they have done, not an easy thing for any man or woman to do and it will require much courage and fortitude indeed, something Nelson Mandela's wife Winnie, didn't possess.
The time for finger pointing must come to a close, the time for a lasting peace and a lasting prosperity for all in Fiji, must now be on the horizon. Serious consideration must be given to the probability that, Fiji is better off without a Military or that its Military perhaps should be entwined / integrated with a Military which respects its place in The Westminster System of Government. This could well and should, remove the spectre of anyone using Fiji's Military to impose their own agenda, such as has been done in the past and from the 1st. coup.
A/
It's time, in my view, that all Fijians were forced to respect and apply, the Rule of Law! That must be and should be, The Governments first priority.
B/
That a process of Spiritual healing for the Nation and its people, must be undertaken by the various Religious Leaders
C/
That The Government begin to address the possibility that it must downsize, remove or integrate its Military with that of England, America, Australia or New Zealand or all four Countries, knowing that to do so, would remove the spectre of another coup, create further ongoing Career and job opportunities , better pay and training and more prospects to those involved in such a lateral approach, while removing the prospect of further coups.

mark manning said...

Part 2 of 2 :- This on its own, the removal of the prospect a further coups, would make it worthwhile and far outweigh the emotional belief that Fijians Sovereignty was being exchanged.
Now more than ever, with China's increasing influence in the World, it is becoming imperative that all our borders be protected and that we integrate and communicate effectively. This is no longer about Fiji only.
D/
Lastly and as importantly, Traditional processes should be implemented, but I don't believe they should override due Process and The Rule of Law.

My views may not make it any easier for Fiji's Military and they may not make it any easier for an incoming Government, but I don't believe one should just cave in for the sake of expedience, rather, that one should be open and honest from the start.
Many people will need to be arrested and brought before the Courts for their role in the tortures and murders and Human Rights atrocities under this and previous Regimes!
Only then, can Fiji truthfully, begin to heal.
this is the test for Fijians and its Leaders.
Anoverriding fear i have already is this, there may already be people who are responsible for this coup, willing to confess in return for Immunity from prosecution and that it will be aconvenient and expedient way to brush aside a conviction and avoid prison.
Any attempt at a Reconciliation, prior to an adherence to The Rule of Law arrests and convictions, would be a farce and insult to those who have died and suffered at the hands of Fiji Police and the RFMF and that cannot be allowed to happen, under any circumstances!
Fijians have to grow up and come into the 21st. Century and respect their own constitution and all it entails, without fear of favour, otherwise, the process of the revolving door of coup after coup after coup after coup, will never end.
I'm happy to forgive, while closing the prison door!
No more sweetheart deals, just Justice for the victims since 1987.

Regime trolls trying to insinuate corruption on the part of Ro Teimumu is really rich. Ro Teimumu has declared all of her assets. Why haven't Bainimarama and Khaiyum? Her salary as Minister was public knowledge and paid by the Department of Finance. Why were Bainimarama and Khaiyum's salaries hidden for years and paid by the private accounting firm run by Khaiyum's aunt? Why is their declaration of assets so deficient? Why no auditing of the government or any of the accounts used by the PM? Isa, the PM's Emergency Flood Fund was so obviously a slush fund that even the Chinese stopped contributing to it!

We are not the misunderstood Taukei but let me remind you about the beauty of Democracy is that is allows individual to make his or her own choice.

Under Dictatorship which i assume that you prefer to be governed under does not allow for freedom of choices.

Under dictatorship people do not have the liberty of choices and the most fearful people on earth are DICTATORS those that also benefited through corruption and nepotism especially under Bia and Khai's regime.

You do not have a right to tell us who to vote because we do not need to reminded by half schooled people like you and Bainimarama.

Putin Blames Ukraine For Downing Of Passenger Plane In Pro-Russian Rebel Territory

Kremlin-backed Russia Today is covering the shoot down of a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane in the only way it knows how: blaming everyone except the Russian government.

Leading its website just one day after the plane was downed in pro-Russian rebel-held territory with 298 people onboard, RT's main headline is to a video of the U.N. Security Council discussion on the topic, along with other headlines that insinuate it was Malaysia Airlines' fault for flying over the area.

"Questions over why Malaysia plane flew over Ukrainian warzone," one headline reads. Another, under its military vertical "Op-Edge," asks "Why was MH17 flying through a war zone where 10 aircraft have been shot down?"

