Khaiyum forced to back-date controversial TV decree amendment

Regime appointed Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has been forced to swallow his own spit by removing HSBC World Series Sevens, Rugby World Cup 7's and Rugby World Cup from the Television (Cross-Carriage of Designated Events) Decree, as per the wish of rugby's governing body, World Rugby.

The removal was gazetted on Wednesday 28th January but is dated 15th December 2014 - to prevent World Rugby from blocking coverage of the Wellington 7's this weekend.

The Wellington Sevens is the second most popular 7's event after Hong Kong and Sayed-Khaiyum was forced to undertake the gazetting to prevent denying Fiji
citizens coverage for a second time.

The gazetting of the removal is further evidence the people of Fiji were conned by pro-regime media, particularly the Fiji Sun and State owned FBC (Radio Fiji), into believing World Rugby had backed down in December after blocking the Dubai 7's, allowing the televising of the South Africa 7's a week later.

Both Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and his boss, Frank Bainimarama, were portrayed as heroes by Fiji Sun and FBC.

Bainimarama displayed no shame when he repeated the lies giving a similar message at the opening of the Punjas Biscuit Factory in Lautoka last December, and again during his Western Division tour in Sigatoka when he accused the Opposition of being obsessed with the TV/Rugby saga and sacking of top two Fiji TV Executives.

The U-turn to cover the stuff-up shows Sayed-Khaiyum's understanding of media laws and broadcast rights is minuscule. His so-called legal expertise was also exposed by World Rugby's head of legal matters, Susan Ahern.

He even failed to provide proof to World Rugby and the people of Fiji that soccer's governing body, FIFA, had given approval for the cross-carriage of the World Cup played in Brazil last June and July.

Sayed-Khaiyum was basing his illogical Cross-Carriage Decree provisions, clearly manufactured to prop up his brother's FBC TV, which has resorted to showing out-dated programmes and Hindi soap operas in a bid to gain audience.

With no proof of FIFA approval or of World Rugby approval for the cross-carriage of Gold Coast 7's last October, Sayed-Khaiyum turned red and pink under the World Rugby onslaught and removed the World Rugby events from the Cross-Carriage Decree as required by World Rugby before it agreed for Fiji TV to sub-licence 7's feed to FBC on terms agreeable to World Rugby.

So much for his lies and deceit, which unfortunately fool the people but not international organisations.

Khaiyum's letter to World Rugby December 12

  1. In Fiji, Khaiyum is a trident, swimming amongst minnows. On the international scene, though, he's just a guppy — easy chum.

  2. FBC TV has a better program structure then Sky Pacific.

I was surprised to see that Batini Tanoa is the most viewed Itaukei programme all across Fiji on any of the TV stations.

The only programme which comes close to it is Mawe ni Yava which is on Mai TV.

Sky Pacific program which Tanya brought in is probably on describable as pathetic. We have two Sky Pacific channels running the same programs (and are paying for both of them) and then there's one called EMTV which is supposed to be a PNG station but which runs other things.

    Its just a pathetic joke.

Reading Tanya's email on fijileaks left me in no doubt as to why she has been sacked. The email is appalling. How can someone who supposedly is an Executive (well was) write something like that and even admit to back stabbing her own fellow workers ?

    Just a disgrace

I used to think Tanya was a good lawyer but after reading that letter I have just been appalled.

Tanya what as sorry tale would that be, it seems you are fighting are loosing battle and you will finally realize soon.I will want to enlighten you that you should not go against the fijian people and there interest,Rugby is like religion to them and no one should be allowed to deny them this opportunity, they will curse for that. Thanks

  4. Well, judging from the latest developments on the Fiji TV saga and the wannabe Fiji Maestro of Deceit, Aiyaz Khaiyum, he really has his head 'buried in the sand' and I dare to say it will remain there for a while longer as there's bound to be a whole lot of new developments arising from the Auditor General's Report that will see Aiyaz and Co having their Asses kicked!

What do you say to this all you Yalowai wannabees???

The only reason why Tanya should be on the losing end as you think is because there is no justice for any person who stands against Aiyaz or Frank okay?

Get this into your thick head because people like yourself dont have the tenacity, let alone boldness and courage to do the right thing.

Best you can do is remain that silly Ostrich and follow AK - bury your head in the sand and swallow sand and pebbles.

There's too many treacherous Judases around us compared to the few who are doing the right thing.

All the best for Tanya - nail them all good and proper!!!

