Budget reveals high debt but promises economic growth of 4.2%

Fiji First released its 2014 budget on Friday.

As expected the budget is full of promises of developments and freebies.

But with debt at a record high, where will the money come from?

The full budget can be viewed here -http://bit.ly/11P6h7j

Because of space restrictions, I will be brief. In my last post, I stated two things. One is that our world is changing rapidly and radically, the nature and direction of which will astound and perplex many. Two is that Khaiyum is primarily a faithful servant of Islam and he has been promoting the Islamic agenda for many years. Let me begin with Khaiyum and his subtle and surreptitious actions to promote Islam. Then we shall observe the alarming trend of global Islamic expansion and control through immigration.

Fiji’s AG, Khaiyum will never admit he is promoting the Islamic fundamentalist agenda and he will continue to do so by subjugating existing traditions, conventions, laws and protocols. National priorities and development goals will be harmonised with this agenda. He uses Islamic taqiyyah to lie and deceive in order to gain unfettered control. ( Look at his Ministries and know that he is a control freak). This is quite obvious from his words and actions since 1987. His Hong Kong thesis and post 2006 activities also confirm this.

Islamic taqiyya is basically the doctrine that it is necessary and right to lie and deceive in order to defend and promote Islam. Taqiyya is “concealing or disguising one’s beliefs, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions, and/or strategies as a means to save oneself from physical or mental injury.” It may be employed for any purpose whereby “an end justifies the means”. Practically, taqiyya is any form of lying, deceit, misleading, half truths or related practices condoned by Islam to protect the individual from harm. It is one of the reasons why we are surprised by brazen acts of lawlessness, violence or terror by Muslims around the world. The Quran advocates such a doctrine. (Quran 3:28 )

Using this taqiyya, we can evaluate the events of the last seven years and zoom in on the role of Khaiyum and his Muslim family, friends and associates. In 1987, he was involved in the attempt to make bombs to destroy Nadi International Airport. He knew this would kill many innocent lives and destroy vital public infrastructure and our economy. It was precisely because of this high collateral and crippling damage that made them choose Nadi as their strategic target. Destroying Nadi airport would paralyse the airline industry, tourism and all other closely associated industries and economic sectors. But that was a necessary evil to achieve their goals.

His Hong Kong thesis articulates his philosophy and world view. It provides a window into his heart, mind and soul. He was determined to radically transform the status quo in Fiji through whatever means possible. As Kierkegaard once stated, the end justifies the means. No matter how much it costs and what others think, Khaiyum must reform Fijian society according to his agenda

Since 2006, Khaiyum has been involved with Voreqe to justify the illegal military takeover through the doctrine of necessity. His family and friends have been the real power and brains behind the curtains. He has succeeded in abolishing the GCC, attacked the Christian Church, silenced the masses, cowed the press, removed our God given rights, compromised our security forces, corrupted the civil service, paralysed our judiciary, written new decrees to control the indigenous Fijians and their resources, identity and culture and rewrote a constitution to give them immunity for as long as they live. The cumulative impact of his decrees and actions threaten the very survival of the Fijian and Rotuman cultures and traditions ( Viti kei Rotuma), including our freedom to worship God the way we want to. No one else has even dared to attempt such a travesty of justice because of it is wrong, unjust and absolutely dangerous. But Khaiyum has done it and he knows it will come back to hurt him very badly. He has constructed a bomb more deadlier than the one they built for Nadi Airport. Only time will tell how his story will end as the clock ticks away.

But how can Khaiyum be working against the Fijian people when his wife is Fijian, he is dressed as a Fijian, and calls himself Fijian? How can Khaiyum be one of us and not be one with us? How can he be corrupt when he is fighting corruption? ( He set up FICAC to control his enemies ?). How can he be accused of breaking the law when he is the lawmaker? How can the election not be free when the voting age has been lowered, a new constitution has been “endorsed”, anybody can form any party, everybody has been encouraged to register and vote, and an “independent international Committee” has given international endorsement? How on earth can FFP be illegal when they have given people roads, classrooms, toilets, free bus fares, free education, free water, free electricity, etc? How can a student betray and publicly humiliate his professor which he had appointed to lead the drafting of Fiji’s constitution? These are examples of deception of the highest order.(Islamic taqiyya). The devil is alive and well in the highest offices of our land. Better believe it folks.

Since February 2010, Khaiyum’s aunt (Nur Bano) has been the pay-mistress for Fiji’s illegal junta leaders. Khaiyum has controlled several key portfolios directly and several more indirectly. The number and mix of his key ministerial portfolios, his family control over the ministers’ salaries and his far superior intellect to Voreqe made AS Khaiyum the most powerful man in Fiji since 2010. The transition to a Parliamentary democracy only serves to increase and legitimise his control over Government resources and institutions. I believe without a shadow of doubt that Khaiyum is the most powerful man in Fiji today. ( He managed to issue a decree on MP salaries after the election and made a Cabinet reshuffle even before the first Cabinet meeting.) But he will continue to pretend that Voreqe is the leader and Cabinet runs the show. All this is just part of the Islamic tagiyyah we have talked about above.

Islam worships Allah the moon god. In fact they worship Satan, but many of them do not realise that. Compared to the Hebrews and Christianity, Islam is the youngest monotheistic religion and a counterfeit of the two that preceded it. A study on the life and teachings of its false prophet Mohammed is sufficient to conclude that Islam is pure evil so well disguised under the cloak of a religion. Mohammed has established himself as a liar, storyteller, paedophile, adulterer, sex maniac, murderer and master of deceit. He was possessed by demons and his religion is controlled by Satan himself through the mullahs. Several thousands of former Muslims have confirmed this. Salman Rushdie’s “ Satanic Verses” is a classic example.

The secret agenda of Islam is to conquer and rule the whole world to worship Satan ( Allah). As much as possible, they will try and employ crafty and subtle means to gain advantage and control through peaceful means. Once they have the control, they will exercise their power to achieve their goals. This brings us to the demographic changes in various societies and continents today.