Noticeably absent is any mention of Russian support for the separatists in eastern Ukraine believed responsible, who were caught on an audio recording talking about the plane, after they apparently realized they had shot it down.

In one leaked call, one militant asks, "What was it doing in Ukraine's territory?" Another, identified as Nikolay Kozitsin, responds, "That means they were carrying spies. F--- them, got it? ... They shouldn't be f---ing flying. There is a war going on."

On the route, according to a Malaysia Airlines spokesman speaking to the Telegraph: "This route is an approved route. Fifteen out of 16 airlines use this route. It's a safe route — most other countries use this route. So we were not given any notice to change this."

RT's coverage shouldn't come as a surprise, however. Soon after the crash, Russian President Vladimir Putin attempted to blame the government of Ukraine for the disaster.

An interview on the site published Friday parroted this narrative under the headline, "Malaysia airplane tragedy is a wakeup call to the Ukrainian govt to stop what it is doing."

In response to what she called a "total disregard for the facts," RT Correspondent Sarah Firth resigned from the channel on Thursday, according to BuzzFeed. "When this story broke I ran back into the newsroom and saw how we were covering it already and I just knew I had to go," she said.

The channel also had a similar record in its coverage of Russia's annexation of Ukraine's Crimea.

THE 17 DECREES.

To the many hundreds attending the SODELPA Manifesto launch, absolute silence and gasps of disbelief, were the reactions, as Prime Minister Lai...senia Qarase read out the list of decrees (17 so far), introduced and implemented by the Regime, weakening the Fijians of Fiji, or lately known as iTaukei.
We did not know or perhaps did not fully understand the implications of the decrees, but now we know and we owe it to ourselves as a people, to let everyone know. The decrees are as follows:

1) The Fijian Affairs Great Council of Chiefs regulation of 2007 to suspend the GCC, the highest body in the affairs of the Fijian people. The GCC advised the Government of the day on everything Fijian, protecting the land, resources, traditions and culture, and also nominated the President of the Nation.

2) The GCC amendment decree of 2008 to terminate the GCC nominees to the Fijian Affairs Board to be replaced by Government appointees.

3) The Fijian Affairs (Provincial Councils) amendment regulation of 2008 to terminate attendance at Provincial Councils of educated urban Fijians.

4) The Fijian Trust Fund (amendment) Decree No.2 of 2009 that terminated the GCC as appointing authority for the Fijian Trust Board and replacement by government appointees.

5) The Native Land Trust (amendment) decree no 31 of 2009 to terminate the appointing authority of the GCC to the Native Land Trust Board and its replacement by Government alone.

6) The Native Land Trust (amendment) Regulation of 2010 that terminated the share of royalty income for the Chiefs.

7) The Mahogany decree No.16 of 2010 that terminated Native Land Trust Board’s power and authority over mahogany leases on native land and power to fix and negotiate financial return on mahogany and its replacement by a council headed by Bainimarama and Khaiyum.

Anonymous said...

8) The Surfing Areas Decree no. 35 of 2010 that terminated control of surfacing areas by iTaukei and their trustee iTLTB, vesting all rights under Government.

9) The Fijian Affair (amendment) Decree No 31 of 2010 that took away “FIJIAN’ as their name to be replaced by iTaukei.

10) The Native land Trust (Amendment) Decree No 32 of 2010 that removed the President as chiefly representative and Chairman of iTLTB Board and replacement by the Prime Minister.

11) The Land Use Decree No 36 of 2010 that gave to the Prime Minister unfettered power to designate Native land to a Land Bank to be administered by the Land Use Unit and Director of Lands.

12) The Native Land Trust (amendment) Decree No 20 of 2010 that terminated the GCC authority over extinct Mataqali land.

13) The Native Land Trust (amendment) Decree No 20 of 2012 that terminated the power of the GCC to determine customary ownership of extinct Mataqali land.

14) The iTaukei Affairs (amendment) Decree No 22 of 2012 that terminated the existence of the GCC.

15) The iTaukei Trust Fund (amendment) Decree No 23 of 2012 that terminated the GCC administrative power of the Fijian Trust Fund.

16) The 2013 Constitution that removed the entrenched provisions allowing the Government of the day to change native land legislation without first obtaining the prerequisite prior consent of native owners.