  7. I feel very sorry for Tanya but she just doesn't get it. She was trying to keep the rugby for herself when Fiji TV doesn't reach the whole of Fiji. The PM and AG were trying to get it for everyone. End of story. So can we please forget all this nonsense and move on. Tanya Dear, I happen to be one of your friends but can't tell this to your face. But you need to move on. Also, stop going on about God being on your side. He is on everyone's side, even the AG's.

  8. God is only on the side of truth. If Tanya is lying then God is not be on her side. If Khaiyum is lying, which he has done many times, then God will not be on his side.

If we mock God with our lies, then we will have only ourselves to blame for our misfortunes.

  9. The message is clear, It should be rugby for the Fijian people, no doubts about that whether it be Tanya or Kayum ,lies or whatever, just don't deny the fijian people their right to watch rugby fullstop. We don't care waqanika or Kayum goes, don't deny us our right to watch rugby

  10. Josateki Daulako says... How much longer will we allow ourselves to be hoodwinked by the puppet master (Khaiyum). The guy is a typical Kai Dia who plays rules the Kai Dia way...CHOR. That was all he did trying to legislate a decree that would allow his brothers Fiji TV to cover World Rugby without having to pay a cent. The excuse that Fiji TV has a broader area of coverage does not allow Fiji TV the right or the Government of Fiji the right to amend decrees to allow a TV company the rights to share World Rugby coverage. Khaiyum to date has not even responded to the proof requested by World Rugby. This shows the level of professionalism and gutter level politics that is happening when a dictatorial Government forces issues without considering the implications. They dictated the country and now they think they can dictate the world...Hello and welcome back to reality TV. By the way...whatever has happened to my good friend Vili - if you see him mention his worst nightmare is back JD

  11. God is on Khaiyum's side, but when is Khaiyum ever on God's side? It's not just a matter of Khaiyum being a Muslim. It's that Khaiyum is wicked and a liar. Does Allah honour the wicked and deceitful?

It's clear what's happened here. Khaiyum used the regime to muscle Fiji TV into sharing the rugby feed with his brother's FBC. World Rugby did the only thing it could, whch was to stand by its contractual obligations with Fiji TV. If the regime had any sense, it would have foreseen this from the beginning and never issued the offending decree in the first sense. And this wasn't the first time the regime had allowed Khaiyum to lead it into a blind alley.

The entire rugby issue was the regime's creation by foolishly following Khaiyum. He blundered badly, and Bainimarama lied, as usual, to try to minmise the debacle. In the end, Khaiyum backed down, because he had no choice. Either that, or prevent us from watching more matches.

Rugby is the one issue that can bring this regime down. More idiocy like this is unacceptable.

  12. When was watching sevens a right?

At the end of the day that image we see on the TV is a property that belongs to someone IRB, not Fiji or its people. Just like any other property, you pay to use it in this case watch it. Thats what Fiji TV did. It paid for it so that people of Fiji or at least as far as Fiji TV can reach can enjoy.

What Gov did was like a group of Thugs or Rebels who entered someones property and demanded that property be shared with everyone else.

Once people realize the importance of property rights and how the commercial world works, they will then realize you cannot just go bull-dozing your way thinking ITS YOUR RIGHT WHEN ITS NOT EVEN A DAMN RIGHT.

A RIGHT IS EDUCATION, WATER, FREE SPEECH, JUSTICE SYSTEM, ASSOCIATION AND ASSEMBLY, WATCHING A GAME ON TV IS NOT A RIGHT - GROW UP.

  14. That's another thing too 12:04 PM. If we are cheating on our spouses, how can God be for us? To be on God's side is to keep His Commandment, "Thou shalt not commit adultery", and all His other commandments such as, "Thou shalt not bear false witness", or lie.

It will be more profitable and prosperous for all in Fiji to be on God's side but alas, many from all political sides and all ethnicities are way below the mark. Is it any wonder then that we are experiencing such problems?

And so??? What do you say now Aiyaz Khaiyum??

At least Coup 4.5 is giving us the real deal. After choking on his own spit Aiyaz resorts to removing HSBC World Series Sevens, Rugby World Cup 7's and Rugby World Cup from the Television (Cross-Carriage of Designated Events) Decree, as per the wish of rugby's governing body, World Rugby?? What a laugh!!

What does this reveal to all "Fijians"??? You simply cant claim anything that isn't yours in the first place. You do not have the right and means to. Even lies and conning others will not get you anywhere.