For a culture to maintain itself for more than 25 years, it must have a fertility rate of 2.11 children per family. With anything less, the culture will decline. With a fertility rate of 1.3 children per family, population growth will decline that it is impossible to reverse the trend. In other words, over time, that culture will cease to exist, because as the population shrinks so does the culture. There are also other factors acting to affect our cultures apart from population.

Muslims from various countries have been migrating to other countries over the last hundreds of years. Given the low fertility rates in many Euro nations, their demographics have been changing. While Muslim populations in these countries have increased, the host country populations in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, etc. have been shrinking because of their lower fertility rates. Historical records tell us that these numbers are impossible to reverse. (Do you wonder why many of our young men and women are recruited into the British Army?) So in a few years, Europe as we know it will cease to exist. Yet, the population of Europe is not declining. Why? Immigration.

Of all population growth in Europe in the last 25 years, 90% is due to Islamic immigration. In Southern France today, there are more mosques than churches. In France, 30% of all children aged 20 or younger are Muslims. In the cities of Nice, Marseilles and Paris, 45% are Muslims. In 33 years, France will be an Islamic republic. In the UK, over the last 36 years, the Muslim population has been growing from 82,000 to about 3 million today (35 times). There are over 1,000 mosques in Britain. Many churches have been converted to mosques. In the Netherlands, 50% of all new born babies are Muslims.

What the Boci Government of Bhai
should be doing is to pay our 7 players all the money due to each
one of them after they won the Gold
Coast 7?
Also, give Ben Ryan the money he needs to pay & signed all his players under contract?
The 7 players are selling Fiji to the whole world?
People from around the
globe are been lured to come to tiny Fiji just to see,the beauty,
smell the fresh air,eat the natural
food,drink our Fiji water,swim in
our clean ocean,inhale&exhale our
unpoluted clean oxygen.
Yes,the whole world has continously stumped
that a small country-the size of New Jersey -with a indigenous population of 470,000, can field
an internation Rugby 7 calibre team to be able to beat every top team in the league & at various time have even taken the gold
home?
Look Bhai we don't need too many
foreign ambassies, these guys are
the only ambassies we really need?
The more they play & wins the more
we'll find new faces on our shores?
Give Ben Ryan a 5 years deal to
mold these players and creates them
better then the NZ All Blacks?

Wow. I only wish indigenous people of Fiji can be brave enough to retaliate against the newly established Islamic state of Fiji. Where will the money come from?? You ask: Please allow me to answer your question:
Sources of
Revenue include: FIRCA their target for 2014 is to collect $2Billion in unpaid and paid taxes.

Inc .Tax on All Goods imported.

Increase the fines meted out in the Judiciary, i.e Traffic Infringement, Accidents,Drunk Drivers etc to increase twofold which will lessen the commission of such infringements in the first place.

Inc Tax on all financial transactions that move currency out of the region.

Loans or Grants from the donor Countries like India and China or from Asian Dev Bank esp for Development of Infrastructure.

Half of All unclaimed money deposited in Banks should be refunded to Govt.

All Proceeds from Money Laundering Cases to be refunded to Govt.

These are but just a few of the many available avenues that Govt could exploit to boost its revenue.

How much is the UN paying our soldiers,we need to review this deal, times have changed and evolved together with arms and ammunition, arms and ammo are more powerful and hi-tech now allowances paid to our Soldiers and Police Officers in UN Mission to be reviewed ,increased to double or triple more than the initial agreement, there are other threats creeping e.e. Ebola Virus so the RISKS are Ten (10) times more than the First Mission yet we are receiving the same rate on allowances as the first mission.

A presentation to the UN this year would be a good idea when the Ebola Risk and the Syrian Hostage Taking is still fresh in the UN Sec Gen and Committee's minds.

Tinkerbelly we won the election ,how come you are calling us losers???? esp when we are about to receive our presents before X-mas!!!ha,ha,ha,Kailaaa.

I know of 2 criminals in Fiji who have been doing Money Laundering since 2006.
Stealing lots of public money.
I heard they turned Public Assets and made it their own - now called Waqavuka Financing Ltd.
That would be FRAUD, wouldn't it.

These two Cikinovu they stole lots of money. Millions of dollars.

They borrowed money from Chinese TRIADS and laundered it. They make Fiji people pay back with very high interest.
VERY FISHY.

Come on Cikinovu. please catch the 2 bastards (Bai & Kai) and sell ALL THEIR PROPERTIES and reclaim the money back to the people of Fiji.

Maybe YOU SCARED TO DEAL WITH THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM.

COME ON CIKINOVU, I KNOW YOU CAN BITE. PLEASE BITE THE BIG ELEPHANT. OR YOU SCARED TOO?

Amazing that Frank removed a government to avoid being charged for murder, then became PM brought in all sorts of laws to make sure they dont get questioned, tried to do do things such as the Charter to make it seem all good for the people and overseas watchers, tried to make a constitution to shw the world but didnt workout his way, made one himself to suit him and ASK to ensure immunity and then call an election, won it and now he is an elected PM of Fiji. Great job. And what peole of Fiji have forgotten all bad he has done and went for what little he did in the name of taking fiji forward.

What a stupid question. As with all governments, out of thin air of course.

Mukesh said...

I have few suggestions that may help reduce government debt;
1. why government is tooooo frightened to increase tax on export water. Chaudhry at lease had gut to introduce tax, but why this government no increasing?????
2. Why 25% of revenue has to be spent on road building???? Also if significant will be spent on this infrastructure, than will this be contracted to China again??? Will Chinese again bring their materials and labor???? If yes, than where is the economics????
3. Why government has increased the FNPF contribution by 2%, have they consulted the employer regarding this increased burden???? Can employers afford this??? Why not increase incrementally"???? Is part of this money going to fund Momi Project???? Fiji Airways write-offs????
4. Why has the stamp duty on non-resident introduced when Fiji at this point need foreign investment. If they had to bring this tax, than why not only on residential properties and Island properties, and not on Industrial and Commercial properties?????
5. Free medicine - has proper costing being done???? Is all medicine covered and to all patients??? How will this scheme be administered??? Will the medicine be available at government pharmacies only or be also available by private pharmacies???
6. Investment in new hospitals and health centers - why not improving the services and standard with the current system which is at damming state????