17) The Unit Title (Amendment) Decree No 38 of 2013 that removed the restriction of that Act on native land.

SO, WHERE DO WE STAND?
SODELPA will bring back all the provisions as we knew them. Even the United Nations at a meeting in Geneva in 2012 had cautioned the Regime in Fiji to recognize the rights of native Fijians. In reply, the UN was told the Regime does not recognize indigenous rights and the Regime’s laws are designed to bring about uniformity to achieve equal citizenry.
But the UN warned that the abuse of indigenous rights of native Fijians and changes without consultation with them and prior consent are acts of discrimination.
Today, surrogates of the Regime, especially Raturala and Kisoko are audaciously proclaiming through the newspapers, TV and radio that native rights are better protected through the 2013 Constitution. It’s all lies and done shamelessly.
The Fijians want entrenched legislations protecting their rights to be re-instated. They want the GCC and the Senate back.
The Fijians don’t trust Bainimarama. Ratu Timoci Vesikula spoke after Qarase and branded Bainimarama as ‘anti-Fijian’.

With benefit of the doubt many of us were of the view you both are mature Fijians, sane, logical thinkers and crusaders of nothing else but the truth.

Hence, my attempt to meet you at that cyber blog plateau for a sane and educated discussion on this topic stream. Seems one of you chooses to linger below the belt ( who is forgiven) while the other chooses to use only one lence of the pair of binoculars while looking at the post Bainimarama Tyrannical and the present Fiji circus.

Did yours truly commit as member of the SODELPA in my last post? I do not think so, as a former Vice President of the NFP-youth wing, may warm towards the NFP with PM Qasere's former Barrister at the helm.

Again, I ask you both and who ever will to meditate on SODELPA's Leaders speech..para 5/1.."We are embarked on a crusade against the forces of tyranny!"

This redemptive message has been same and may be constructed differently by other political parties, including a few present and prospective Fiji First Party candidates themselves.

Remember my friends, though your political leanings are way of my preferences, no doubt,we are in the of same vision to return Fiji to sanity and righteous rule...I know you both would agree with me on this honorable and sincere vision...se vaevei?

Army says to Semi Meo...and what is your political learning Semi. As a NFP Youth Leader did you actually learn anything from Indians and the way they are politically inclined particularly when in 1999, the Indian community turned against NFP for the alliance it formed with SVT. The same with Labour when they formed the same alliance in 1994 resulting in the downfall of Labour. Does this not paint a clear picture of how Indians in Fiji view politics and their political ambition. Of course we are all so ready to return Fiji to democracy albeit the Military and its council who with illusion see themselves as Saviours of beloved Fiji and have quickly pointed their fingers at the Chiefs, past politicians and church leaders and like Judas, deny selling Fiji for 16 pieces of silver, which for Frank and numerous military leaders, have turned to gold and they now enjoy important positions in Government. Were you not in a capable position yourself to see and understand. I'm sure you did for if not for NFP, Fiji would not have come out with the 1997 Constitution and the NFP leader acknowledged for his contribution towards its formation. By the way welcome back...

It is most likely Frank was not involved nor aware of the parties (Rabuka & Co) involved in the 1987 coup. Having said that Frank would have supported that coup being a Fijian and believing in the ideals of the coup.

With regards to the 2000 coup, there is no doubt Frank was aware that;

1. Of the threats to carry out the coup.
2. Involvement of Military Officers and soldiers in the coup.
3. Allowed military support of the rebels at the initial stages of the 2000 coup and this included the wilful supply of arms and food to the rebels by the military, which was conveyed in military and government vehicles.
4. Item 3 is supported by the fact that Frank continued to allow payroll for those soldiers including CRW involved in the 2000 coup. They continued to receive their pay.

Things only took a turn when the CRW made the attempt on Frank's life.

Did Qarase know about the 1987, 2000 and 2006 coup. Most likely he was aware of the 1987 and 2000 coup. He was threatened by Frank with the 2006 coup.

Rabuka - well so no more for this itaukei saviour from Drekeniwai. He and the military council and soldiers who supported him in the 1987 coup owe the people of Fiji an explanation and he needs to show and tell.