Bainimarama has apologized twice so far about the milk and water. This is a good sign for a man who held himself to be so right that he forced us to accept his lies and the constitution and the many issues he pushed down our throats. Go on Mr. Bainimarama, apologize also about the coup, the murder, the torture, the nepotism, the lying, covetousness and the election fraud. Do that and you will be free. I assure you our God is only waiting for you to make your move and those of us who worship the TRUE God will welcome you back. Bring you friends as well! 31. Frank apologising for the late water and milk supply? This is a lame excuse more like it. Another plan gone wrong!

Its all about looking good in society and hoodwinking the unsuspecting masses. This is all that matters to Frank. Aiyaz tried the same trick and failed. We have The Government of Fiji Gazette to prove his lies to the public!

Frank Bainimarama still walks about thinking only of himself and rubbishing everyone and anyone who stands against his injustices. He publicises nothing but ill-will against dissenters.

Once he is able to confess by his actions that no one is above the law, not a politician, not a priest, not a criminal, not a police officer and particularly himself, show to the people that he is accountable for his actions and stop the proud and crafty behavioral practices, then maybe you may be able to say there is some change.

Meanwhile, Frank is just a puppet of Aiyaz and he will have to do more than failing to honour the "free supply of milk and water" and keeping up the farce with a lame 'sorry people'.

Frank and Aiyaz can't go on conning the people as divine providence has proven that craft and cunning doesn't work in their favour all the time.

A clear example also is the recent developments with the Fiji TV saga, Aiyaz having to back-track or swallow his spit as Coup 4.5 aptly puts it.

In the flag let us have two Fijians--one itaukei and one indo . They both shouid be bending from the waist and facing each other. They should be naked from waist down and their exposed. Behind the should be standing MP Chaudhry seen to be shoving a sugar cane down the indo's arse. Behind the itaukei should stand either Mr. Khaiyum or an itaukei chief eg Mara (take your pick) and seen to shoving a spear or war club down the itaukei rectum--whichever is aesthetically more acceptable. We woule be unique--the way Fiji should be.

And I wasn't disappointed. It was a fascinating and wonderful interview. The words from U2's Van Diemen's land kept coming to me just listening to Hawke.

Born a Christian Congregationalist became a Social Democrat. Outstanding mind, outstanding wisdom. Good man.

But the magistrate sent me away

Now kings will rule and the poor will toil
And tear their hands as they tear the soil
But a day will come in this dawning age
When an honest man sees an honest wage

Hold me now, oh hold me now

  67. The Fiji 7's Team should deliberately lose the Tournament because soon there will be no more Fiji Flag but the BAINIMARAMA AND KAIYUM FLAG for all the sheep to enjoy.

JUST LIKE The Bainimarama/ Kaiyum Constitution which ,the sheep, are now already under.

Easy when you are hiding behind a keyboard isn't it.

What's it like to get up every morning knowing what a pathetic piece of cowardly disgusting filth you are?

But the difference is that I'm not a piece of filth like 4:24 PM.

  72. Back to the same old venom. Nothing seems to please these suckers on c5. They are too engulfed in web of SODELPA cocks and boobs and will never gain independent thinking. Long live the stupid mentality otherwise it won't be Fiji anymore. FB is trying to fight a losing game in trying to turn a group of suckers into independence. Well, he can't do much if people want to continue eating SODELPA shit and breathe SODELPA fart.

  73. Anon and i mean ANON 4.41.Yes i am filth just as Clint Eastwood said "yere i killed women and children" in the movie Unforgiven i make no excuses about my hate for these pieces of shit who have taken our country from shit to even bigger shit. You have people like Joyti who has no idea if her ass is her face or vice versa talking about the economy like she understands it. Every mistake that is obvious to the rest of Fiji that is made by this government and in particular by ASK she polishes over like THE SUN SHINES OUT OF HIS ASS. I contribute 1.3 million in taxes to this government and every day i get a stick the size of a 4 by 2 stuck up by rear by this government. Yes i am filth but i am still way better than FF and the 2 band army and their dumb ass supporters.

  76. We definitely need to change our national anthem, too.

Obviously, "A land of freedom, hope and glory"

    and

"Me ra turaga vinaka ko ira na i liuliu
    Me ra liutaki na tamata
    E na veika vinaka
Me oti kina na i tovo ca"

    no longer apply.

  77. I am concerned. The current national flag will be replaced because of its colonial history. So what's next. All the half casts and then the Indians? They too reminds us of our colonial past.

  78. Its no wonder that AK-47 is quite an idiot who does things thought up from his arse than his small tiny brain.

The guy is a really bad joke for all I know trying to act all high and mighty in Fiji but is a nobody compared to the world governing bodies like WR.