There are more serious questions about this budget, but lets get some answer on the above....

The 2015 budget is a sham and Khaiyum and Bainimarama should raise eye brows as their are now running an elected government and not illegal

Julab Dean said...

Where will the money come from?
A stupid question.
From increased taxes.
From increased spending arising from 5 to 8% annual economic growth for the next 5 years.
From increased tourism receipts
From increased exports
From soft loan from IMF and world bank.
From outstanding aid from European Union, NZ and Australia.

Did Rabuka or Qarase prepare a budget like this? Answer no.
So my question to racist SODELPA party and its supporters, where is your alternative budget? Were
your governments able to prepare a budget like this when you were in the government? Than why you guys are envying this budget. During Rabuka and Qarase's era the total loan stood at $2.85 billion dollars and this was despite any major capital works. This was one of the reasons the late President took over Fiji under the doctrine of necessity and he asked the military to run the country. Fiji is changing and is becoming a modern state. My advise to SODELPA members who cannot come on the board to shape up or shipout to Liberia or Conga where your ancestors came from. Sodelpa members should realise moon doesn't belong Neil Armstrong.

KUA NI RERE - this is expansionary fiscal policy. A great budget to stimulate the economy further. There will be lots of flow on effects from this budget. The deficit will be funded by soft loans (borrowing ) from IMF and World Bank. Than we have China our saviour who will give us aid. We are going to get $250 million from European Union. US is going to give us $200 million in aid. Don't forget out neighbours AUS and NZ. Rabuka and Qarase governments didn't maintain the capital work as a result this government has rebuild them. I wonder why during Qarase's period government loan was $2.8 billion dollars and this was inspite of any major capital work. Be assured that you live , your children's life and their future generations will enjoy a high standard of living. After 5 years you will become a FF supporter rather than supporting the racist party.

one way or another, the tax payer is not given the credit that they deserve...that is justice for the waste highlighted in the auditor general's report-now the PAC is faced with more delays.

One good indicator for the budget is to reduce the numbers and values of issues highlighted in the AG report. But No, it's all freebies and more benefits for those on low income, & corporates who can minimise their tax burdens.

Meanwhile the tax revenue weighs heavily on the middle class-at the same time their contributions at the FNPF is going to be 'invested' in Govt(more local debt). I am seeing double at least...

It is surprising to note that opposition parties are silence on budget. Most probably SODELPA has no idea what is happening. The leader being ex-school teacher, she may be thinking increase in education budget means good budget.
How quickly we forget things when Mahendra Chaudhry was in government; all his good policies were heavily criticised.
The same people who criticised MPC's policies gone silence. What a shame that Fijian High Chief's have also gone silence with politicians.
Now these people are hiding behind Biman. Don't they realise that if Biman and in particular NFP chooses to side the government than opposition will have no say.
Wake up and start serious business of protesting the governments actions. Challenge them in Court. Two serious business is before us; the 2015 budget, and Auditors General's report for 6 years.
Khaiyum has smartly times both together so that both rides smoothly with limited opposition

Viti need a practical & experience Minister for Finance to help local itaukei to start business on their land to create employment for their own people. If you Fiji First Government MPs encourage overseas investors to come to Fiji and create business to provide employment, it will be a big risk for the itaukei. I am hoping that those educated itaukei MPs will know how to manouver this important area, otherwise, otherwise after 10 years of your government, the gap will be wider and the fruit of our hating each other (itaukei against itaukei, chief against chief, mataivalu against itaukei) will lead us to a lost tribe through power of guns and power of the tax dollars collected from foreign investors.Anyway, it will also be interesting to see how the Minister of Finance (Khaiyum) will work out his 2015 Budget, because of their election promise and the government expenditures allocation. Dont forget this government (FFP) got the highest number of Diplomatic Office overses compared to other government. Good Luck Fiji's 2015 Budget.

Here is part of 7.30 NSW on ABC TV presenter and public broadcasting advocate Quentin Dempster's reaction to the Abbot Government's cutbacks to the ABC and SBS.
We read the following in his article 'Political bastardry and nincompoops consign ABC to churnalism' (smh 25/11).
"... Journalism requires fearless and sometimes courageous presentations of confronting facts. It needs an editorial culture which can withstand INTIMIDATION (my emphasis)from sometimes more powerful forces. The ABC has become one of Australia's most trusted institutions because the public has been able to see it expose and call the powerful to account..."
That culture and that crucial role of public broadcasting in a democractic society is now under threat.
Quentin says"... Australians understand what is happening is a piece of Tony Abbot/Rupert Murdoch bastardry. The government has no mandate from the electorate to damage the ABC or SBS. But there are forces at work in the country out to destroy Australia's unique public broadcasting system. We must not let this happen"
I take this opportunity to thank C4.5 and others who have sought to hold power to account following the military takeover in 2006.
You filled a vacuum created by the mainstream media in Fiji which could withstand the INTIMIDATION from the powerful forces in Fiji during that period of dictatorial rule.

To those FFP cronies who are against Tomasi's posts...

Tomasi, through what I feel are in-depth studies of the subjects he has written about in this forum, appears to be pinching the nerves of those who are opposed to his opinions that they are now overdosing on their medications trying to feel calmer.

The general support for the FFP has dwindled since the last elections because of the many truths that have surfaced especially the truths about the claims in the Auditor General's Report, the general increase in cases of poverty, the increase in influx of the Chinese who have acquired Fijian Passports, the general confusion in the acquiring of land from the Land Bank by foreigners, and more.

We need to certainly be on the lookout for Government's bungling of how they govern the rest of us. If this trend continues, the FFP will certainly lose the next elections.

The more and the longer Bainimarama does not explain his roles in the 2000 coup and about the abuse of those who whom he trampled on in December 2006 the less in number his supporters will become. Word is travelling slowly but surely amongst the general public about Bainimarama's and Khaiyum's dishonesty that they are wishing they did not vote for FFP.

Vili Rakoro said...