The Chiefs and Methodist Leaders may have encouraged and were involved in the planning and supporting the military in carrying out the coup however, it is the Military that executed and or failed to prevent each of the coup from 1987 to 2006 from happening. They are therefore responsible for each and every coup that has happened because they have FAILED IN THEIR DUTY to protect and serve the people of Fiji. They have now changed their job description into thuggery and are holding the people of Fiji to ransom with their fear and oppression.

Army says to Vitivou Ni Mataka...If you read all of Frank's interviews in which he explains his actions, you will find he continually refers to the Military Council. For Frank to execute his actions, he correctly states that the Military Council supported and endorsed his carrying out the coup of 2006. Every other action made by Frank, he continues to state the Military Council has endorsed these actions and this includes the BLV. What we as itaukei should be surprised with is the decision made by Frank and the Military Council which makes up 99% of itaukei. The basis behind their decision is the Chiefs involvements in the 2000 and 1987 coup. Having said that, the Military refuses to take responsibility for their own actions in carrying out the coup or inactions in preventing the coup. Blaming the Chiefs and Religious leaders is a political propaganda to cement their motivation and brutal dictatorial actions of the military. Well as the saying goes, someone has to take the fall. Many senior military officers who saw Franks actions resigned or was sacked by Frank. Those that tried to oppose him was charged for some form of basely allegation and removed from the military. The beauty about sunken reefs is that during low tide, the reef tends to rise above the sea level and at high tide goes back under water but never disappearing entirely and I don't believe Frank or his Military Council can and will eradicate a system of life that has existed for 3000 years. He and the Military Council are Fijians aren't they. Or perhaps their aspirations have now changed.

To those that think land a non-issue let me project you 99 years from now, the term of the longest leases. Today the automation and mechanisation of labour is happening. People are being replaced by machines. Even the PM's profession of soldiering is being automated as the State finds the economy of human soldiers unbearable. As 99 years ago Fiji, with its means of employment, was a very different place. 99 years from now the world will be also a very different place. Its hard to imagine as the whole point of people being congregated to cities in the industrial revolution was to concentrate labour resources. But one thing will remain people will need food and shelter. That is why our children will not forgive us for giving up our land rights to the State. It's not about greed i just want to decide for myself. "Compulsory Requisition" does not provide that it hands over that right to the State.

SODELPA isn't for Christians alone. Re-read Ro Teimumu's speech. It says that SODELPA will guarantee the religious freedom of ALL citizens. It notes that Christianity is not the only religion that has contributed to Fiji and is not the only religion that defines Fiji. This is not a Christian version of the Islamic State, where all must convert , flee or be put to the sword. This is a Fiji for people of all races and religions who want to live in freedom by the rule of law.

Concerns have been raised from the chiefly household of Tui Nadi about the campaign tactics employed by SODELPA.
Asinate Dawai of Tui Nadi’s household claimed SODELPA member Isikeli Komaisavai held a meeting at Narewa Village on July 15 where he informed people that if SODELPA formed the next Government, they would convert the freehold land on Denarau Island to native lease.
“SODELPA representative who was speaking at the meeting in our village answered a question raised by one of the villagers about the Denarau land being reverted to them if SODELPA came in power,” she said.
“They were told that all the lands in Denarau were controlled by the Department of Lands and that the Government was trying to take everything.”
She said that this was not the first time a party had come about to mislead the villagers with information especially with land that was very sensitive.
A flyer sent around prior to the meeting claimed that Mr Komaisavai was a lawyer. . He is not.
Mr Komaisavai maintains that he was not misinforming people.
“We mentioned everything as stated in the Constitution and yes I did say that we were going to revert lands in Denarau back to the landowners if we come into power,” he said.
He said that, however, when he was saying fair he was referring to all Fijians to be treated fairly.
Mr Komaisavai is making arrangements to clear these issues from the villagers in another meeting that will be conducted soon. He said he wanted the media to be present to avoid confusions.
Mr Komaisavai made references to the Denarau (Nadi River) Decree 2011 and said that under this, land could be reverted.

Con man Isikeli Komaisavai should first pay the rent owed to his landlord. Last week a vilimoni Rasigatale told voters in Lami village that as soon as they pull out their cassava from the ground vat is added to it. I wonder why SODELPA is using these morons to campaign for them

Army says to Vitivou ni Mataka....