No one is stopping you from criticising the government. That's what a democracy is. I only brand you a SODELPA when you start to incite violence and hatred to other citizens which I'm sure you can clearly see is what majority in here do. And if you're going to criticise these government then at least have the decency to compare them with previous governments and their actions. A case in point is the auditor general reports, sure these government have had lost but previous governments have lost more therefore if you paint the full picture then it's clear these government is an improvement. Problem is most refuse to compare but just pick out the negatives and then start their pathetic childish insults.

As i have said over and over SODELPA supporters have a liking to producing skewed data rather then the whole stats and facts which often paints a completely different picture. The measurements to this governments performance is the previous governments and if they seem to be doing better and you're still criticising then you're pretty much wandering into the SODELPA mentality forests where information are customised mixed and match to the point of not making any chance all just to justify their hatred and racism which leads to them inciting violence.

And remember those people especially the Fijian of Indian origin aren't animals. They're also God's creation whom have feelings and families. How would you feel if you and your family are consistently being made to feel small and not welcome?

Most of these families by the way have been born and bred in our ancestry lands for fee generation. How many more generation before you treat them like your neighbours?

If you don't have the ability to rise above your hatred and anger to the point you realise these families are just trying to survive just like everyone then I'm afraid quoting the bible and claiming to be Christian is nothing but words without action on your part.

Us FF I taukei have risen above it and don't mind at all to stand between SODELPA and our Fijian of Indian descent not because we have been fooled by whoever you claim but because we have realised that our Indian brothers and sisters need us more then we need them and we are willing to put into action what we believe as Christian.

Now think deeply and ask yourself these if God is looking down on us do you honestly think he will punish us FF I taukei for choosing to help our fellow Fijian of Indian decedent? What you answer will be a reality check on who you are as a person and as a Christian.

No doubt you would want to keep the Civil Service topped up with unnecessary posts and the taxpayer footing the bill.

bye bye fiji sugar!!!

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has obliged the European Union to do away with preferential market access for sugar coming from African, Caribbean and Pacific countries by 2017. However, the EU head of delegation to the Pacific Andrew Jacobs says they are working on providing all the support they can to support Fiji’s sugar industry to help make it more competitive, reports Radio Fiji.

“Fiji sugar is going to have to compete with European sugar beet producers so we are very keen to provide all the support that we can to help to make Fiji sugar more competitive to ensure that Fiji sugar is up to the challenge of the competition,” Mr Jacob’s said at a news conference. Ways and means are being examined to utilise resources from the 11th European Development Fund (EDF11) to alleviate the situation.

Fiji has a preferential price quota of 220,000 tonnes a year to the EU, which is scheduled to end less than two years from now, in October 2017. Meanwhile, the Fairtrade Foundation has urged food companies and retailers to choose Fairtrade sugar, amid concerns that a sugar price slump and other reforms such as Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) could push thousands of workers into poverty. Referring to the WTO-EU situation it said African, Caribbean and Pacific countries could be squeezed out of the European sugar market after CAP reform comes into effect in 2017.

editor,
In his letter to The Australian (25/11) John Bain says " My contention is that Senator Jacqui Lambie is suffering from delusions of grandeur..."
Many Australians would agree with his contention.
Now if someone like Jacqui Lambie with her relatively minor ( some would even contend mediocre)background in the military can have delusions of grandeur because of her status as a senator and the power that position gives imagine what it must be like for someone who is a military chief and has taken over the country and has absolute power.
What would be the level of such a person's delusions of grandeur given his belief that he has the blueprint for all that ails the nation?
Recall here the image of Rabuka - the father of coups in Fiji - standing on the balcony of the Suva Civic Centre and making that speech.
Where is Rabuka today?

Bula Tomasi, I usually do not condone religious or racial bias of any kind. I did read through your post though and while i do not agree in general that the Muslim population at large in Fiji share ASK views i do agree that Islam is a problem world over and is the single biggest treat to civility and everything decent in this world today. I know as i was a Muslim once. I am an apostate Muslim and now follow no religion. I despise all religions of this world not the followers but the faiths themselves. I have studied religion all of the major once at least and will say this. The sooner organized religion is removed from this planet the better we will all be.I will however be very careful with Fiji. Fijian Muslims are by far just following the masses just as most people of religion do Brainwashed by some book written by dump ass humans many moons ago. They are certainly not working with ASK and most don't care too much about him anyway. ASK's problem is his ego and the classic megalomaniac traits of i am smarter and better than everyone else. He really is quite dumb you know but he really does not know it and people around him are just to afraid to tell him. Classic case of the naked emperor.

Increased productivity in Civil Service will shift the supply curve towards right, which in long run will decrease price and create economic growth. Yes, in short run unemployment will increase but in long term the country will benefit. I hope your two economic advisers to SODELPA, Biman and Warden Narsey know this. Us Christians cannot pretend our hands are clean and judge others.

When Christians get political, they often do so because they believe that they have God on their side. This is true whether they are progressive or conservative, and throughout most of western/democratic society history there have been both. (You’d think that the conflicting claims about what God wants would lead to more doubting, but here we are.) Looking over the long history of people claiming to be speaking for God’s wishes, it quickly becomes evident that Christians are frequently on the wrong side of history.

Slavery: Both sides of the Western slavery debate claimed to be speaking from profound Christian conviction. The Bible clearly has a positive view of slavery, something pro-slavery Christians routinely pointed out. Abolitionists took a broader, less literal view of the Bible. Unsurprising that this divide led to the American being, to this day, home of the most people who take a literalist, fundamentalist view of Christianity.

Of course, nowadays you can’t find even the most literalist fan of the Bible who is willing to agree with their predecessors in the 19th century who believed the Bible endorsed slavery. Of the many things conservative Christians have gotten wrong over the years, the pro-slavery argument is probably the one that is least likely to be revived by modern fundamentalists.

Catholics: Modern conservative Protestants embrace Catholics and have even started to borrow some Catholic arguments against things like abortion and contraception. But in the early 19th and 20th centuries, there was widespread anti-Catholic sentiment, much of it tied up in hostility to Catholic immigrants. There was even an anti-Catholic political party in the early 19th century. Catholics were viewed as idolaters and drunkards by many Protestants, but by far the most bizarre relic of anti-Catholic paranoia is the fear that evil shenanigans were going on in nunneries. A woman writing under the pseudonym “Maria Monk” penned a best-selling book where she claimed to have escaped a convent where she was forced to be a sex slave and pressed into the act of killing babies and hiding their corpses. Needless to say, none of her accusations should be taken as anything approaching true. Anti-Catholic paranoia also led to another Christian-led folly…

Prohibition: Hostility to Catholic immigrants was a large part of the reason temperance mania took over many Protestant communities in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Despite the fact that Jesus was a wine drinker, abstinence from alcohol—and forcing abstinence on others by force of law—became a major Christian cause during this period, leading up to Prohibition. This was true, even though many in the temperance movement were also aligned with the suffragist cause, making Prohibition one of the few Christian follies that weighs as heavily on the progressive Christian tradition as it does the conservative one. Luckily, it took little more than a decade for the bigtime error that was banning alcohol to be fixed.

Segregation: Religious leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. led the desegregation movement, but it’s also important to note that the pro-segregation movement was also conceived as a Christian one. Arguments against “race mixing” were largely framed in religious terms. The judge who initially ruled against the interracial couple in Loving v. Virginia argued that the “Almighty God” put people on separate continents and “did not intend for the races to mix.” Christian right leader Jerry Falwell got his start fighting to uphold segregation, giving sermons about how integration was offensive to God. As Max Blumenthal noted in the Nation, the modern religious right as we know it started off as a movement to defend segregation.

So basically SODELPA and its supporters are stucked in the past. People like Tomasi and Kua ni Rere are perfect examples.

The Auditors Report says that $55,000 was added to Bainimarama's 2013 salary without any explanation.

The Auditor has asked those in control, ie Ministry of Finance and Nur Bano and they all say that the $55,000 should not be there.

BUT THEY KNOW THAT $55,000 HAS GONE INTO BAI'S ACCOUNT.

2 POSSIBILITIES:
1) Someone was told to transfer the money. In that case it would be ABUSE OF OFFICE OR STEALING...
because Salaries are determined by the Parliament.

2) MAY BE IT WAS AN OVERSIGHT...

IF IT WAS AN OVERSIGHT - THEN BAINIMARAMA DOES NOT HAVE ANY RIGHT TO THAT MONEY AND MUST RETURN IT ASAP.

However if HE DOES NOT WANT TO PAY IT BACK....THEN ITS CALLED "STEALING"

Stealing is a Criminal Offence and the person must pay.

A few people have been recently sentenced to jail for ABUSE OF OFFICE AND STEALING ...THEY WERE MR MOTIBHAI; MR MAU AND MR PRATAP.

I THINK MR BAINIMARAMA SHOUD BE JOINING THEM IN JAIL.

Fast forward to the AG Report for 2013, Vol. 2. Section O4, pp.13 and 14. The Report stated their review of the Head 50 Expenditure revealed that the Ministry paid a total of $1,860,947 as Cabinet Ministers’ salaries in 2013, based on the amounts provided by Alizpacific Chartered Accountants & Business Advisers) associated with the same Nur Bano Ali.

This time, individual payments vouchers (but not the names of the Cabinet Ministers) were documented including one for $278,750 (presumably paid to Prime Minister Bainimarama, and which was still way above what had been paid previously to Prime Ministers).

In addition it was noted that Bainimarama received a "gratuity" payment of $57,500 from a different vote, bringing his total recorded salary for 2013 to $366,250 which is way above what Prime Ministers had been paid before 2006.

Again, there were large undocumented payments for emoluments from the Head 50.

Despite repeated requests for the associated documents from both the Auditor General’s Office and Ministry of Finance, the Prime Minister’s Office refused to make the details available, according to the Auditor General.

Chaudhry describes budget as 'ambitious and unrealistic'

Avinesh Gopal
Sunday, November 23, 2014

THE Fiji Labour Party says the 2015 Budget is 'too ambitious and unrealistic'.

While the party is yet to analyse the budget, its leader Mahendra Chaudhry said, "I don't think we have that kind of money for all those things."

"They inflate the budget and at the end of the year when you look at the figures, you can see that they are unable to deliver a lot of things," he said.

Mr Chaudhry said a clear example was the huge amount of money allocated to the Fiji Roads Authority to upgrade and build new roads this year.

He said the country did not have the capacity to spend $653 million next year on roads, the largest chunk of the 2015 Budget.

"Also, how will the free prescribed drugs issue work? Will people earning less than $20,000 get some kind of cards or will they be reimbursed if they buy the prescribed medicine or is it from the hospitals? How will they know who qualifies for free medicine?

"How will the 91,250 litres of free water for families earning less than $30,000 work out? How will they determine which families qualify for this free water?

In 2006 the Qarase government finances were in such a critical state that it had no funds to meet the $9 million civil service COLA payment that was due on the month of June.

Government memos went to all Ministries and departments telling them to redeploy funds to meet the COLA payment, and to curtail spending.

The Ministry of Health was told to redeploy $2 million from its capital budget at a time when it needed additional funding to carry out urgent maintenance work and stock replenishment.

About $2.2 million were cut from the Education Ministry budget, $1 million from the Ministry of Agriculture and about three-quarter million dollars each from the Ministry of Commerce and the Fiji Police Force.

Those cuts resulted in poor services to the public.

The Qarase government had a habit of not budgeting for COLA payments to the civil service as not to put further stress on its burgeoning Budget deficit which had already reached alarming levels.

It was a deceptive practice, designed to hoodwink the nation.

The Qarse government finances were in such a desperate state, it was unthinkable that the Prime Minister indulged in the luxury of a 36-member Cabinet, with 36 private secretaries.

During the Qarase government the Reserve Bank had to resort to desperate monetary measures to tighten up the money market and mop up excess funds from the system.

All indications were that the situation was getting worse. Our Foreign Reserves had plunged from $991 million in May 2005 to a low of $693 million at the end of May 2006, worth only three months of imports.

The Balance of Payments situation was extremely critical with key exports continuing to show a sharp decline.

The country's finance in 2006 was in dire state due to the Qarase government’s financial indiscipline.