One thing you must remember is that the Fiji Military has a role in Fiji and this role is not to commit treason. You claim Rabuka was used by the GCC but you need to examine this more closely. The mere act committed by Rabuka is a singular personal act by a person conscious of his own actions. The same with those that supported him. This was the catalyst that had set the stage for the coups that followed including Franks. Some of the members of the GCC and other persons who may have been instrumental in influencing Rabuka have their own opinion. What we know today is that a large amount of money had been promised by certain business people towards Rabuka in 1987 and his officers, the Military Officers in 2000 and most probably Frank in 2006. A number of military officers had come forward and confirmed they were promised a large amount of money including Shane Stevens the Captain of the CRW - $200,000.00. What this reveals is that the Military Officers stood to gain financially from the coup and not only financially, but the promise of Government positions they would not dream to hold if they followed the correct protocol including the high office. Our Chiefs are faced with Social changes that impact on the very fabric of a sensitive lifestyle which is quickly eroded like the rising sea level claiming islands in the South Pacific. Do away with one and you do away with the very fabric of a communal system that binds a group of people together and to others within their social fabric. There is a means and way to change things that will help the people and the way to do this is not through the barrel of a gun. If you agree with Frank, than you agree with his coup and every other coup that has been committed in Fiji, which is an act of Treason against the people of Fiji. No matter what reason Rabuka, Speight or Frank has given for carrying out the coup, they all share one common thing, they acted like COMMON CRIMINALS. committing the highest act of crime against their country and how can one accept the word of a CRIMINAL who cares nothing of the VICTIMS they lay in their wake. Time to start thinking cause the clock is ticking.....

The Government's role is to look after all races in Fiji but the GCC is to look after, specifically, the interests of the itaukei. The Indo-Fijians, Rotumans and other races may be should also setup their own institutions to look after their own interests. All these institutions have to consider all important matters that come up in their deliberation, properly discuss and debate them, make suggestions and recommendations and submit them to the government for their further consideration and implementation. Anyone agree with that??

Anonymous said...

There are common criminal in FLP, PDP and NFP which supported the 2006 coup.

Anonymous said...

Army says to Anon 11:58am...that be true for consideration and agreement in a DEMOCRATICALLY elected Government and not a GOVERNMENT led by COMMON CRIMINALs who committed the TREASON against their own people.

The GCC role was defined in the 1997 Constitution by a Democratically Elected Government. How the people see th GCC, their role in Politics etc is something that has to be decided by the people and for the people in a democratically elected Government.

We cannot and should not accept the words of a Common Criminal like Frank Bainimarama who committed Treason and after all the brutality, nepotism, corruption, lack of transparency and the list goes on, decide how we the PEOPLE of FIJI should be governed or certain members of our society who for years have held the fabric of our social community. Of course now we have educated Fijians and Fijians who have made a lot of money who ask, what use is a Chief to me. The same question resounds in a village. The danger here is what Queen Victoria had allowed for Fiji when she agreed to annexe Fiji into her Commonwealth. She gave the land back to the Fijian and proclaimed that she did not want to change the peoples customs, tradition or value. She asked that we continue to live our lives as we have always lived, with respect for our Chiefs and its people. We are now losing our values. Let the people decide I say. Why let a COMMON CRIMINAL decide for you and I what role our Chiefs should play. Im sure our Chiefs would just be as happy removing themselves to their villages. There are some who are very well educated and can be a part of the political scenario but that is their democratic right...oops I forgot, we are not democratic and we are led by COMMON CRIMINALS.....As you were Soldier....