And if you compare that to the current governments finance then you will see a vast vast improvement. Yet these SODELPA supporters continue to think that these government is bad. Goes to show how some people just never learn.

Fiji is multicultural, half of our population is made up of Fijian of Indian and other ethnicity therefore when communicating in a blog meant for all he should post in English to take into consideration those others who don't speak the lingo.

Most of my relation in Naitasiri don't even speak bauan and I know it's the same for most villagers around Fiji. If he really wants to be seen as a true Fijian then post in his own provincial dialect.

He probably thinks that posting in bauan dilect makes him look respectable but guess what it just makes him look racist and ignorant. To make it worse this blog is owned by a Fijian of Indian decent lol. If it was his blog and he stated it's a I Taukei blog then fair enough but it's not therefore he is truly out of touch.

Clearly you are either denying or haven't been following my comments. I've posted in Fijian but mostly in my Naitasiri dilect and a bit of bauan taking into consideration those whom are not from my province. And I most in English mostly because I consider other Fijian who don't speak Fijian nor understand it.

I don't hate Fijian because I am Fijian and it's not in my nature. I'm just one who consider others which your imbecile friend clearly don't. And you're supporting it so clearly you two are just pathetic and ignorant.

Take a look at yourselves. You're all posting in a blog owned by a Fijian of Indian decent and yet consistently abuse them. How fcuken pathetic. Bunch of hypocrites. It's almost like going into an Indian house and telling him you hate Indians. I am embarrassed at the attitude and mentality of you lot. Elders in my village consistently talk low about Fijians from Yanuyanu/Islands saying how they have all skimmed across to crowd our land in Suva and I have to argue against their mentality. I consistently defend the islanders/Yanuyanu people especially those marries to my relatives. They are thankful that I'm the voice of reasons in my village. I had one incident where someone stole some grog and cassava from a yanuyanu guy married to a woman from my village and when asked the thief's reply was its my land. I was so angry I nearly rained hell down on this dude. I told him to give back what he stole and apologised and if he ever tries it again he will face legal punishment as well as a good buturaki/beating.

The yanuyanu/islanders in my village are thankful for my ability to see through the sense of entitlement and have compassion. The thief by the way changed and realised that what he did was wrong so I offered him a job in my farm. I told him as long as you learn your lesson I will accept you and forgive you and help you. I told him in the future if you're in need of anything come to me and I'll see what I can do just don't go treating the yanuyanu guy like that. He's in our land away from his home so let's make him feel welcome and not remind him consistently that he's a guest. Today the thief and yanuyanu guy are best of buddies.

Us Fijian if there were no Indians to fight with we'll fight amongst ourselves and our history have shown that. If we don't learn from our past then we will be more than likely to repeat it.

My compassion for the Yanuyanu islanders extends to Fijian of Indian and other ethnicity. Fiji needs people like me and Bainimarama otherwise we're likely to descend into tribal wars and anarchy.

We also have to learn from mistakes of countries who have been democratic longer than us. The western countries took years of trial and errors to get to where they are. We can cut the time limit by learning about their mistakes and trying not to repeat them so we can develop faster otherwise we'll always lag behind because we'll be going through exactly what they have experienced.

These SODELPA lot are just pure evil and full of hate. They want to drag us back to the cannibalism era. And these isn't a thought they have actually said it on these blog.

Vili Rakoro said...

It really is embarrasing the mentality and ability of these SODELPA supporters to have a debate. 90 percent of the comments are just pure personal attack and abuse.

They do not add anything whatsoever to the debate. When I put up facts especially about Qarase and previous governments they reply with personal insults thinking that makes them look respectable. They somehow do not realise that the moment they resort to abuse and foul language posting they have lost credibility and with it the debate.

They consistently act like their useless leader Kepa. During the election debate between Bainimarama and Kepa it was clearly evident who was leader material. Bainimarama has the experience of being the leader of the Fiji Military, an institution that is respected and credible all over the world. And Kepa well being born into a chiefly family is as much leadership material she can have.

Bainimarama planned and executed the rescue of the hostages and defeat of the terrorists who carried out the 2000 coup. With it Fiji's future. He then executed a coup which was neccessary due to the non- discpline and corruption of Qarase government.

So planning and executing rescue and defeat of terrorist in 2000. Planning and executing 2006 government take over under orders from President. Implementing a look north policy and succesfully seeing it through including resisting Australia and New Zealand underhand interference like blocking Fiji loans from World Bank etc. And then to top it off successfully becoming the first elected Prime Minister to win a majority vote of over 70 percent.

Bainimarama has the ability and experience to lead the country. Kepa well first she boycotted the Indian PM and now wants a pay rise, clearly she is without a doubt the worst leader ever. Thank God she did not win the election otherwise she would have taken the country down the gutter the useless excuse of a leader.

Vili Rakoro said...

Nayacakalou

Sa rauta mada na lasulasu tiko. Enough bullshit mann.

Youre saying Bainimarama did the coup to save him from Naboro.

Lets put the evidence up yet once again shall we:

In 2003 Relations between Qarase government and the army commander Commodore Frank Bainimarama was strained.

Qarase government confirmed that Comm. Bainimarama’s contract as army chief would not be renewed when it expires in 2004.

This was preceded by a series of meetings between the army chief, PM’s office and the President over what is believed to be a falling out over the stepped up prosecution of those involved with the May 2000 coup.

Comm. Bainimarama had pushed ahead with the arrest and prosecution of all soldiers involved in the army mutiny of 2 November 2000 and the coup. He had stated publicly that before he leaves office, he wants to ensure that all those complicit in the terrorist events of May 2000 are held accountable.

In doing so, he had obviously came to loggerheads with then President Josefa Iloilo and the PM, both of whom were beneficiaries of the 2000 coup. The media had published reports of an order signed by Ratu Josefa, no doubt as commander in chief of the army, calling on Bainimarama to drop all investigations against soldiers implicated in the two events of May 2000.

Soon after this, there were reports of Qarase government wanting to send Bainimarama away on a diplomatic posting, no doubt to get rid of him. These reports were denied by the authorities.

Also in a Media interview that stunned the country, the army chief cautioned politicians against making racial slurs. Although no one was named, he was believed to be pointing at government ministers and SDL Party officials who have issued a number of shocking racist statements against the Indian community and its leaders.

All this took place against a backdrop of increasing instability, and talks of another coup, as high chiefs with involvement in the 2000 coup find themselves facing the long arm of the law. This move began with the departure of Isikia Savua as Commissioner of Police who himself is very closely aligned to the May 2000, and is believed to have suppressed evidence as well as a number of pending cases involving coup-related charges.

First, Naitasiri chief Ratu Inoke Takiveikata was charged. And then charges were laid against Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Cakaudrove high chief Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure who was sworn in as attorney general in coup-maker George Speight’s illegal government. He was charged with taking an illegal oath related to seditious activities.

As a result of these moves, there was panic among other chiefs who feared they may also face charges for involvement in the political mayhem of 2000… a number of these chiefs were in the Qarase government.

Then another Cakaudrove chief, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, with close links to the coup, launched a scathing attack against Commodore Bainimarama on a Fijian language radio.

Unfortunately for these chiefs they could not even hide behind the protection of the Great Council of Chiefs anymore. The then GCC chairman Ratu Epeli Ganilau had made it very clear that chiefs involved in the coup must face the full brunt of the law.

So the reality is that Qarase tried to imprison Bainimarama for wanting those involved in the 2000 coup be charged. And now SODELPA supporters like Nayacakalou are trying to twist the facts by stating Bainimarama had a coup to prevent prison time. Now the real question is why was he supposedly meant to go to prison??? Well because Qarase and the chiefs in his government who were part of the 2000 coup did not want to be taken to task for it and because Bainimarama was insisting they do, they wanted to terminate his contract and imprison him.

These is the TRUTH and facts about it. And beleive me I have more evidence I can put up here to show exactly the type of people SODELPA and its supporters are.

And Nayacakalou, majority of those involved in the 2000 coup are kai Yanuyanu so quit it with your bullshit.

Vutuki Rakoro said...

Tui Viti said...

Well so much said about nothing!!!Wrong as usual, hearsay being touted as direct and documentary evidence...to put things right,

Police were investigating the Coup makers of 2000 GS and his group and have hauled most of them into court, then next on the list was to investigate the supporters, those businessmen or fat cats behind the scenes who were bankrolling the coup, each CRW Soldier being offered close to $40 Grand FJD for his participation but:

when Police began investigating the 'Supporters' the businessmen got wind of it,they knew that they were in trouble so they decided to remove the main person pushing for the 2000 coup investigations then Army Commander Bainimarama,

so instead of investigating the 2000 Coup Supporters, Police under the influence of PM LQ; switched investigations to begin investigating those who removed Rt Mara as President.

Now who influenced LQ to instruct Hughes [former POL COM] to stop investigating Supporters? Yes the Fat CAts,the Businessmen who bankrolled the 2000 Coup.

Who are the fat cats?? That is another story!!

Most of them stood to lose millions of dollars if Labour PM MC Govt continued running the Nation, remember he [MC] coined the term 'fat cats' well they got back at him, they knew that he would begin changing Govt Policies on how, where and to whom Govt will reward business contracts,a complete changeover

e.g. just to pack rice imported from Australia and sell in Fiji a certain Company stand to lose millions if the Govt gave the licence to Rewa Rice to pack the imported rice and sell it in Fiji.

The Company Directors were horified when they got wind that PM MC was going to award the contract to Rewa Rice so under the status quo,in marched GSpeight.

It all began in the jet set town of Nadi, all the planning for the 2000 coup even some nationalist were paid to burn the Girmit House in Ltka but got cold feet in the end.

Why Nadi?? Remember Labour PM MC began changing long existing Govt and Regional Policies on how AFL and other stakeholders were to conduct business e.g Tax on our Skies, yes, dont you know that when an airliner flies across our skies they pay tax to the Govt?,esp to Fiji Govt Company running the show,if they fly over the sky in Tonga,Samoa or anywhere in the Pacific the tax is paid to Fiji Govt and then we distribute it to their Govt later on after being ahemm!! taxed well its boring really, time to go check some chow at the Lomai Festival..

Qarase did try to terminate Bainimarama's contract in 2004 when it expired and got renewed. The only reason he couldn't was because he faced resistance from the military council. Lets not forget Bainimarama was the one who put him there in the first place.

In 2002 The Fiji Labour Party had been allocated office space, staff and other parliamentary resources in accordance with its numbers in Parliament.

The allocation was made by the Speaker and the House Committee based on the fact that as the second largest party in Parliament, FLP was entitled to parliamentary resources on a proportional basis.

“This is the reality not an Alice in Wonderland fantasy, as Mr. Qarase saw it. He would have done well to have checked the facts out with the parliamentary secretariat instead of displaying his lack of knowledge of procedures so blatantly,”

Qarase was clearly the lawbreaker here. He stood in blatant violation of the Constitution. He had stolen Labour’s Cabinet seats and offered it to his buddies some of which were chiefs who had a hand and supported the 2000 coup.

And then together from there they tried to manipulate the system to sweep aside investigations of the 2000 coups. And Bainimarama was the vocal voice of those investigation hence Qarase tried to terminate his contract but thanks to the military council resistance he couldn't.

Vili Rakoro said...

your second reply about why Bainimarama haven't investigated those involved in the 2000 coup shows how stupid and shallow you are boy.

Bainimarama have entrusted FICAC with that. And these time he is not starting from the soldiers on the ground he is actually starting from the top. The businessmens, former politicians, directors ets who were the instigators.

It clearly shows how full of shit you are with your swearing and personal attacks. Don't waste your time attacking me personally it will just make you angry and sad because I couldn't care less. you're absolutely nothing to me lol.

Try to stay on point and debate deeply but then you're a boy of no substance and all your arguments aren't facts but opinions and coconut wireless bullshit. If you want to verify my facts I advice you to go down to the archives its all there for you in black and white boy.