It is not merely about winning, its also the person we are barracking to win. If you want a COMMON CRIMINAL who committed TREASON against you win the election, than you will continue to have common criminals running this country. Why do you think nothing changed when we allowed Rabuka the first COMMON CRIMINAL to lead our country forward. We allowed Rabuka to lead and become our PM because of the fear the people of Fiji had for the Military, the very institution tasked to protect and serve our country have become our OPPRESSORS. Unless we correct this and allow a the proper process to be followed, Fiji will continue to suffer under the tyrannical rule of COMMON CRIMINALS. By the way...the grapes will only ripen if you allow it to be nurtured and lovingly cared for. If you have weeds amongst it, no matter how much care you put into it, it will remain sour. Army says to Anon 1:43pm...what it boils down too are people not realising due to the military propaganda machine, that Frank + COUP + Military does not equal a Democratic Government. The Military with their propaganda has shifted the mindset of people firstly, into believing Franks reason for carrying out the coup in 2006. Corruption and Qoliqoli Bill. They than played the blame game, blaming Chiefs and Religious Leaders. To enforce this they removed the BLV and limited the Methodist Church's conference and what they were allowed to do. Now they are proclaiming what Frank has done for the country. What people fail to realise is that what Frank has done for the people of Fiji with infrastructure - building of roads, water and electricity to villages, free education and others, is well and good. Tap on the shoulder for him however, the manner in which this has been carried out HAS NOT BEEN TRANSPARENT because Franky does not have anyone to answer too - Not even you or I the tax payers who pays for his salary. Furthermore, the amount of money used to pay for all this and where the money came from has not been disclosed to the people of Fiji. In the end, someone has to pay for it. If a party other than FF wins the election, they will have a cumbersome time of shifting through all the mess left by Frank and Khaiyum and only than, the realisation of the impact of a Military Government and the COMMON CRIMINAL ACTS they have committed under the guise of the Government they are currently running and exploiting, will be known. Right now, no one can challenge or discredit them. The people of Fiji must understand and realise that this coup 2006 like all the other coups 2000 and 1987, was committed by COMMON CRIMINALS whose only interest is furthering their own personal interest. It may have not been the case when it started off and merely just a suitcase full of money from various business persons but as power got to their head, the result is 8 years of oppression by a regime answerable to itself.

Army says to Anon 3:24pm. Fiji was discovered by Europeans who brought Christianity into a once evil feudal system and this has had a profound impact on the people and continue to do so. USA, Australia, NZ, England all are Christian states. It does not mean they disrespect other denomination or religious beliefs and neither does that mean that we should too. Having said that we must pay homage and respect towards those that made things possible and the Christians who sacrificed their lives in the name of God for the betterment of a people thick in a feudal system so evil, deserves that recognition. Perhaps if the Muslims had landed on our shores before Europeans, we would be professing Fiji as a Muslim Country or if Indians arrived before Europeans. Fortunately it was the Europeans who brought Christianity and they brought Democracy so why proscratinate on that.

The reality is that Christanity along with other religions came about simply by it's representatives wanting to civilise the unruly and uneducated.

These days where the world has moved on we have such things as laws and rules made by society which now replace the need to follow these imaginary idols used as teaching aids for the undisciplined.

Fiji is one of the best examples of where religion, and predominately Christianity is doing more harm than good. If the same effort and time was put into productivity and following the law of the land than is wasted playing being Christian the country could be thriving.

Can we talk about the NOW.

This regime has thugs, criminals and con artists that can play their trade to the tune of uneducated and stupid people who can suck up to their lies and deceit.

This is really unfair to our people.

The gretest of them all is KING KHAIHUM who has now speaks on behalf of Bainimarama because Bainimarama can not speak good English.

Sa qai vakamadua dina.

Anonymous said...

Anon 4:37, you say that laws and rules made by society now replace Christianity?

Oh, really? Is our society now following the laws and rules made by society? Not at all. We're following the decrees and rules made by a corrupt, semi-literate thug. He's rubbished society's laws and rules and substituted his own at gunpoint.

Were it not for Christianity, we'd still be cannibals. Christianity isn't the problem. Most Christian nations are pluralistic and tolerant. You should show the same tolerance.

Army says to 4:37pm...one cannot stain the word of God with the word of men nor the rule of God with the rule of men. If one chooses not to believe, each to their own however, those that do believe whether to their detriment or spiritual benefit, is their own choosing and that is democracy.

Desperate measures by SODELPA.
Fiji will become a Christian state
under SODELPA. They will bring back qoliqoli bill again. Qoliqoli bill will not put food on my family's plate. Why should I need a law to practice Christianity. Look at what convict Qarase did to sugar cane leases. Now those lands are lying barren. National Leaders should rise above their nationalistic
thinking. Change the adulterous with king hit Rabuka.

You only see greed where I see courage and strength for a weary opposition.

Rabuka a commoner was appointed a life member for the now defunct GCC as a reward for ousting Bavadra. So it was a political movement and not a chiefs body, good riddance.

Yeah right, courage and strength for power and money.

There had been commoners who members of the GCC even before Rabuka executed the 1987 coup d'etat.