@ anonymous 9.48 pm

Qarase's power should be within the constitution. From the very beginning when he offered seats to chiefs and others who were involved in the 2000 coup instead of the Fiji labour party he was issuing an unconstitutional order which made it illegal.

When he chose to release the then vice President after only 3 years in jail rather then the 6 years he again made an unconstitutional decision.

The army commodore is chosen by the military council and when he tried to step in and over rule them again he acted unconstitutionally.

So in lament terms Qarase did not have the power to sack the army commodore. The gun did not stop him, the constitution did.

So please do not try and spit bullshit to us. By the way as I have always said if you wanted to verify all of these head down to the archives and look up the old constitution that Qarase was meant to be working within.

You cannot just suck someone at your peril. There are procedures you have to follow through. The western countries have something called an employment tribunal that facilitates this sort of disagreements.

SODELPA supporters have no solid facts to back up their claims about Qarase. All you have is your opinions and coconut wireless facts. That is why you all attack people personally with swear and curses. You don't have the truth nor the facts so you get angry and start name calling. Tomasi said...

Hunger is a ferocious saboteur. Physical or emotional, hunger can push us to abandon our goals, crack our moral compasses, and lose sight of what truly matters. The Bible explains human nature having two hungry forces within us, sometimes in conflict and intended to work together. In Hebrew, they are called the yetzer hara (positive inclination) and the yetzer hatov, (negative inclination). The yetzer hara is our drive towards comfort, pleasure, and security, while the yetzer hatov is our ethical conscience ensuring we remain on a righteous path. The yetzer hara is necessary. Such a drive moves us towards love, career advancement, and business success. It can even spur us towards the pursuit of justice and the defense of human rights. Yet if unchecked by the yetzer hatov, the yetzer hara may lure us into behavior destructive to ourselves and others.

We commit to a healthier lifestyle and plan for ntutritious and balanced diet. All goes well for a moment, but we are placed in situations which we cannot resist. We fall back into the old habits and have to muster enough discipline and will to get back to our goals of staying healthy. So strikes the yetzer hara (negative drive).

Or, we’re deeply committed to a partner, in love, willing to sacrifice and compromise, and planning for a beautiful future for which we’re so willing to fight. Everything seems settled into perfect place. But then there’s some drama, and life takes a sharp detour, and we’re face-to-face with someone else willing to fall with us away from such commitments. Suddenly, we’ve made an irretrievable trade for momentary pleasure. The yetzer hara triumphs again.

The Bible takes the time to tell us the story of two brothers, Jacob and Esau, and how each of them demonstrated the strong influence and potential consequences of these human inclinations. It also helps us to see how our personal choices and ability to control our human drives can affect our material and spiritual destiny.

Esau returns from hunting, desperately hungry. His brother Jacob, with whom he’s struggled since they shared a womb, has prepared an apparently irresistible lentil stew. “And Esau said to Jacob, ‘Give me some of that red stuff to gulp down, for I am famished’ – which is why he was named Edom. Jacob said, ‘First sell me your birthright.’ And Esau said, ‘I am at the point of death, so of what use is my birthright to me?’ But Jacob said, ‘Swear to me first.’ So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. Jacob then gave Esau bread and lentil stew; he ate and drank, and he rose and went away. Thus did Esau spurn his birthright” (Genesis 25:30-34).
Esau traded momentary comfort, even pleasure, for his inheritance and future privilege. After a day in the fields he was certainly quite tired and also very hungry, but he did not literally hover on the verge of death. The agreement he made was simply less challenging than exerting patience while he prepared his own meal. He chose what was easy rather than what was most worthwhile. And worse, his brother exploited such a weakness for personal gain.

The yetzer hara lives within us all and hunger demanding sustenance comes in many forms. It may foster small indiscretions or gargantuan moral pitfalls. It requires constant awareness to combat, and patience with ourselves when we lose the struggle. Allowing the yetzer hara to dominate is part of our very flawed and very meaningful human experience. Finding balance with the yetzer hatov is an integral step on the path, as well. The story of Esau and Jacob is one in which both forces play prominent roles. Our holy Scripture reminds us none are exempt from such challenges, and stumbling is inevitable.

Tomasi said...

To all our citizens, and especially to Raikoro, our soldiers, police and prison offers, our Government MPs and all those who are supporting Kahiyum and Bai, let this be a lesson to all of us. Our hunger for physical and spiritual comfort can influence how we see things, how we make decisions and how we live our lives everyday. Many have tried to justify the 2006 coup, the fraudulent elections, the tortures, murders, and all the evil that has happened since then simply because their hunger has been satisfied somewhat. Like Esau, many have sold their birth-rights for a single meal. For the momentary comfort and satisfaction of money, roads, and freebies, they have sold our faith, justice, freedom, ethics, our Fijian identity and our birth-rights in our own land. The yetzer hatov or negative drive has struck many of our people with a devastating blow. Fiji as a whole, and especially our native Fijian society has suffered a death blow.

To Raikoro and others, we can argue about the pros and cons of Khai and Bhai’s evil dictatorship and current tyrannical leadership until all the crabs and mongoose and pigs come to Albert Park or Vunidawa. Absolute truth cannot be debated. It is not subject to controversy, neither can it be derided by ignorance, nor be distorted my malice. Fijians have traded our birthright for the momentary comfort and security of a single meal. It is not weakness to admit our wrongs, but wisdom. It is not events that dictate history, but human choices and human inclinations. We need the moral clarity and discipline that enables us to see clearly, think clearly, and act wisely in order to turn our national ship of state away from potential destruction. May God help us. Vinaka.

Because it was inevitable.

Those remaining trying to con and persuade others have simply been shown to be no better than those they are against. They are in fact wannabe dictators in their own way.

What remains are those that feel aggrieved that they did not get what they wanted or retain what they were not entitled to, or those that simply want to rant their religious evangelism.

The idiots like Tomasi single handedly managed to bore people to death with his ever changing tactics and plastic Christianity. His greatest achievement was bringing Fiji Today to almost a standstill because of his fetish with Freemasonry, Islam, conspiracy theories and his perpetual bible bashing.

The idiots remain this governments assets, but unfortunately they are just too dumb to understand the damage to a cause they have achieved.