What is all this about abolishment of the GCC. It was not abolished. All these illegal pronouncements are not valid.

It's sad that regime supporters have no moral compunction when it comes to telling lies. Now the canard that Ro Teimumu is greedy and power-hungry?! And these allegations have what basis? Are their memories so short that they don't recall that Ro Teimumu initially declined the call to lead SODELPA? She only relented after months of coaxing and even then only reluctantly.

By contrast, THEIR candidate is so greedy and power hungry that he violated his oath and duty by orchestrating the takeover of Parliament by the CRW in 2000. When the coup attempt began to fail, he then liumuried the CRW in yet another attempt to seize power. In 2006 he seized the government in the name of ending corruption and bringing greater transparency. He then did just the opposite: ending all transparency and giving Fiji its most corrupt government ever. He tortured dissenters. He reneged on elections in 2009. It was already clear we wouldn't have those elections when his regime, now ruled illegal, purported to abrogate our Constitution. He took away our freedoms and censored all unfavourable news. He then rammed down our throats his own "constitution" designed to perpetuate his rule and give him even greater power. He paid himself a lifetime of accrued leave, created numerous slush funds, paid himself multiple salaries, engaged in gross nepotism, and took bribes from the Chinese and others.

Let this be a warning to you regime trolls. Keep lying about the opposition candidates, and we'll keep telling the truth about YOURS!

Anonymous 12:08, you sound surprised that regime supporters have no moral qualms about lying. What did you expect? These people have no fear of God and support treason. Lies and character assassnation are mere trifles to them.

Fiji First Party Supporters, in the words of your Leader; "The 2013 Constitution is Fiji's Constitution. If there are a few who don't like it, we will force it down their throats until they do". Does not sound Fijian does it.

I am behind SODELPA 100%. But the Marama could have done better with her response. I feel as if it was done in haste. If she has a speech editor, then he or she should do a better job next time.

SODELPAN is anti indian party they talk only Fijian rights? What about the Indians who have birth right and have sacrificed much for Fiji despite what they had to endure here.Qarase had taken away nearly everything from them. By bringing back all Qarase's SDL anti-indian ploicies, and that with the support of cunning chodhary who is in pain for $2m loss, Indians will have no place to call their home.

Anonymous said...

SDL/SODELPA had/has Pro-Fijian policies but never any Anti-Indian policies. You forget Indian people are not the only other people that live here in Fiji. Name one anti-indian policy [Affecting specifically the Indian people] that SDL/SODELPA has implemented. Anyone, none, thought so.

I was initially thinking about voting for SODELPA.I was waiting for their manifesto to see if they had changed and matured. Yere right its like hoping for a Zebra to change its stripes wishful thinking. Not a single mature nation building statement. The same old racial shit that was spewed by Qarase. Nothing new. When you look at the SODELPA line up the first thing that comes to mind is coconut. Hard shell outside but nothing but water inside. The only difference is that coconut is actually very useful. As much as i dislike Bai i now hate SODELPA.I just pray that most i-taukei don't buy the crap that adulterous "kepa" is spewing. God truly help Fiji if SODLEPA wins.

THEN THE REPORTER SAID IT WAS FROM PRE 2006.

NO SCHOOL BAINIMARAMA FELT LIKE AN IDIOT AND SAID OH OK, WE WILL LOOK AT IT WHEN WE HAVE FIRST SITTING OF PARLIAMENT.

To the many who are demeaning Ro Teimumu for adultery and for many other false accusations. She is at peace with God now because she is seeking to be humble and penitent about her mistakes.

But those who are calling her obscene names are "casting (judgmental) stones" and they will now need to go and correct themselves before God or before their own deity if they happen to not have faith in the true God but worship other gods.

The Lord Jesus Christ Himself said to the adulteress, "Neither do I condemn thee. Now, go and sin more." This is the awesomeness of the Christian God; He forgives when we sincerely repent.

And as for those who say that Ro Teimumu is too old for politics. Please do not judge a book by its cover. Bainimarama and Khaiyum will not be able to take advantage of her age as they cunningly deceived Rt. Iloilo in his senile years. Ro Teimumu has wisdom, is intelligent and is very active mentally. And to top it all off, she has courage like young David who said of Goliath, "Who is this uncircumcised fool who dares to defy my God?"
